There could be major dangers associated with a typhoon that's barreling toward East Asia.
Transcript
00:00On an international level, we are concerned about flooding in southeast China and also in Okinawa, south side of Japan.
00:09We're getting ready for a typhoon. The typhoon's name is Dolphin.
00:13It's still out over the West Pacific right now, still off to the east,
00:16but we're getting ready for rain to begin to impact the area of far southern Japan,
00:20the Okinawa prefecture, all the way to the south of the main portion of areas around Japan.
00:27And this will likely pass just to the north of Taiwan.
00:30In advance of this, it's hot out there, Beijing, Seoul, and South Korea, and also Beijing, China, 100 to 102
00:35degrees.
00:36Shanghai, scattered showers. Taipei, mid-90s, scattered showers.
00:39You've got some rain down into the Philippines.
00:41And as we look at this current status, here it is.
00:45This is typhoon Dolphin pushing west at this point.
00:50So here's the main portion of Japan, and here is Okinawa.
00:54It'll be passing right through that area and then moving into China.
00:58So our AccuWeather I-Path for Dolphin.
01:01This has been a strong typhoon, Category 3.
01:04And again, a typhoon just the same as a hurricane in its structure and anatomy.
01:09We just have a different name for it in the West Pacific.
01:11We expect this to be a Category 2 equivalent as a typhoon moving through Okinawa on Friday around midday.
01:18A nasty day Friday beginning to end there.
01:21And then we'll likely see a loss of wind energy.
01:23And by the end of the weekend into early next week, we'll likely see landfall as probably a tropical storm
01:27into eastern parts of China.
01:29So Okinawa has the greatest, fiercest winds, 100 to 120 miles per hour.
01:34We're also looking at over a foot of rain there and also into China.
01:37So big dangers associated with this storm.
01:41Here we can close and look at future radar and clouds.
01:44And here it is near the north side of the Okinawa prefecture and then moving west as we get into
01:49the beginning of the weekend, closing in on China.
01:51And here we can close and look at future radar.
