00:04and going, do the Arizona Cardinals really have an opportunity
00:08at maybe getting a franchise quarterback in Carson Beck?
00:14Carson Beck looked like he knew what he was doing when he was out there
00:17on the field in that Hall of Fame game.
00:20And I got to tell you, here's a guy that's been an enigma
00:23his entire football career.
00:25When he was at Georgia, the Georgia fans weren't sure what they had
00:30with this quarterback.
00:31They weren't sure the type of leader.
00:33I even questioned Carson Beck when he was at the University of Miami last year
00:38in his leadership role and some of the things that he would say
00:41about the offensive coordinator or some of the things that he would say
00:44which would make him off-standish and he would look at people in a different light
00:49and how people looked at him.
00:50I question his leadership.
00:52He was out there throwing dimes.
00:53Now, look, I get it.
00:54It's exhibition football.
00:56You're throwing against second and third team guys
00:58that most likely will not be on an NFL roster this coming fall.
01:03I get it.
01:04But here's a guy that may indeed be a first-round talent.
01:09Here's a guy who may indeed be the guy who's going to be the face of that franchise.
01:14Look, Arizona is one of those places that you just go to die
01:18when it comes to being a starting quarterback.
01:21Really, the only quarterback that they have had there in recent memory has been Carson Palmer
01:26and also Kurt Warner.
01:28A little bit with Tyler Murray, but never any kind of developing of any kind of quarterback
01:33because it is the Bidwells.
01:35That's an organization that can't get it right at the top and can't get it right on the sidelines.
01:40Maybe here with Mike LaFleur, Matt LaFleur's brother, they're going to get this right.
01:46I saw some really great things.
01:48Look, I've been one of the biggest critics of Carson Beck since I got a chance more to watch him

01:54when he was with the Canes.
01:56I thought he did a great job with that football program.
01:59I thought he elevated it.
02:00I thought he elevated Mekhi Toney.
02:03I thought he did all of that with Malachi Toney.
02:05I thought he pushed that offense.
02:07I thought he was a leader.
02:09And by the end of his time there at the University of Miami,
02:11I think it was actually an upgrade from Cam Ward on what he brought to the franchise.
02:17So, yes, I have my eye on him.
02:20Will he be somebody that will go in and show everyone, look, I was a first-round talent.
02:26Look, this guy was one of the highest recruited kids in high school football.
02:31He got to Georgia.
02:32He won a ton of big-time games.
02:35Southeastern Conference games, huge games.
02:38Then he gets into the playoff a year ago and wins a boatload of football games.
02:43There's one thing that you can't say that he hasn't done.
02:46Every single time that Carson Beck gets into a situation, he plays in big moments.
02:53Now, again, his leadership has been one of the question marks.
02:58Will he be the guy that everyone said, well, when he came out of high school,
03:03he's one of the most talented guys that we've seen come out of high school.
03:07He's got the talent.
03:08And if you want to put it next to any other guy that's come out in the last two years,
03:13when it comes to talented quarterbacks, I don't see that much of a difference in talent
03:18between Fernando Mendoza and Carson Beck.
03:21But what I do see the massive difference is leadership, how people look at him,
03:26how people perceive him.
03:28Can you lead others?
03:30Remember, you don't have to be exceptional at that position to win Super Bowls.
03:36What you have to be is exceptional in the details.
03:39That's what makes a great quarterback.
03:42Great quarterbacking.
03:44Look, we mentioned Aaron Rodgers earlier in the hour.
03:47Aaron Rodgers is a more talented football player than Tom Brady.
03:52He is more gifted.
03:53He throws a better football.
03:55He's more athletic.
03:56But that position requires more than just being an athlete.
04:00It requires leadership.
04:02It requires being on the details.
04:06It requires to understanding the details.
04:10Brady always says something that, really, I think every quarterback
04:12and every young player needs to put in their playbook.
04:16Every single time that Tom Brady steps on a football field and practice,
04:20Tom Brady practices being great.
04:23It doesn't matter if it's a Tuesday or if it's a Wednesday.
04:28That's what quarterbacks miss when you have such great, talented players.
04:32Look, you could be the most talented guy like a Lamar Jackson or a Josh Allen.
04:38Are you on the details?
04:40Are you a guy that looks at the details and the details matter the most?
04:44This has been one of the issues with Carson Beck.
04:47Carson Beck has always been accused of not being on the same page with the details.
04:53We've said this before.
04:54We said it.
04:55We had conversations with Mario Cristobal a year ago.
04:58What's the number one thing that you've seen the difference of Carson Beck from Georgia
05:03to Carson Beck with the Canes?
05:06He said, Sells, he's a leader.
05:08And the guys love playing for him.
05:10And I think that's carried over now because when I saw him play in that Hall of Fame game
05:15the other day, I saw a different Carson Beck.
05:18That looked like a first-round quarterback.
05:20That looked like somebody, his football team is hoping, could end up being the guy that
05:26could finally be the quarterback in the building where they could go on and start building some
05:31great continuity there with Marvin Harris in the second.
05:35They've got a lot of talent in Arizona.
05:37Now they just got to put it together.
