00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're taking a look at 10 video games that have some high

00:09expectations to live up to.

00:26Assassin's Creed Shadows

00:33Over the last decade, Ubisoft has struggled to retain Assassin's Creed fans.

00:38Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla have chased away fans of the original games.

00:43You know, the ones where you have to be quiet and sneak around, like an assassin.

00:48Mirage was a step in the right direction, but was simply too bland and basic in its

00:52upgrade system and combat.

00:54Shadows is already showing how fatigued audiences are, as fans spent years asking for an Assassin's

01:00Creed set in Japan before Sony swooped in with Ghost of Tsushima in 2020.

01:05Couple that with all of the feudal Japan games that have been cropping up left and right

01:09recently, and Ubisoft might be too little, too late.

01:20Dragon Age The Veil Guard

01:25Bioware has been on a really bad losing streak over the last several years.

01:30Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem were such colossal failures on account of mismanagement

01:35and reliance on the mythical Bioware magic, and with so many of the original Bioware staff

01:41having left after Mass Effect 3, many of us are skeptical about not just the next Mass

01:46Effect game, but Dragon Age The Veil Guard.

01:49Its showing during Summer Game Fest was a rather tumultuous one, as we first got a teaser

01:54trailer that was completely void of the grit the original games had.

01:58The demo we saw later on was much more appealing, and saw positive reception from fans.

02:03No matter how you feel about it though, it's no secret that Veil Guard cannot be anything

02:08less than great.

02:09If this doesn't hit, the future of Bioware may be bleak.

02:16The Wolf Among Us 2

02:27We do have some confidence in The Wolf Among Us 2.

02:30Not only is the game being worked on by former Telltale staff, it's also being approached

02:35with great care for the story, its characters, and the health of its staff.

02:39What has us on edge though, is the overall slow and segmented revival of Telltale across

02:45all the different studios.

02:47How many of the original staff are still around?

02:50How many wound up at other studios?

02:52We're sure the game will turn out great, but with other studios of former Telltale

02:56staff not putting much out aside from remasters and ports, we're a bit nervous.

03:04Vampire The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

03:14Bloodlines 2 has seen an incredibly tumultuous development to the point where it's astounding

03:19how this project is still going.

03:22The game was originally going to be developed by Hardsuit Labs, but the studio was taken

03:26off of the project after key developers were let go.

03:29Publisher Paradox Interactive has since moved the project to the Chinese Room, a developer

03:34known mostly for walking simulators like Dear Esther, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture,

03:39and Amnesia, a machine for pigs.

03:41Given the amount of trouble this game has gone through, something tells us this game

03:45isn't going to turn out the way we want it all to turn out.

03:54Skate For EA to bring back Skate of all of their

04:03IPs is truly mesmerizing.

04:06Not because they were bad games or even mediocre ones, it's just that we went through an

04:10entire console generation without them.

04:13But in 2021, they did it.

04:15EA announced a brand new Skate game and even rehired some of the talent of the original

04:20three games.

04:22Thing is that we don't know much about the game other than the fact that it will be free

04:25to play.

04:27Developer Full Circle has been sharing some behind-the-scenes developments, but we're

04:30just hoping the release date is soon.

04:33We also hope the game will attract a ton of players, since Activision decided to cut the

04:37cord from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, just as the 2020 remake showed a promising future.

04:45Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Heater

04:53Konami has been in some hot water with their fanbase after the lazy releases of Metal Gear

04:57Solid Master Collection and the abysmal Silent Hill The Short Message.

05:02There are now only two hopes for the company's return to the gaming industry.

05:07Unfortunately, the Silent Hill 2 remake is looking a little rough in some areas, and

05:12the tight-lipped marketing is rather suspicious.

05:15As for Metal Gear Solid Delta, well, we hope this is Konami trying to understand what makes

05:20a great Metal Gear game.

05:22Recent history has told us to believe different, and if neither game lives up to their hype,

05:27it may very well convince Konami to leave the industry again.

05:30Either that, or just license only Castlevania stuff.

05:39Bioshock 4

05:47We have known Bioshock 4 has been in development since 2019.

05:50We even got some leaked details via Colin Moriarty on his PlayStation Podcast Sacred

05:55Symbols way back in December 2021.

05:58Many of his details being confirmed by insiders for other outlets.

06:03We have yet to see this game for ourselves, and to be frank, it's giving us a bit of

06:07anxiety for the franchise's future.

06:10Bioshock has been gone for a rather long, long time, and this one will not have creator

06:15Ken Levine's input as he is busy developing his newest game, Judas.

06:20We are confident in the team, though, as it is composed of former staff from Fireaxis

06:25and staff that worked on the original 2007 Bioshock.

06:28So there is promise, but there's also the possibility of this not being as great as

06:33the other titles.

06:35If it bombs, it may very well be the end of Bioshock.

06:40Black Myth Wukong

06:50Some of us here at Mojo Plays are excited to finally play Black Myth Wukong.

06:55Here's the problem, though.

06:57This game drops more trailers than a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

07:01We first saw Black Myth Wukong way back in August 2020, with a ton of gameplay being

07:08shown off, about 13 minutes total.

07:11Since then, the game has appeared at several conventions and sporting a brand new trailer

07:17every single time.

07:19We're relieved to know that there's a release date for August 20, 2024, but if this

07:23game is anything below great, we feel a lot of players are going to feel cheated.

07:36Star Wars Outlaws

07:44Ubisoft has had a rather rocky reputation lately.

07:47Manualized franchises don't see the high scores like they used to, and fatigue has

07:51quickly set in with fans.

07:53If Star Wars Outlaws is to show that our favorite galaxy has a future with Ubisoft, then the

07:58conglomerate is going to have to pull some neat ideas for this one.

08:02So far, it does seem like a nice breath of fresh air away from lightsabers, however,

08:06we have to wonder how monotonous the checklists and side missions will become.

08:11Perhaps this will be a game more for the Far Cry fans, and not for players from Assassin's

08:15Creed or the Tom Clancy scene.

08:19Lastly, every Xbox exclusive.

08:26Fable, Avowed, Clockwork Revolution, South of Midnight, Indiana Jones, any game under

08:36the Xbox umbrella needs to pray that they land a big mega hit because right now, who

08:43knows what may become of Xbox.

08:46In 2023, Xbox launched their first original IP in years with Tango Gameworks' sci-fi

08:51rush.

08:52According to Xbox, the game was a smash hit, though the company never shared sales numbers.

08:58Tango Gameworks even won a handful of awards for the game.

09:01Fast forward to May 2024, when Xbox decides to close down Tango as it wants to quote,

09:07identify the opportunities that are best positioned for success end quote.

09:11Prior to its closure, Tango pitched a sequel for Hi-Fi Rush.

09:15It was rejected, obviously.

09:17If an acclaimed studio like Tango could get shut down, who's to say that any of Xbox's

09:22acquired studios are safe, regardless if a game fails or succeeds?

09:27All of the upcoming exclusives may have to start pulling in big, big, big numbers.

09:32And that's a lot of pressure to be having, even if you have all that Xbox money.
