00:04might be a little crazier than we anticipate.
00:08Maybe it lives up to the hype finally over the next week or so.
00:13Yeah, there's certainly a lot going on.
00:15We have a real NFL football game next week,
00:18which I know everyone's going to be excited about.
00:20We're looking at position battles across both the NFL and college,
00:23who's winning what job, who's going to be starting,
00:25who's not going to be starting.
00:27We have the trade deadline, which is actually starting to gain some momentum.
00:31And there's a lot of moving parts, a lot of ins, a lot of outs,
00:34a lot of what have yous, as people like to say.
00:37We have Shane Langeleers, who was a trade candidate for a lot of teams.
00:41He's now out for the season.
00:42That means teams are probably going to have to be ramping up their offers
00:44and overspending to get other players.
00:47We've got pitchers.
00:48The Cubs are DFAing James Tyone just a little while ago.
00:51They desperately need pitching help.
00:52They're going to go out and spend a fortune to get someone like Reid Detmers.
00:55We actually may have an exciting trade deadline, which is, what, exactly a week away?
00:59It's the 3rd at 5 p.m., if I remember correctly.
01:02So hopefully we're leading to something good.
01:04We have a full slate to get to today, and we'll touch on plenty of football along the way.
01:09Tom, I am just thankful that I think beyond a shadow of a doubt,
01:15the Yankees, unquestionably, will be buyers in this trade deadline, which, as long as you have that,
01:23then you know exactly there's going to be a lot of talk.
01:27There's going to be a lot of hype.
01:29I mean, Boone looked like a deer caught in the headlights after losing 11-4 last night to the Phillies,
01:35although they won two out of three in that series.
01:39But even he said that the front office is, like, grinding the phones, trying to figure out what they can
01:45do.
01:46Bellinger, obviously, going on the I.L., not great.
01:49I don't know that they're comfortable with where Aaron Judge is going to be in the next month.
01:55Is Stanton ever coming back?
01:58You know, they need a catcher.
02:00And you mentioned it.
02:01Langoliers being out there, there's not a whole lot else out on the market and available here.
02:07So the Yankees being buyers, I think, is great for this trade deadline.
02:14The question is, will they overpay?
02:16And could this be a scuba or, I mean, it's got to be a bat, right?
02:21It's not going to be a pitcher for the Yankees.
02:24It really should be a bat for the Yankees.
02:27And honestly, multiple bats.
02:29You know, people are talking about Ryan Jeffers, a catcher.
02:32You know, Lane Thomas, they need an outfielder losing Bellinger.
02:36They had to call up Spencer Jones, obviously, the other day, get him some reps.
02:40There just seems to be no amount of consistency with them.
02:43But it does stir the pot, essentially, knowing that the Yankees are going to be active.
02:46And knowing that they actually have a really, really strong farm system to draw from and those prospects they could
02:52use as trade chips.
02:53Now, I would say for any team out there, if they're going to be trading for Scooble, I would say
02:58you'd like to know that you can re-sign him long term.
03:00But that's not going to be the case because we know he's going to hit free agency.
03:03Like, this is what's just going to happen with a pitcher, his quality.
03:06Scott Borer's client, he's going to hit free agency to hit the market just to see what he's worth.
03:10So between the Yankees, I think the Phillies, they still need another bat and they still want some pitching help.
03:15The Red Sox, after the past three weeks, they're all of a sudden back in it.
03:18They need another pitcher, another hitter as well.
03:20So the big market teams look to be spenders.
03:23And that's ultimately what we want to see from a fan perspective.
03:26That's what creates a lot of excitement, a lot of movement, ultimately.
