00:00I watched the Dolphins game, and I can't emphasize this enough.
00:07If you have a running back that has good eyes, you want to start him off tackle
00:14and tell him just run with your eyes.
00:18And that opens up the whole football field.
00:21If you run a sweep, it eliminates half the field to the running back.
00:26And so when you watch these guys run, some of them cut it back,
00:32some of them bounced it, some of them hit it straight ahead.
00:35They had so many more options to run the football,
00:40and they did it with confidence, right?
00:44Hard running.
00:46And I'm like, this is what I want to see.
00:50This is the starting point.
00:52And I tell these guys, you know, the guys I golf with, they say the Dolphins are soft.
00:59And I'm like, listen, man, you think every single player on the Dolphins team
01:05went his whole football career without playing physical football?
01:11It's in them.
01:14It's not a surprise that now they have to play physical.
01:19They have.
01:20I think the coach put him in positions to not be physical with the –
01:28basically, he took a Lamborghini to a monster truck rally, right?
01:33Because when December and January hit and you needed that monster truck,
01:39you're sporting a Lamborghini and couldn't do anything.
01:43You can't have a Lamborghini go up against Gravedigger.
01:45Right, but that's what it looks like every December and January.
01:50Am I wrong?
01:52No, it has been.
01:52That has been the case.
01:53There's no doubt about it.
01:54But I do think I agree with you.
01:56I feel like I watched that second half of the game.
01:59It was the first half.
01:59Straight ahead.
01:59It looked like every play was a tackle inside, let the running back run with his eyes.
02:05They were comfortable.
02:06They ran physical.
02:08And I'm like, good.
02:09I would say that the first half was torture to watch.
02:15Yeah.
02:16And they tried to –
02:17It wasn't just the Dolphins.
02:18It was just penalties.
02:20Football.
02:20It was –
02:21It was –
02:22I'm like, oh.
02:23Preseason football.
02:24Oh.
02:25But then we kind of –
02:26we hit a rhythm there in the second half.
02:29And we got some good football from Quinn Ewers.
02:31And we got some good running from Ollie Gordon.
02:34Yep.
02:34The new guys.
02:35The new running backs.
02:37Yeah.
02:37Shampson.
02:37Right off the streets.
02:39Right off the street running like –
02:41Yeah.
02:42Yeah.
02:42So, I thought the second half was a lot more entertaining.
02:45But I don't know, man.
02:46Something about this Ollie Gordon speaks to me.
02:48Yeah.
02:49I like what you're bringing to the table.
02:51And the funny thing is, is that if you run those same plays with A-chan, right?
03:00They do – he runs that way.
03:03He runs very physical.
03:05So, I don't want to hear about the physicality ever again.
03:11Because we have seen this team, when it gets down to it, play a physical style of football.
03:18Never again.
03:19I never can bring it up.
03:20I mean, what if they stink?
03:21Well, and what did I tell you?
03:24We'll know Mike McDaniel's future in the first three weeks of the season.
03:31Pretty much, yes.
03:31I agree with that.
03:33Because –
03:33That's a lot.
03:33And it has nothing to do – but for me, it has nothing to do with wins and losses.
03:40It has to do with how they play and whether it's going to be sustainable in December and January.
03:50And you'll be able to tell.
03:52So, let us get to our headlines, which are brought to you by Doral Kia.
03:58Choose for over 500 new Kia miles in inventory of the sports, Torrento, and Telluride.
04:01And remember, when it comes to Kia, the great deals are at Doral Kia.
04:05As Leroy said, the Dolphins, they beat the Lions 24-17.
04:10Looked like we almost had it for another – well, probably a two-point conversion off for the win.
04:15But huge play at the end of that pick.
04:18Was that a guy's – Ethan Robinson was that guy's name?
04:20Or – that was a hell of a pick that guy had to end the game.
04:24Yeah, it was.
04:25It was like a go-go gadget.
04:27He had the arm up and ended that puppy.
04:30Very, very thrilling win there for the Miami Dolphins.
04:34And they end up winning to get their – and by the way, by my count, you know, the Lions – good for you guys.
04:42You want to practice.
04:43Dolphins, that's two out of three.
04:46They won the series.
04:48They took the series.
04:49Well, and here's the other part that – and I'm going to say this.
04:57I'm going to say this.
05:00Because I understand, like, it is a good building block for the Dolphins to play football in that manner against a team who has been known to be a physical football team.
05:15But it's still preseason.
05:20Okay?
05:21It's a 90-man roster.
05:23And so, although I was impressed with how they played, I'm just going to leave it at that.
05:33The success or failure, the win or the loss, is the least important thing to me.
05:41The most important thing was how they went about business.
05:46So, I'm not going to read into too much about beating the Detroit Lions in preseason.
05:56I'm not.
05:58Hell.
06:00Wait.
06:01What do you make of Chicago beating Buffalo and putting up 500 total yards?
06:06I like it.
06:07Yeah, you like it.
06:08But what – in the big scheme of things, what does it mean?
06:12I don't think it matters.
06:12I don't think it matters.
06:14But I –
06:14See, I'm not coming out of this thing with the score of the Dolphins.
06:19But I do think, like, look, if we're going to have preseason reps and the rookies are going to look really good, I think that's good news.
06:24Yes.
06:25Absolutely.
06:25I don't know how else I'm supposed to take that.
06:28And I thought, you know, I thought yours looked a ton better than he did the first game.
06:34The Dolphins' defensive line, this is the young crop of defensive linemen that they have.
06:38All over the place.
06:39With, you know, obviously Kenny G has made an impression, but Jordan Phillips, new Jordan Phillips.
06:45We like him way better than old Jordan Phillips.
06:47Well, he's almost as big.
06:49New Jordan Phillips was impressive.
06:51He's all over the place causing havoc.
06:52Zeke Biggers is causing havoc.
06:55I like this crop.
06:56How do you be a defensive lineman and your last name is Biggers?
07:02Speaking of the defensive line, we have some Dolphins news this morning.
07:09Kind of.
07:10Matthew Judon is apparently visiting the Miami Dolphins.
07:14Oh, all right.
07:16And I think people are a little confused.
07:18I don't know if I'm reading too much into it, Leroy, but my first reaction when I saw this was like, is Jalen Phillips okay?
07:24Like that was my first piece of, of, but some are saying, you know, maybe they're just trying to temper reps and bring in another vet.
07:31Here's he's, he's a, he's more of an outside linebacker.
07:35Yeah.
07:36So what it does is it gives you some flexibility.
07:39So when you look at Jalen Phillips, I don't want Jalen Phillips dropping in the coverage, but you have somebody like Judah on the vet there.
07:48You can do a lot of different things.
07:51And so I think that's why it's intriguing when you can have, you know, your front forward, depending on what you have, you can drop both of your outside guys out.
08:03There was a couple of, you can go into coverage.
08:05There was a couple of reports this morning that said that the, uh, the, there was a deal in place barring something unforeseen.
08:13And Barry Jackson says the source confirms Judah on visit today, but said there's no negotiated deal agreed to orally or in writing or anything.
08:21So for just now, it's just a visit that could turn into a signing.
08:25Yeah.
08:26No, again, it's, um, keep doing your work, right?
08:32If there's a guy out there that you think can help your team be better, you kick the tires on it.
08:37If, if, if it's amicable and, and, and both sides are happy with, you know, the monetary, you know, result, then you add a, a, a veteran quality player.
08:51So, yeah, I'm just, I think if most people were looking at it, they'd say like, if there's a position that didn't look like it needed any additions, it would probably be the outside linebackers.
09:01Um, you got chopped, you got JP.
09:03That's why I was like, but, but keep, keep, keep in mind when you think of Judah and he, he is more along the lines of what Chubb is.
09:17Chubb can do a lot of different things.
09:19He can drop in the coverage.
09:20He can rush to in, he can stuff the run.
09:23Right.
09:24And when you have that flexibility at that position, whereas if you put chop in or JP in, they're mostly going to rush the passer and stop the run.
09:34I don't want Jalen Phillips back in coverage.
09:38And so it gives you flexibility.
09:40That's all.
09:41Well, uh, we'll see.
09:42We'll follow it up and see if there's any news of it.
09:44Mike McDaniel is going to speak today to reporters.
09:47So we'll see what's what with there.
09:49He did reveal after the game that Zach Sealer and Devon Achan are both dealing with injuries, but should not keep them out for the regular season.
09:55They, he really gave a really wonky answer on it.
09:58It sounded like we're being cautious and they'll be ready to go for the regular season.
10:03Or they just came up with a reason to sit him.
10:06Um, I mean, because sealer packs his lunch and comes to work every day.
10:14So if you tell me sealer, yeah, you, if you're telling me sealer is going to take a couple of days off, I ain't mad at this.
10:25Ain't a situation where I'm worried.
10:27Zach Sealer, the soup right out of the thermos.
10:29Achan, if he doesn't play, you know exactly what he can do.
10:35He's gotten his carries for the preseason.
10:37Remember I told you, you need to get a few carries to know how to get tackled, to know how to break tackles, to know how to fall.
10:44So I'm okay with it.
10:46He got his preseason work and you brought two new guys in and you got a lot of young guys that you probably want to see them get some run.
10:55Zach Sealer puts last night's country fried state between two slabs of bread calls at lunch.
11:02He doesn't even use a Ziploc.
11:03He just throws it in the pail.
11:04Throws it in there.
11:07You know what that's called?
11:09Daddy lunch.
11:10Yeah.
11:10Tells me to say that's a waste of time.
11:12I recall I was over my grandparents.
11:17I was staying over my grandparents' house.
11:19And my grandmother told my grandfather to pack me a lunch.
11:22And he put the peanut butter jar, the jelly jar, two pieces of bread, an apple, and a plastic knife.
11:35And he said, hell, we're at the bottom of both of these.
11:38You can go ahead on and make it yourself.
11:40So I was the only one at lunch actually making my lunch.
11:47Oh, man.
11:48You're a good grandson, though.
11:49Good for you.
11:50Sticking it out.
11:52You're a good man.
