00:00She'd even do scary things, like start driving faster.
00:04Like, I can remember her speeding because I said I didn't want to go to church.
00:08She found, like, religion real heavy when I was about 10.
00:13So there was no talking back.
00:16There was no opinions.
00:17Children don't have opinions.
00:19I think another part of it was my dad ended up, like, leaving her and getting with a man.
00:26And I think that really, like, made her angry, too.
00:31Everyone told her before she married him, like, but she still proceeded to marry him and adopt a child.
00:37And she took it out on me because I was supposed to fix it.
00:40But I was a kid. How was I supposed to fix it?
00:42He was verbally embarrassed.
00:45When I went to go live with him when I was 15, he was very upset with the fact that
00:50he had a 300-pound 15-year-old and he didn't know what to do about it.
00:55He worked for a major pharmaceuticals company.
00:58So I remember him bringing diets home and having me take them.
01:02And he also deprived me of, like, clothing and shoes because he thought that that would teach me if I
01:09lose weight, then I can have those things.
