00:11denzel ward reaches agreement are they have reached an agreement on a two-year 62 million
00:16dollar deal that includes 52 million dollars guaranteed and makes him the highest paid
00:22defensive back in nfl history for the second time in his career uh so that is the official news
00:28there uh here's listen one good for denzel he deserves this money and i think one way people
00:36perceive how good you are in the nfl is how much you're getting paid so i like that the perception
00:41will continue to be he's one of the best corners in the nfl but two it absolves me of the
00:47will they
00:47trade denzel at the deadline which is the conversation that after having to have that
00:53convo with miles that stunk those two weeks we had to have those miles conversations this year

01:40particularly strong uh he had a 90 passer rating when targeted last year that is the same passer rating
01:45that caleb williams had last season and baker mayfield had uh he had as far as his ratings was 70

01:50114th with cornerbacks and pff like like none of the advanced numbers suggested that and by the way
01:55history of concussions to go with it and none of it suggests that you should pay denzel but they're
01:59paying them because clearly they love what the leadership that he brings and they love the idea
02:04that he has blossomed into this player all here with the browns and i think they don't want to upset

02:08fan base that way and clearly he's a good player he's still a good player well and let's not forget

02:39dealing with something he was bothered with something and then by the end of the year he wasn't dealing
02:43with that and that's why his numbers in the second half of the season look better than they did in

02:47first half maybe that's part of it as well i don't know and so chip saying um i got chip

02:51loves denzel but that's a lot of money for a guy who uh plays after the year and he's one

03:52he would be gone i mean before the haslam's got here the browns had a real problem at drafting and
03:58developing their own guys they'd get an orpheus roy who'd come here and play five or six good seasons
04:03they'd get veterans from other team to come play good football but it'd be two or three years and
04:06they'd be gone like jameer miller so it it was a lot of turnover that started to feel akin to

04:14same old browns locking in denzel i'm really cool with this i'm really excited to see i think this is
04:20good for the locker i think most people should be cool with something like this you're rewarding a
04:23guy that's been with the team for as long as he has he's a local kid he's done uh everything

04:28then some that you could want in the community he's done everything and then some that you'd want
04:30in the football field multiple pro bowler all pro like these are the type of guys that
04:35if if if he stinks for the next two years nick and all it does is cost you money as

04:40through 2026 which isn't going to really matter all that much and then 2027 where you're hoping
04:44to get things going it's just not it's just not the biggest deal yeah and i just i think that

04:50know one of the things that that got this group a lot of favor in the locker room was how

04:56were taking care of players when they had a glow up obviously denzel and miles getting paid the first
05:02time back in the 20s 2021 range wyatt teller getting a contract extension obviously didn't
05:09come to fruition with baker but they had such a good history of taking guys who performed and taking
05:14care of them financially this is a good sign to every young guy in that locker room hey carson

06:10like if he if he didn't play particularly well last year according to the numbers i have maybe their
06:13numbers are different but even if he played well last year let's just give him a he played well last
06:17year the age he has and the concussion history he has why would any team make him the highest the
06:23highest paid defensive back for the second time in his career because they believe he's the best
06:27cornerback or top five cornerback in the nfl okay i guess i just disagree with that assessment it's
06:34not this is nothing but i like the news i'm not upset by having denzel ward around i think it's
06:38especially since i i don't think that they would have gotten much in the trade market for him i think
06:41that's something we've discussed at length here if you get a second maybe a third maybe like there's
06:47there just there's feels like there's something that is attached to this that i'm missing

09:35that the end part of nick chubb was him making wildly less than any other top tier running back

09:46a travesty the low amount of money all things relative to the amount of production that he gave
09:50and it's like all right go to houston and then now houston's got rid of him after one year and
09:53discarded him like i like that it doesn't have that type of ending and denzel still playing at a much
09:57higher level than obviously nick chubb was at the end but like i i like this i like this story

10:26and carson swessinger and mason graham and jared verse and denzel boston and harold fanon jr and
10:33spencer fauno and all the the young players here and all the veterans that you have i'm so excited
10:40about the other positions at quarterback outside of quarterback while understanding you're only going
10:47to get something so much out of the quarterback spot this year yeah and i just like i i'm going

10:53this thinking like well i'm excited to see young players play well and hopefully build towards the
10:57future and i think you can surprise people at seven wins or more i wonder if that's where everyone
11:03is or maybe is that something that we only say in training camp it might just be something we only
