00:00And, Tom, the trade deadline came and went. It certainly had a lot of deals, as you can see there.
00:07It felt like there were 40 or 50 trades, and it felt like 100 guys changing places. Not quite that,
00:13but certainly some teams took big steps forward, I think, and some teams, you know, tried to. Some teams failed.
00:21You know, a typical trade deadline, I thought, Tom, honestly, for me.
00:24Nothing really outstanding. You know, I've been doing this a long time, following this a long time. It feels like
00:31the usual suspects got better.
00:33Right, and I would say much of the same. We've been talking about the trade deadline for a while. What
00:38was going to happen? Who was going to do what? Are we going to buy? Who's the seller? Is the
00:41team going to be standing pat?
00:42And, you know, we finally have the conclusion. And, you know, to your point, a lot of teams made some
00:48moves. Some of them are good. Some of them are bad.
00:51Some of them left me scratching my head and saying, why are you doing this and not that? Again, the
00:56usual suspects, you know, we had heard the rumors and the rumblings about teams looking for certain things.
01:01I think there are some really good moves by a lot of teams addressing issues that they needed to. There
01:06are teams that made moves and they are improving things that they were already great at, which I don't necessarily
01:12agree with.
01:12We'll get into all that. But obviously, things started off with, you know, Scooble as being the headline of everything.
01:18But some other teams made some really good moves as well.
01:21Yeah. And Scooble, his first start didn't maybe have his best game, but I think that's to be expected. The
01:28adrenaline definitely flowing, wanting to pitch well in Dodger Blue.
01:31Scooble with two months of his regular season left in Dodger Blue. And then, of course, the postseason when the
01:36Dodgers do get there eventually, although they did not play well lately, losing a bunch of games in a row.
01:42Scooble six innings pitched her and run six strikeouts and four hits, two walks. He threw just 85 pitches.
01:49But make no mistake about it, Tom. This is a player and a team that's being built for the postseason
01:54right now.
01:55And I know the Dodgers slipped from being all world to just great now at this point.
02:00It seems like there's now a possibility, unless they play great baseball, that either the Brewers or the Braves or
02:05maybe some other team ends up catching them for the number one overall seed.
02:09But, you know, I just don't think the Dodgers are all that worried about it right now.
02:12I would say they're not worried about it, but I would also say when you just look at this, regardless
02:17of the name brand that Scooble is and the Dodgers are as a team,
02:22they kind of need some pitching depth because Otani, not really sure what the plan is for him.
02:27If he's going to be throwing again, he's got the knee thing, he's got the bicep thing.
02:31We know Snell's not there. We know Glassdown's not there.
02:32Like, Frank, when you actually look at it and remove the fact that they're the Dodgers and the two-time
02:37defending World Series champs,
02:38they're actually up against it when it comes to pitching depth.
02:42And a lot of people are saying, and, you know, you saw all these graphics right after the trade happened.
02:46Oh, Yamamoto and Glass now and Snell and Otani and now Scooble into the mix.
02:53And we have Robleski. It's like, that's great if they're all healthy, but they're actually not all healthy.
02:56We keep saying, oh, they'll be healthy come October 1st.
02:59We actually don't know about it. They actually needed to make a move like this.
03:03And they did, and they got help, and it's still undetermined as to whether or not Otani's going to pitch
03:07the remainder of the season.
03:09But you would assume at some point, postseason, bullpen, something along those lines.
