“Obviously, it's disappointing that the first minister and deputy first minister of Northern Ireland weren't here,” Prime Minister Andy Burnham says in Glasgow, Scotland. It comes as First Minister Michelle O’Neill claims that Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly “blocked” representation from the region at a meeting of the National Economic Council chaired by the prime minister. 00:00How worried are you that the First and Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland are in such dispute with one
00:07another that they've been unable to come today?
00:10Well, obviously it's disappointing that the First Minister and Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland weren't here.
00:17There was some representation, but we will continue the discussions too with Stormont about how do we take forward the
00:25same idea,
00:27the same arrangements to get power down into all parts of the UK.
00:31And the point is this, the agenda is moving quickly in England.
00:35There were further measures in the budget around regional devolution across all of England.
00:41And I don't want to see Scotland left behind, I don't want to see Wales left behind, but also crucially,
00:47I don't want to see Northern Ireland left behind.
00:49So it's really important that we all move at the same pace together.
00:53And I won't allow anything to delay that growth, can't wait.
00:59People need to see improvements in employment and in living standards in all parts of the UK.
