00:00How are you going to feel if Eastlake doesn't get back in the rotation?
00:03Is this a course you'll miss or is it, you know,
00:06if it was part of a rotation every once, every five years, seven years,
00:10do you think we'd enjoy it more than seeing it every year
00:13and there being a handful of complaints about the same set of things
00:18every single year, the way it's set up at least?
00:20I feel almost, I feel bad for Eastlake because it's a,
00:24I think it's a really good golf course.
00:26It's one that I would enjoy playing every single day.
00:29The players have always loved going to Eastlake.
00:32It's some of the best, from an agronomy standpoint,
00:35I think it's the best that we have outside of maybe Sawgrass.
00:39Like it's right there hand in hand.
00:40I think it's the best greens the players putt on the entire year.
00:43They don't get, you know, even, there's only 30 guys,
00:46so it's really perfect playing surfaces that these guys have.
00:49The zoysia is absolutely phenomenal.
00:51The rough is actually strong and it's something that's really challenging
00:55and really, if you don't hit fairways, you're chipping out.
00:58So I think there's so many great penalties at this course, but my, excuse me,
01:04my concern would be if they go to a May event in the spring,
01:07which is when I think that would be the perfect time to really have Atlanta
01:12support the event more because it's just, it's just hot.
01:15Let's, let's be real.
01:16Like Atlanta, late August.
01:17I mean, you're out there, you want to support these guys,
01:20but it's, it is a bit of a chore to go out there and, and, and really have to hydrate.
01:24So you can't have quite as much fun.
01:27I would say that the issues that you would have in Atlanta at that time of the year
01:31is the rough.
01:33Can you get the rough to be healthy enough?
01:35The Bermuda rough that is because really, you know,
01:37June is where you start to, you know,
01:40start to get to where you can kind of get the ball to start sinking down in the rough.
01:43But in May, it may be sitting up and, and maybe just a little bit of rough as all these
01:48players need.
01:49And maybe you can get the greens a little bit firmer, but the one good thing that you
01:53will have in that time of the year is typically, typically you would have a little bit more
01:57wind, which I think would make the golf course play a little bit more fun.
02:00So I, I've, I am for one, I would hope that we don't lose a venue like Eastlake.
02:05We don't need to take it for granted.
02:07I just think because it's been the tour championship and because the format of the tour championship
02:13has been so heavily debated that Eastlake kind of gets sandwiched in there.
02:18It's like, oh man, well, if, if you ended up playing here, it would totally change everything.
02:22I haven't looked forward more to a tour championship than this year than I have in a very long time.
02:28The leaderboard was sick.
02:30I was pumped at the way the golf course was playing the greens.
02:34I mean, there was, they were starting to kind of get that losing friction points where they
02:38were looking almost white.
02:39And so there's that scary part of the green complex, the stuff around the greens with the,
02:45that prism zoysia was so firm and so tight.
02:49So I, I, for one, hope we don't lose it.
02:52I think it's good.
02:54And so that's, unfortunately, I think a lot of people disagree, but when you walk the golf
02:59course three straight years, like I have, I have a pretty good appreciation for, you
03:05know, how, how this place tests these guys, you know, I, for some reason, I always seem
03:10to enjoy it more when it, uh, plays for the Eastlake cup.
03:13I guess I think it's what it's called the collegiate competition they host in like, I think it's
03:16mid to late October.
03:17It forever, maybe it's just, it's not a zillion degrees outside and the guys look like they're
03:21comfortable to a certain degree.
03:23It's like November is when they normally play, which is, yeah, that's when you'll get some
03:28win then.
03:29Yeah.
03:29It's a good little tournament there.
03:31Uh, all right, let's get to the other big news item of the week, which was Brian roll
03:35apps address of, you know, the media prior to this tournament with another set of updates
03:40on what the 2028 PGA tour is going to look like, what the structure is going to be.
03:45We'll get into like some specifics here.
03:47I did.
03:48I want to start big picture first, right?
03:51We're talking about Brian roll app as a CEO, because I've really enjoyed how direct he
03:57is, how the fact he'll, he'll, he'll tell you if he doesn't have the answer to the question.
04:00And then if he's in progress, working on the answer to that question, he'll tell you when
04:04he's going to give you an update.
04:05What are your, what are your thoughts is having watched that press conference and a number
04:09of them now, you know, really dating back to the first, the initial set of news on the
04:14chain structure.
04:15We heard about the players championship, your thoughts on the way Brian roll apps handled the
04:19messaging of all this.
04:21He's sharp, right?
04:22He's definitely prepared.
04:24He's, uh, it seems like he's taken a lot of information, come up with his own opinions.
04:28And when he gets in front of people and starts talking about the tour, you know, he speaks
04:33to what he knows.
04:34I don't think he ever tries to over promise something.
04:37And I think so often fans and media are just wanting answers to things.
04:42And I think he's pretty good at setting certain deadlines for goals for the PGA tour to reach,
04:47whether it's, uh, offering a new schedule or offering new information or answering certain
04:53questions that, you know, the media is going to ask.
04:55It feels like Brian has checked those boxes, um, extremely well.
05:00He's very sharp, uh, hopefully that we can keep him as a PGA tour for a very long time.
05:05I think Brian is going to be judged based off of how, uh, not only the new potential playoffs
05:10will work.
05:11Can he make the playoffs ratings, uh, which we had great ratings at the BMW, uh, and I expect
05:16huge ratings this past week for the tour championship.
05:18Uh, can you continue to make the playoffs, uh, feel more elevated?
05:22Uh, and also too, I think it's going to be, he's going to, he's going to have his work cut
05:28out for him with the whole media deal, uh, with all the other, all the other leagues that
05:33are going to be up at the same time, whether it's the NFL, which all the networks are having
05:37to kind of wait and see what that's going to cost and making sure that they can keep NFL
05:42on their, on their networks.
05:43So that's going to be huge with other leagues that are also battling, making sure that,
05:47that they get new contracts and they up their ante.
