00:04Well, it's been an exciting morning down here at the Western Sydney International Airport.
00:10We had the first international flight from Auckland touched down at about quarter to
00:16eight this morning.
00:17We also had the first flight leave here heading to Auckland as well.
00:22Now, as well as those first domestic flights yesterday, there's been a small number of
00:26domestic flights coming in here this morning from Melbourne.
00:29There's a flight out to the Gold Coast later this afternoon.
00:33And there's been pretty good reception from people coming into the airport, but some people
00:38have been left a little bit confused about where they were when they arrived here.
00:43Let's take a listen now.
00:44I found out about this flight and I just knew I had to go on it.
00:48Fly back coming to my...I do it quite often.
00:51We are a little bit lost.
00:53And we checked how we were...because we have our car parked at the other airport, the Sydney
01:00airport.
01:00And we had no idea that they had several airports here in Sydney.
01:04So now we are stuck.
01:05It's fantastic.
01:07I got confused.
01:09I saw Western Sydney.
01:10I thought it was Western Australia and I'm meant to be in Perth.
01:13But look, it's still pretty fun.
01:15So we'll make the best of it.
01:16So a bit of confusion there with some passengers.
01:20And to add into that, if people are flying here into Western Sydney Airport, the Metro
01:25is not yet set up to get out here.
01:28There are some free shuttle buses to St. Mary's, but to get into the CBD at the moment, it would
01:34take over two hours.
01:36Now, although there's only a small amount of airlines flying in and out of the airport
01:42at the moment, the airport is hoping that by 2060, it'll have the same amount of passengers
01:47as Heathrow Airport in London.
01:50Let's take a listen to what the CEO of the airport had to say earlier this morning.
01:55In just over a year, there'll be 250 destinations from Western Sydney Airport.
02:01Others will come and join in the fun.
02:04But the number one thing is that, you know, what's going to drive that?
02:09People from Western Sydney are going to be buying tickets and getting on planes.
02:13So that's going to fill the planes and airlines are going to respond.
02:16As well as a lot of excited passengers, there's also just been a lot of Western Sydney residents
02:21coming down to see the airport that has been promised to them for decades.
