01:33So he's got to be careful.
01:34But good shot by Cole Davies getting around him.

01:37So the 250 class, generally the younger riders in the sport, making a name for themselves.

01:50The rider does only get a limited bit of factory support.
01:53Has been top five week in and week out.
01:56But it looks like he has hurt himself.

02:05Back to the 37 of Davies, you see here on screen.
02:09In the first race earlier today, able to take the championship lead away from Levi Kitchen.
02:15Now he's running second.
02:16And Kitchen, his title rival, is in sixth.
02:20Yeah, I think at this point, after that first moto, Cole was able to get all those points.
02:25And considering where Levi finished, I think he's pretty comfortable.
02:27His main goal was to make sure he got through that first corner and get through the first lap.
02:31He's done that.
02:32So even if you start to see that 47 coming up, I don't think you're going to see too much
02:36reaction from Cole Davies.
02:37Because of the points, the way they run right now.
02:40Well, you look at the championship points as they run.
02:42It will be a 22-point lead for Davies.
02:45If you freeze the field like this, you can only score 25 points maximum if you win one of these
02:51individual motos or races.
02:53So that's a big gap for Davies right now.
02:56Kitchen is going to have to get to work.
02:58And he is.
02:58He has moved around Cade and Dundee from sixth to fifth.
03:02And we could have an on-track battle between Davies and Kitchen.

03:11As they run a 22-point lead with, let's say, two and a half motos to go here.
03:16At what point do you start thinking about championship if you're Cole Davies?
03:21This point of the series with the biggest lead he's had in the championship so far.
03:25Yeah, I mean, I think you're aware of it right now.
03:27Especially if the 47 comes up to you.
03:30It's not like you're going to change too much.
03:32But what you will do if Levi Kitchen starts putting that pressure on you,
03:35you might just kind of let him go instead of really fighting him.
03:37So Cole's doing a great job as Levi makes the pass around Landon Gordon,
03:42who finished third at first moto.
03:43So, yeah, JT, I think he's thinking about it.
03:46But he's going to continue to race and let things play out
03:48and then adjust accordingly from there.
03:51That's a big move there, James.
03:53Levi Kitchen on the 47.
03:54That's the Monster Energy Pro Sergeant Kawasaki, the rider out of Washington State.
04:00Everything that could have gone wrong in the first race today did.
04:04And that's why he gave up the championship lead.
04:06This is his chance to get some points back.

04:13But you can see Levi got a top 10 start.

04:17And you see the distance between him and Cole Davies.

04:26He's riding really good.
04:27He's going to have to make a lot of time up as Parker Ross is doing a great job right

05:02A couple of weeks ago, Ross had a good start like this.

05:05Even though Levi had a rough one, he looked good on the motorcycle.

05:09And then what you have is a rider who just lost the points lead.

05:13And it's pretty simple for him.
05:14He knows exactly what he has to do.
05:16He has to go for broke.
05:17And hopefully needs a little help.
05:19But you got to beat Cole Davies here.
05:21If he's going to do his best to run him down.
05:24Going to be a battle of the stopwatch now.
05:26Six seconds between Davies in second.
05:30And Kitchin here in third.
05:33Kitchin has to catch Davies.
05:34And at least make up some points on him in this moto.

06:53Kind of what we saw with Hunter Lawrence last weekend.
06:56Luckily for him, that hill is not that steep.
06:57But costly early in the race for rider DeFrancisco, real great.

07:06Kitchin's got to dig deep.
07:07He actually lost a little bit of time to Davies and Hymas.
07:11The last lap around.
07:14And you can compare the times.
07:15First of all, that's the difference.
07:17Davies all alone and Kitchin having to make passes.
07:20That lap two, massive difference.
07:22Yeah, early in the race.
07:23And, you know, this track is notorious about if you don't get a start,
07:27how much time you lose to the leader.
07:28A 10th place start.
07:29You might have to be in 20th at other tracks because of the distance.
07:32But, if I feel pretty comfortable, he takes a look over.
07:36I mean, he made quite a bit of mistakes that we saw.
07:38And, yes, he lost time, but it wasn't a lot.
07:42It's okay now.
07:42He's got to put some clean laps.
07:44Talk about a router who's been putting clean laps today.
07:47It's Chance Hymas.
07:48Started off the championship as a favorite coming in here.
07:52Had a rough stretch and then just been slowly getting better.
07:56Eventually got a moto win.
07:57Now he's running up towards the front.
07:59Let's see what he can do.
08:01Yeah, Hymas, a long list of injuries.
08:04So, in the past, he's been fast enough to win these races.
08:06This year has been more of a rebuild.
08:08He's getting better week in, week out.
08:10Now aiming for his first win in the summer.
08:12But he'll have an opportunity when those playoffs begin.
08:15In a couple weeks, there'll be a points reset.
08:17And if he can catch fire at the right time, he can win that.
08:20And we asked him about his chances last week.
08:25Yeah, I mean, winning in general is awesome.
08:28And, obviously, winning that would be pretty unbelievable.
08:31I'm really looking forward to the challenge of it.
08:34Like I said, I haven't spent a lot of time on it.
08:36So, hopefully I can get on it here soon in the next couple weeks, maybe next week,
08:40and get training for it.
08:42But, yeah, I'm just excited to go racing, you know, back to the tight racing, super crossy-type tracks.
08:48So, yeah, it's going to be fun.
08:51We do talk about the build-back season that Chance Hymas is going through right now.
08:55That's kind of been, like, on track, physically, on his bike, but mentally between years as well.
09:01Because letting that confidence build back, and the expectation is this balance, right, James?
09:07It's like you want it, but at the same time, you can't push too hard.
09:10You have to let those results come to you, and Chance is in that sort of area right now
09:15where he said to me today, he's like, I really want to get a win here before the season's out.
09:19Of course, we've only got two rounds here to go, and it's on the table here today.
09:24So, maybe he's going to be the beneficiary of Davies and pitch him back in for the title here behind
09:29him,
09:29and perhaps a championship mode that they might be going into.
09:32But for Chance Hymas right now, this really wouldn't be all his work that he's been putting in,
09:38paying off him just one round to go.

09:41It was a shoulder injury in the stadium races in Supercross that he did not think would be
09:46that difficult to come back from at first.
09:48He's pretty stubborn, lost a lot of flexibility, even that frozen shoulder at one point.
09:53They've been able to work through that, and now he's building the confidence back
09:57to be a race winner.

27:44I mean, at this point, we talked about the overall in this pass, you know, so he can

27:50Pressure is going to cash this check if he's going to hang on and deal with it.
27:53Of course, Levi Kitchen needs that as well.
27:56He needs some three points.
28:06Oh, these ruts are so treacherous.
28:08You see how many bikes we've seen down or stuck on the side of the track while these
28:12two continue to push the pace.
28:15Yeah, so I think what's happening right here, you saw Levi make that top-up to Chance.
28:20So what he's doing right now, he wants to stay out of the ruts, but as Levi, you understand
28:24you've got the speed.
28:25You got him.
28:26You're able to come catch him.
28:28You got two and a half minutes left or two minutes left.
28:30So he's starting to figure out where I'm going to pass this guy at.
28:33So you're going to see him drop back, kind of take a breath, regroup, and then attack
28:38the number 29, Chance Hymus.
28:40Because he knows he's got speed, he can close up on him.
28:43But at the same time, you got to give Chance credit for being where Levi wants and fighting
28:48this thing towards the end.
28:49Yeah.
28:49You mentioned when you're the lead rider, you also tend to know where some of the passing
28:53areas are.
28:54So Hymus is going to hustle there as well.
28:55Yeah.
28:56So there was at some point in this race that Chance was trying to keep Levi at a distance.
29:00Once he realized that that wasn't going to happen, you almost kind of let the guy catch
29:04you because you understand he's coming.
29:05So let me save a little energy and understand I'm going to be here to fight this thing towards
29:10the end.
29:10So what Chance is doing, there's only certain parts of this racetrack that's easier to pass
29:14or you can make passes, go fast there, relax in the other part because you know this guy
29:19won't be able to pass you.
29:20That's what you're seeing from the Chance Hymus.
29:22Yeah.
29:26There's the mechanic.
29:29Tommy Harris for Hymus trying to get his rider his first win of 2026.
29:37As for Kitchen, this would be the difference between being down 14 points on Davies going
29:43into the finale or 11.
29:46And that is a big difference late in the year like this.
29:50Hymus riding well under pressure.
29:52Yeah, going back to my point, you can see now Chance is starting to stretch it out.
29:56Like they picked up the pace.
29:58Now I believe Chance was relaxing, understanding Levi was coming.
30:02And so for Levi, what he's got to do, when you get to these tracks that are harder to pass,
30:06you can't waste opportunities.
30:08So you can't show Chance where you might go to do it.
30:10So you're going to have to sit back and get it and attack him.
30:14So make sure you can make that pass because you can show him on a guy a track that's hard
30:18to pass.
30:18You're running out of these opportunities and that's what Levi's trying to do.
30:21Chance gets around that lap rider.
30:23Great move by him.
30:27Two and a half laps to go.
30:29Hymus, as you can see, would win the overall today if he holds off for this moto win.
30:33As for Kitchen, a great salvage job for second in this race, getting around more traffic,
30:38having problems.
30:39This is what it looked like earlier today.
30:41First of all, the track condition is totally different.
30:44Massive rain this morning to track this money.
30:49And Kitchen, it looked like he had the perfect start off the gate, but it actually turned
30:54out to be a little bit too good.
30:55He goes up on the grass on the right side of the screen and he was actually penalized four
31:00positions for that.
31:02The grass a little bit more firm in the mud, got him to the lead.
31:06And then while leading on lap one ahead of Hymus, he goes down.
31:09Yeah, costly for him.
31:11And when we started to show, there was one point separating these two and they were one and
31:15two up there.
31:15So for him, he goes down.
31:18And this is a rotter determination.
31:20He did quit.
31:20He kept fighting.
31:21You never know.
31:22Those points that he got might loom large in this championship if he goes on and somehow
31:28wins it, Will.
31:30James, we know Levi Kitchen is a fighter.
31:32We've seen it throughout his whole career.
31:34But it was fascinating talking to him earlier on in the season.
31:38His good friend, Ken Rockson, who for those who watched the Supercross battle earlier in
31:43the year just come down from 31 points, Ken Rockson behind, to winning that title.
31:49Good friend of his.
31:50Levi told me, I'm going to channel that.
31:53I'm listening to Ken.
31:54If he can get that done through just pure self-belief, he's like, I can get this title done too.
32:01So interesting to think that he's leaning on his veteran rider friend there to just try
32:07and get this done.
32:08And we've seen from the 450s anything can happen.
32:10And I know right now Levi is not giving up.
32:13He certainly is not willing.
32:15Back within sight of Hymas with two laps to go.
32:20Yeah, you really see Levi in charge.
32:23And it also shows you who kind of has the pace.
32:26I think Chance just sitting back and like, I'm going to try to push.
32:29Levi closes that gap up.
32:31Just make sure I go past where I think he might go to pass.
32:36Chance is a smart rider.
32:38He's won these races before.
32:39He got a moto win a few races ago, so he's finished position fairly recently.
32:47You look at that overall for the weekend.
32:50Shout out to Landon Gordon, the young man from California.
32:53Third in the first race.
32:55Seventh here in the second.
32:56And the 3-7 would be enough for him to get on the overall podium.
33:01Third place for the day.
33:02Because Kitchen is not in contention for it because of the bad first moto.
33:06Kitchen, though, the big triple jump uphill.
33:09Going to put in one last attack on Hymas.
33:12He made a mistake in that corner.
33:14Lost a little bit of time.
33:14Chance wasn't able to hit that uphill triple.
33:16And you saw the trickle effect.
33:18The momentum that Levi was able to catch.
33:20So now you're getting to crunch time because you've got one lap essentially to get it done.
33:26So no point in saving the moves.
33:28You're going to have to go in there possibly take a chance and move him out the way.
33:32Oh, it's a chance worth taking for Kitchen.
33:35Hymas wants this race win.
33:36Kitchen wants the moto win for the points.
33:40White flag coming out after this series of jumps.
33:48Chance Hymas coming back from shoulder surgery.
33:52Earlier this year, it has been a slow rebuild.
33:54It has led to this.
33:56Back to the point where he's leading races.
33:58Can he get back to the point where he's winning races?
34:01Chance wants to get around this lap rider.
34:03Now he did.
34:04Let's see if this lap rider moves out of the way.
34:06Because it funnels into one line.
34:08He doesn't.
34:09And I believe he's going to end up getting Levi caught.
34:12Watch this gap.
34:14This makes a small mistake right there.
34:15But Levi kind of caught this guy in the worst position.
34:18Too bad he was able to get around him.
34:19But if you're Chance Hymas, you know, hey, this is it.
34:23I can go ahead and hold on to this race.
34:25I'm going to win my first overall victory here.
34:28So you let it all hang out with only about a half a lap left.
34:32Levi Kitchen, you're going to have to throw everything at him.
34:34Three points.
34:35You need those points.
34:37Who's going to get it done?
34:41Pressure is on.
34:42Remember, there's that uphill triple that Kitchen does have in his back pocket.
34:46But can he nail the corner after?
34:48Wasn't able to do it the last time.
34:50Oh, he's right there.
34:52So if you're Chance Hymas, you understand there's one section I need to get.
34:56I need to hit this uphill triple.
34:57I just saw how much time I lost.
34:59So I'm going to get through this corner.
35:01Make sure I get this flag squared up and get on the back.

35:06He got it.
35:06He got the uphill triple.
35:08Kitchen does it as well.
35:10And Hymas able to get to the inside.
35:13Fantastic riding under pressure.

35:19It hit the single to get it done.
35:21He needed to get it done right there.
35:23Might be the difference between holding him on.
35:25Another tough section.
35:27But he can get through here.
35:29Chance Hymas might be able to hang on and win this race.
35:32What a great route by both of these riders.
35:34The rider has had three ACL surgeries.
35:36But he said that never got in his head as far as worrying about injury.
35:39There's something about this shoulder surgery this year,
35:43which from a medical perspective shouldn't have been that bad.
35:45It was the first time he was ever riding, worried about getting hurt.
35:47It has taken a lot of work to block that out, to rebuild himself physically and mentally.
35:53And he has done it.
35:55Chance Hymas, 2-1 scores, takes the Bunce Creek National.
36:00Seven different winners this year.
36:02That is an all-time record for parity in this 250 class.
36:06Seven winners in 10 rounds.
36:09Kitchen will finish second in the moto.
36:11But Cole Davies, in many ways, the real winner today.
36:15The 18-year-old New Zealand native.
36:17He's going to finish second.
36:20But he will outscore Levi Kitchen overall.
36:23Because Kitchen had the bad first moto.
36:25And he will retake the points lead going into the finale.
36:29He was one point down when the day began.
36:31He will have the red plate of the leader heading into next weekend's race in Indy.
36:36But Chance Hymas, you see the huge exhale and the smile.
36:41He has won the day in Maryland.
