00:00We will talk easily about the worst division in all of the NFL, and that is the NFC South.
00:07I think these teams right here, again, I don't know if they're ever going to make any kind of move
00:12when it comes to being a Super Bowl contending football team.
00:14These four teams really have a long way to go.
00:17So let's start it off here.
00:19Really, for me, I'm looking at the New Orleans Saints coming in at four right now.
00:24I think, look, I think Kellen Moore has done a great job.
00:26I think Tyler Shaw is going to be an absolutely fabulous young quarterback prospect for him.
00:32But Tyler Shook is a guy that, again, not a lot of people saw him coming out of college.
00:37And Kellen Moore has really done a nice job at trying to develop him.
00:41You know, that organization has been in salary cap hell for about three years now.
00:47All the mess that was made prior when Sean Payton was there and they were trying to push their chips
00:51all in.
00:52And Mickey Loomis, one of the best general managers in all of football, has been really dealing with a lot
00:58of dead money on that team.
00:59Now they're starting to clean that up a little bit.
01:01They're starting to get better talent in there.
01:03And I think that the New Orleans are getting better.
01:06But right now, they're a long way away.
01:09Yet last year, what I did like about them, they went into Raymond James.
01:13And they won a boatload of games down the stretch with nothing to play for.
01:17That organization and that team wants to play for that coach.
01:22So, again, that's a great sign.
01:24Good things are coming for the New Orleans Saints.
01:26Now, the Carolina Panthers.
01:28I'll say this one more time to you.
01:30I love Dave Canales.
01:32I think the head football coach coming over from Tampa Bay, the former coordinator, I think he's a heck of
01:37a coordinator.
01:38And I think he's doing a great job with Bryce Young.
01:41They've added more components.
01:42They went out and got a Jalen Phillips, added him to the mix with a new four-year deal, paying
01:47him annually $30 million.
01:49They need to get a little bit better on defense.
01:51And they need to add a little bit more on the offensive side if they're going to help that offense
01:57move the stakes.
01:58There's a lot of good talent in Carolina.
02:01Last year's division winner, they were 8-9.
02:04I think they're going to be in the battle.
02:06And by the way, all four of these teams could make a run at the division title.
02:10This is how close it is.
02:12It's not a very good division with a lot of upside over the next couple years.
02:16Carolina's got a nice-looking roster.
02:18They're building it up.
02:19They're getting better and better.
02:21In the two-hole, I got my Buccaneers.
02:25I think they're going to take a step back even further from the Brady era.
02:30Ask yourself this.
02:32You know, all the things they did for Tom Brady when he was there, they went out and got Rob
02:37Gronkowski.
02:38They went out and got Antonio Brown.
02:40They brought all those players in to the roster to help Tom Brady, and they pushed all their chips in.
02:47Leonard Fournette, guys like that.
02:49Have they done the same thing for Baker Mayfield?
02:53Have they pushed all their chips?
02:56The Glazers, the owner of the team, and also Jason Light, the general manager of the team.
03:00Have they pushed all their chips in?
03:03Mike Evans is now a member of the San Francisco 49ers.
03:07Baker Mayfield was offered a two-year contract extension, which his team ended up turning down.
03:12It was right around the $50 million mark.
03:15Baker Mayfield is a guy that has gambled on himself before in the past when he was at Texas Tech
03:21and when he was at Oklahoma.
03:23Maybe a motivated Baker Mayfield is a better Baker Mayfield, and we'll see the best of Baker Mayfield this year.
03:30Remember something.
03:31We're talking about a 31-, 32-year-old quarterback.
03:34You're really going to be committed to giving a three-year contract extension to Baker Mayfield, who doesn't really know
03:40how to protect himself?
03:41It's going to be a very interesting year for Todd Bowles.
03:44Look, I think Todd Bowles blamed everyone a year ago except Todd Bowles.
03:49That defensive football team couldn't stop anybody.
03:52It just couldn't.
03:54And that defense was the issue.
03:56They couldn't defend.
03:57They couldn't defend the pass.
03:59It's going to be an interesting year.
04:01If you're a defensive-minded head coach and that side of the football is failing, that is on you.
04:09And so it will be, I think, a tell year for Todd Bowles on whether or not he's the head
04:16football coach moving forward.
04:18I've got the Atlanta Falcons, number one.
04:21I've got them winning the NFC South.
04:23I think Kevin Stefanski is an absolutely fantastic coach.
04:28When you look at Kevin Stefanski when he was at the Cleveland Browns, two-time NFL coach of the year,
04:35ended up taking a team to the playoffs with Baker Mayfield, Kevin Stefanski,
04:41I think if he can get any quarterback play out of Michael Paddix or Tua Tuga Viola,
04:45that's going to be a very good football team.
04:48They can defend.
04:49One of the better offensive lines, by the way, also in the NFL.
04:52And B. John Robinson, this guy was one of my sandbox guys back in the day when we were talking
04:57NFL draft.
04:58What an electric football player.
05:00The dude up in Detroit, Jameer Gibbs and his kid,
05:03those two guys are the best running backs in all of pro football right now.
05:07I mean, you're talking about versatility, 700 yards receiving, 1,500 yards rushing.
05:12I got the Atlanta Falcons winning that division.
