00:00Click into second, third, maybe even fourth down this long start straight.
00:03The Starks don't do any of that.
00:05It is all throttle, power to the ground,
00:08and that is why they've had that advantage in both of these first races.
00:12The track crew got out there and made some changes,
00:14a little improvement here and there.
00:16I want to see the whoop section on the first lap.
00:19How will those break down throughout the night?
00:21Because when they're brand new, you can come in, chase real aggressive,
00:24and just kind of hang on to it.
00:25But as they break down, there's little cuffs, there's little divots.
00:28That's when you've got to start strategizing,
00:30and I think that's when Max Anstey will probably make his biggest games
00:33as we even get deeper into the night.
00:35Yeah, his experience is going to be on full display every single race this season.
00:43Here we go, SX2, race number two.
00:47Max Anstey was the big winner in the first one.
00:50Simonson battled his way to second.
00:51Cameron McAdoo fought to fourth.
00:54It was Michael Hicks who rounded out the podium in third.
00:56They're the four to watch in this race.
00:58You see Cole Thompson on the 16, Kyle Peters on the 110,
01:01both in the inside as the clock ticks down.
01:05Five, four, three, and we're about to get underway.
01:08This is SX2, race number two, gate down.
01:13No surprises who is out front once again,
01:16but I am seeing a green fender in there in third position,
01:20and it looks like, oh, that might be Brody Connolly.
01:23Brody Connolly in the top five.
01:26It looks like Jack Chambers and Luke Fowser,
01:29an amateur KTM rider who was just turning professional,
01:32gets the call from the 595 racing team.
01:35He was scheduled to race Loretta Linz,
01:36and now he's up front in a World Supercross main event.
01:39Jumping straight into the deep end, mad respect,
01:42but it is the same story as Moto1.
01:45Sue out front, Hicks in second.
01:48This first run through the whoops is going to tell the story.
01:51Both of the guys jumping.
01:52How about Connolly, though?
01:53This is a great start for him.
01:54He's the quadlock rider.
01:56Not a lot of Supercross experience when it comes to his racing,
01:58but a lot of talent.
01:59Look at Anstey getting physical right away.
02:01He knows who's out front and who's getting away.
02:04Man, this opening lap for Anstey is actually incredible.
02:07He was buried in the pack.
02:08If you can see where Simonson is, they were together.
02:10Max has had a dream run on these opening laps,
02:14and you're right about Connolly.
02:15He's probably a name that not a lot of guys have heard,
02:18but in the limited Supercross races that he has done,
02:21he has been fierce, not scared to backpars.
02:25Another talented Kiwi that we have on the world stage.
02:29Jack Chambers, too.
02:30Nice start to this race.
02:31Sitting in fifth right now, you see Fouser sixth,
02:33McAdoo seventh, Simonson eighth.
02:36So two of the favorites in this championship
02:37having to dig through the field.
02:39You see Wageman coming up the inside there as well.
02:41I'm sorry, that's Ryan Brees on the number 200 machine
02:44up the inside on Simonson.
02:47No, but it's the two Starks running one, two.
02:50There's Anstey again.
02:50Three, one to the inside.
02:52Not close enough, but he is closing in.
02:54And I wonder what adjustments Sue has made
02:57in this second race.
02:58The start's obviously not a problem,
03:00but he did fall off the pace.
03:02So very interesting to see what he changed,
03:04if anything,
03:04and if he is going to be able to put up more of a fight.
03:08He has not dropped his teammate, Hicks,
03:09in these opening laps.
03:10And if you're Michael Hicks right now,
03:12if you can get to the lead and have some open track,
03:14you might be able to get away.
03:15He hung in there in that first race.
03:18Will he be aggressive with his teammate
03:20with a possible win sitting in front of him?
03:22He goes out to end with a little cut in,
03:24but Sue hangs in tough.
03:26This is awesome racing by these boys out front.
03:31Brodie Connolly just dropped a tiny bit off Max.
03:33He was right there at the end of that first rhythm section.
03:37Looks like the boys have this jump line dialed now.
03:41Max charging his way through the whoops.
03:43This three, one, you've seen it all night.
03:45Oh, it's so fast.
03:45And you can get to that.
03:47Oh, how aggressive will he be early in this race?
03:50Let's go down to Chris and Beat for more.
03:52This team manager, and I asked him the question
04:05you were asking, Jace,
04:07which was what changes did they maybe make
04:08after Brian Sue and Jeep Race 1 dropped off the pace?
04:11He said he made no changes at all.
04:13It was his fitness.
04:14He wasn't feeling as confident on the track.
04:15They've now re-strategized and talked about line selection
04:18to improve Brian Sue's efficiency late in the race, guys.
04:22And for Max Anstey, now it is tightening up
04:25between Brian Sue, Michael Hicks, Max Anstey.
04:28Look at Brodie Connolly.
04:29What a ride in fourth as McAdoo and Simonson
04:33now running 570.
04:34Got Chambers in there as well.
04:36Here goes Anstey up the inside.
04:37Three, one.
04:38Hicks does it too, but out to the outside.
04:41He squares up at Anstey.
04:42You see him check up right there.
04:43That's so crafty, man.
04:45And I love what he's doing with that three, one.
04:47You're getting so much momentum to hit that triple
04:50as you come into that turn.
04:51But then you can soak up that single coming in
04:54to that next turn, go up to the inside,
04:56and you can just control the corner.
04:59Max Anstey up into second place.
05:01The laps are counting down.
05:03Will he make a run at the leader?
05:05You know he'll try.
05:06Brian Sue looks a little bit better in this race
05:08than he did in race one.
05:10I love those twos right there.
05:11He's getting out of those flat corners.
05:13We'll see if he gets this one as well.
05:14Anstey going to the inside, going roll.
05:17Sue doing a completely different rhythm.
05:20And I love this track.
05:21It's got some options that way.
05:22I think it's going to play a role later in the night too
05:24as it dries up just a little bit.
05:26And here comes Anstey ripping the whoops.
05:28Wheels in.
05:32A little bit of a kick for Max Anstey,
05:35but you got Michael Hicks sitting in third, Kristen.
05:37Max, this is such an interesting dynamic, right?
05:41Because you want to focus on moving forward.
05:43You want to focus on Brian Sue.
05:44But when you have a rider like Michael Hicks behind you,
05:46you have to decide, am I racing forward?
05:48Am I racing defensively?
05:49Daniel, what is the right choice in this instance?
05:52I think that's a tough call, Jay.
05:53I mean, you're in a moment where you have a race opportunity,
05:56a win.
05:57You're tempted to always take the aggressive move,
06:00but at the same time, you've got to look big picture.
06:02So I don't know.
06:03Personally, as a racer,
06:04I usually make the wrong call in these situations.
06:06I'm not the best to ask.
06:07Hey, I'm even worse to ask some of you,
06:09but I do think Max Anstey is in the best headspace of his career.
06:15He is so in control of this world championship.
06:17He is so in control of his own destiny,
06:20it feels like when it comes to this series.
06:22He is the big name in this title fight.
06:25Another epic run through that works.
06:27Probably only a matter of time
06:28until he answers that question for us.
06:30Here comes Cameron McAdoo.
06:32He is closing in on Michael Hicks for the third position.
06:35You see Simonson has made his way to fifth.
06:38Ryan Su continuing to lead this race.
06:41Flawless little mistakes,
06:43but everyone's making them, Jay.
06:45So they're not big.
06:45They're not costing him time,
06:47but he is losing time right now.
06:49Max Anstey closes that gap little by little
06:53as the lap counter clicks down.
06:55Yeah, that's what I was just about to say.
06:56He is making a little mistake here and there,
06:59and he is losing a bit of time,
07:00but these laps are winding down.
07:02Max Anstey knows that this long,
07:04challenging move section
07:05is the ace that he has in his sleeve.
07:09Two different rhythms.
07:11Sue threes out.
07:12Anstey with a three double on the way out.
07:14Now Anstey switches up.
07:16That's a different line for him
07:17as he blitzes by the right.
07:19Three one.
07:19What will Sue do here?
07:20Does he get aggressive?
07:21Anstey cuts over, takes the lead again.
07:25That was unbelievable from Max Anstey.
07:28I've got to think that Brian Su
07:29might have had something for him
07:30if he didn't make just a little bit
07:32of a mistake exiting that section.
07:34Max Anstey, final lap in control.
07:38Does Sue have anything for him
07:39on this last lap?
07:40Oh, he's going to go for it.
07:41A win is sitting right there,
07:42but here comes Hicks again,
07:43and Hicks might be sitting with a three three
07:45after these first two races,
07:47but for Max Anstey,
07:49the maturity, the veteran move
07:51to move over to a completely different line
07:53when his whoop line was taken away.
07:55He sticks to the blitz.
07:57Three one from out to in.
07:59What an awesome move
08:01for the defending champ
08:02to take the lead.
08:03And Sue isn't not safe there in second.
08:05No, here comes Hicks.
08:07Late in race one,
08:08he was making moves.
08:09Here we go,
08:10the two Stark Fargs
08:11battling it out for second
08:12as Anstey blitz right in between.
08:14Two different runs.
08:15Hicks goes three one
08:16from the outside,
08:17gets into second.
08:19And Cameron McAdoo
08:20has not given up
08:22for a second through this race.
08:24Max Anstey wins.
08:25Max Anstey wins again.
08:28Solid win too.
08:30Great race craft.
08:32Very patient.
08:33Waited until he knew he could get it.
08:35Didn't override the moment.
08:37Grabs the win.
08:39Simonson comes across in fifth.
08:40Great ride again
08:41by Michael Hicks in second.
08:44Only 1.8 down in the moto.
08:47Sitting right there.
08:49Creeping on a win.
08:50All the points are weighted
08:51to race three too.
08:53He's in this thing
08:53but Max Anstey has proven
08:55why he is a champion
08:56over and over tonight.
08:57He wins.
08:58SX2 race two
09:00with a classic pass.
09:02Out to in.
09:04Changes lines.
09:05Grabs a checkered flag.
09:07What a ride for Rick Ware Racing's
09:09Max Anstey,
09:09your defending champ.
09:22So with Hicks second,
09:24Sue third,
09:25McAdoo fourth,
09:26Simonson in fifth,
09:27it's going to be a tight battle
09:28for the podium tonight.
09:29Bye-bye.
09:30Bye-bye.
09:30Bye-bye.
