00:00Now, one team that we thought would certainly do some damage in the AL East with a possible
00:03playoff berth and maybe do a lot in the playoffs, good pitching staff, good lineup here, that's
00:07the New York Yankees.
00:08And for majority of the early parts of the season, Craig, they were in first place until
00:12the Tampa Bay Rays overtook them.
00:14If we look at the Yankees here coming into Memorial Day weekend, 30 and 22 on the season.
00:18But look at that, the role reversal, Craig, nine and one for the Rays for the 500 teams
00:24or excuse me, with the one run teams, five and 11 to nine and one, but one and nine versus
00:27the upper echelon teams in Major League Baseball, beating up on the cupcakes here, Craig.
00:31But absolutely, look at this, 30 and 22, expected win loss, it's actually 34 and 18, maybe a
00:36little bit of bad luck in there for the Yanks.
00:38Yeah, I think so.
00:39And again, when you're one and nine in one run games, that'll do it to you.
00:41So you look toward next year and say, they'll probably turn that around and they probably
00:45won't be one and nine next year through their first 10 one run games.
00:48But look, the Yankees are in a different situation than Tampa Bay because naturally when they
00:53get to a point where they have to decide what they want to do with the club in July or
00:56August, they're going to add.
00:57We know that they're going to put their foot on the pedal, if I can say that, right?
01:02Unfortunately for them, the month of May has not been kind to Aaron Judge.
01:06I'm sure that that will flip at some point.
01:08So meanwhile, Ben Rice has had to carry the load a little bit and their starting pitching
01:12has been as good or better than any team in baseball.
01:15And once again, Tampa Bay and New York, I do expect both teams to be playing postseason
01:20baseball.
01:21But for the Yankees to do what they did a couple of years ago, Donnie, like they did against
01:25the Dodgers where they took them to the tilt and they went all the way and they played
01:28in the World Series.
01:29Why did they do it?
01:30John Carlos Stanton was mashing and Aaron Judge up until that point was mashing.
01:34They're going to have to get the offense going in the postseason or it's going to be the
01:38same thing that we've seen year after year with the Yankees.
01:41A really good regular season.
01:43But are the bats hot in October?
01:44If they're not, they're going home early.
01:46That's it.
01:47No doubt about it.
01:48Look at that middle of that lineup here.
01:49Just talked about Tampa Bay.
01:50Look, it's a couple of guys with some good war numbers.
01:52Aaron Judge, 2.1, Ben Rice, also 2.1, and Cody Bellinger, the same 2.1 holding down the
01:57four in the middle of that lineup.
01:58But Craig, you know, we did see this week coming back into that lineup there.
02:01Garrett Cole getting a start under his belt.
02:03Looked pretty good.
02:04Were the K numbers there?
02:04No, but you have to be certainly patting yourself on the back if you're a Yankees
02:08organization.
02:08I think they did the right thing.
02:10Slow playing him, coming back, not forcing it back.
02:12He's going to be dominant over the summer.
02:13And if he is, Craig, boy, that's one of those components that had a question mark entering
02:17into the season.
02:18That could be certainly a dominant force.
02:20Yeah, Schlittler, Cole, Freed, Rodon.
02:23I mean, that's as good as it's going to get in the postseason.
02:25But again, Donnie, I'm still concerned that they get to the playoffs and get cold, you

02:29I mean, if they're not, they're going far.
