00:00Oh, what do we got? We got something?
00:02We got some breaking Cavaliers news.
00:05Uh-oh.
00:06Oh, hey, whoa.
00:07All right, Sham Sharanya says the Cavaliers All-Star Donovan Mitchell
00:14has agreed to a four-year, $273 million maximum contract extension
00:19that includes a player option for 2030-31 season and a full trade kicker.
00:27It's according to CAA's co-head of basketball, Austin Brown, he tells ESPN.
00:31That's the agent.
00:33That's good.
00:34So a couple things here immediately.
00:36Saves money for LeBron.
00:37Well, a couple things here.
00:39So he could have waited and gotten, what was it, $70 million, $350 million total
00:46over the span of five years.
00:47So he took the shorter contract, but the guarantees put him on the board
00:54as opposed to playing it out a year and then, you know, if he gets injured,
00:57if he does something nasty to his knee, which is what these guys are always
01:01potentially thinking about, what would that do for their next potential contract
01:05or whatever?
01:06But there was some speculation on whether he was going to sweat it out for a year
01:11and then that's uncomfortable for both parties or whether he was going to lock
01:15in at the $68 million a year.
01:16Does that save money for LeBron?
01:18Not, I mean, look, not really, you know, because this doesn't kick in, you know,
01:27I know there's the trade kicker, what, the player option for 2030, 31.
01:31No, I mean, not really.
01:33Really, we're still focused on the James Harden situation because that's where
01:40there would be extra savings, you know.
