00:00Brian looked amazing in that qualifying. Took all of us by surprise.
00:03Michael Hicks was also ripping in qualifying. He was in the top four, almost qualified for Super Bowl.
00:08But Cole Thompson, the Canadian, bumped him out on the final lap of qualifying.
00:12So those are the names that you need to know before we drop the gate in the SX2 division.
00:17It's a three-race format, eight laps, eight laps, twelve.
00:21And the points will elevate in that final race, putting a little extra weight for the final race of the
00:26night.
00:28Oh, this has been a big build-up for these last couple of days.
00:32And here we go. The clock is ticking down. 25-24. SX2, race number one on the gate.
00:39Max Ancy, your defending champion. He's got challengers in Cameron McAdoo, Devin Simonson.
00:45Watch out for Robbie Wageman, Ryan Brees, Henry Miller.
00:49Some of the riders that raced SX1 a year ago, they dropped back down to SX2 where they're more comfortable.
00:54This is going to be a battle. But the championship will go through.
00:58The Rick Ware Racing number one machine of Max Ancy. And it starts now.
01:03And it looks like we have two Stark Vags out in front.
01:06We've been wondering all weekend if that was going to happen.
01:09And they go one and two. The crew in Barcelona are back there screaming right now.
01:14Brian Su was your fastest in qualifying. Absolutely ripping.
01:18You saw the power down the straightaway right there.
01:20Michael Hicks in second. You've got the defending champ, Max Ancy, third.
01:24Simonson, fourth. And then a pair of Suzuki's running 5-6.
01:27We have all of the hitters up there. I can see Cameron McAdoo just entering into the frame now.
01:32Man, nobody was talking about Brian Su at all coming into this championship.
01:37He was so unknown. And he is leading this first SX2 race.
01:41Here's the big test. Through the whoops. The Stark Vag has been challenged there in the past.
01:45Nice run by Su. But for Max Ancy, he blitzes up the inside of Michael Hicks in a second.
01:50Yeah, that is vintage Max Ancy. And that number one plate is looking great on the front of that Rick
01:56Ware Racing.
01:57Getting used to seeing Max Ancy in this position. But Hicks is coming back at him.
02:01Ooh, Hicks up the inside. He could have been a little meaner right there, but he doesn't.
02:04He checks up. And for Ancy now, a slight bit of defense needed to hold off Hicks when he needs
02:09to go on offense and get after Sue.
02:11Hicks is not letting go of Ancy, eh? He has made so many strides over this offseason.
02:16He has been excited to get back into racing. He has not dropped off the back of Ancy.
02:21Yellow flags are out. There's a rider down. Must be at the end of this rhythm section. No flags.
02:26Oh, that looks like a Kawasaki right there. Is that Cameron McAdoo looking at the running order? No, it's not.
02:34One of the Bud riders.
02:34It's one of the Bud racing riders. Looks like Henry Miller is down in 16th.
02:38That has to be Miller as Sue continues to lead the race. Ancy is in the second.
02:43Hicks third. Simonson fourth. So it's a Stark Vs. Rick Ware-Yamaha battle.
02:46This is unbelievable. Devin Simonson, he's made his way up onto the back of Hicks now.
02:52Hicks has been so far through this first sector, though, the shortest sector on this track.
02:56He seems like he's really able to get the power on the ground over those first little roller obstacles.
03:01This is so rad for Brian Sue. He said in the qualifying show he hasn't raced a Supercross in three
03:06years.
03:07We saw the speed. Jason, we questioned how will we do when the gate drops well.
03:10He's answering that question now.
03:12Yeah, this is unbelievable. And he was a phenom racing in Europe on the same team as Ken Robson.
03:18Both of those guys were young superstars for Suzuki.
03:21His career went in a little bit of a different direction.
03:23I watched him race the last round at the Japanese Nationals last year.
03:27That was the first time he really came on my radar.
03:29And he's pulling away from Max Ancy right now.
03:32Nice run. Ancy goes 3-1 to the inside. So a little bit of a line change up there.
03:36There's Simonson. I was wondering, how long is he going to wait before he gets aggressive as that battle starts
03:40to creep away from third and fourth?
03:42It looks like Higgs might have had a little issue there, but he seems to have regathered it right now.
03:47This is what we were waiting for.
03:50This is what we were waiting for with the Starks.
03:52If anyone at home has ridden a Starks, you'd know just how efficiently these bikes get the power down to
03:58the ground.
03:59Supercross is obviously such a new and unique discipline.
04:03But, man, year two for the Starks future team. And this is impressive.
04:07The sprint race delivers 10 points to the winner all the way down to one.
04:11These races are weighted towards the end of the night.
04:14So the final race of the night will get the full 25 points.
04:16But if you're Brian Sue right now, stick the first 10 on the board if you can.
04:20Max Anstey sitting there right in his shadows, but hasn't been able to close the gap.
04:23Kristen.
04:25Brian Sue. Watching Brian Sue. Watching Brian Sue. Watching Brian Sue. Watching Brian Sue.
04:38Devin Simonson sitting in third now. Checks over his shoulder.
04:42Michael Hicks is right there. He's opened up just enough of a gap to where he can stop with the
04:46defense,
04:46get back to the offense as Max Anstey and Brian Sue continue to pull away.
04:51Yeah, this is a really, really great battle both up front and for this final position on the podium.
04:58It looks like Simonson might have finally broke the toe just a little bit of Hicks.
05:03Let's see if he can set off after his teammate.
05:06That's what he has been talking about all weekend.
05:08I love that Devin Simonson is not scared to throw it out there.
05:12He wants to talk the talk and he wants to back it up.
05:14Let's talk about the Stark.
05:16Oh, Max Anstey says, hold up, don't talk about the Stark.
05:18Talk about me up the inside.
05:20Does he make the pass?
05:21And he does.
05:22Nice move.
05:23Max Anstey into the lead.
05:25That is what you expect from the champ.
05:30But I think Sue has something to say about it.
05:32He's right on his back tire.
05:34Goes a little out to end right there.
05:36But for Max Anstey, he was so efficient in his super pull.
05:39It was the best lap he put down all day.
05:41And now with a little more traction in the soil, a little bit more comfort with this track,
05:45Anstey has the clear track and a chance to run away.
05:47It's going to be really interesting now to see what Max Anstey does with this lead.
05:51The track is treacherous out there tonight.
05:54And I think that Max Anstey's experience is going to play such a massive factor.
05:59If there's anybody that is comfortable leading a World Supercross SX2 race, it's that guy right there.
06:04We are running out of time for Devin Simonson.
06:06If he wants to get to second, he's going to have to pull off some miracle speed to get to
06:10Sue.
06:10And for Anstey, I love the whoops, the 3-1 to the inside.
06:14That's just great race craft right there for the number one machine.
06:17Yeah, just carrying so much momentum through that section.
06:19It's Devin Simonson. He wants to join his teammate up front.
06:24How aggressive is he going to do?
06:27Devin Simonson, well played. Nice little checkup from Brian Sue.
06:31Didn't do it enough. Simonson with a little mistake right there.
06:34But that was a patient move for the 70 machine.
06:37And if you're Rick Ware right now, you are loving what you are seeing.
06:39You've got Max Anstey out front.
06:41Devin Simonson, who run the SX1 division last year, drops down and now runs second in race number one of
06:48a three-race format.
06:48What a way to start the night for Rick Ware Racing.
06:51That was aggressive, but that was measured aggression.
06:54Brian Sue is just enough behind him now that he can't launch a retaliation attack.
06:59But it wasn't so dirty that there's going to be any payback in that.
07:02That was great race craft by Devin Simonson.
07:05And like you said, dream start for this championship.
07:07That's a topic that we have been following all week.
07:09It's just how hard they have gone to take this championship off the Quad Lock Honda team.
07:14Speaking of the Quad Lock Honda team, none of their guys in this picture right now.
07:18Cameron McAdoo has made his way up to fifth, getting by Kyle Peters, running through the order.
07:22You see Brodie Conley, that's going to be a great story this season.
07:25Cole Thompson, Crockett Myers, and Ryan Brees running top ten.
07:29And it looks like Sue has now been passed by Hicks.
07:33I'm not sure if there's a problem there, but he has dropped off the pace dramatically in just a lap.
07:39Anstey is gone. Simonson is gone.
07:42If you're Cameron McAdoo, every point will matter for this championship.
07:45He goes from five to four.
07:47Can he go to four to three?
07:49With just a couple corners left, we know McAdoo could rip the whoops.
07:52We know Michael Hicks is a great whoop rider as well.
07:55That might be what dictates the story for third.
07:57Yeah, and that position is going to be crucial when we come to the overall for Max Anstey.
08:04The Max Anstey show has begun.
08:06It actually started in Super Bowl.
08:07He backs it up with the first race win of the 2026 World Supercross Championship.
08:12It's Max Anstey.
08:14That was absolute control.
08:16He might not have led all of those laps, but something tells me that he had that entire race under
08:22control.
08:23Michael Hicks matches his best World Supercross finish in the first final of the year with the podium.
08:29Brian Sue across the finish line as well.
08:31Kyle Peters had a great run right there, too.
08:33Sue was in the battle, finishes sixth, but he was right there, close to third in that race.
08:38You have to imagine these guys are going to go back to the pits, process, analyze, learn a thing or
08:43two,
08:43and come back and make the improvements needed to improve in race number two of the SX2 division.
08:50Nice ride for Anstey and Simonson and Hicks as they go one, two, three in the first race of the
08:55season.
08:55Way to set the tone.
08:57Yeah, I mean, I just, I love that the Starks went out and qualified fastest in that first session with
09:02Sue.
09:03Hicks matches his best result in the first round of the season.
09:06So, yeah, this is going to be a fly.
09:09We weren't, we weren't really talking about starting that team championship.
09:16Anstey is ripping through those whoops.
09:18That might be the story.
09:19I mean, it's so good.
09:21He's able to get that triple out to the inside.
09:23That line is only available if you go 3-1, and the three's only available if you rip the whoops.
09:29So Anstey might have something right there that nobody else has.
09:32As he takes the victory early, Simonson and Hicks round out the top three.
09:37McAdoo up to fourth.
09:38He needed to get those points.
09:39Nice ride by Cameron McAdoo.
09:41Brian Sue, Peters, Connelly, Thompson, Myers, and Robbie Wageman's able to fight back for a top ten finish on his
09:49Honda.
