00:00Well, I would like to see the game not eliminate one category of what made this game great.
00:07That's old school and implement that with the Sabre metrics.
00:11And I think then you can create magic.
00:13But to eliminate old school, just to say we're just going to go with database alone is really not, you
00:20know, it's not sustainable.
00:23Pitch is throwing too hard and not being healthy.
00:26So that don't benefit anybody as well.
00:28So it's better if a guy throwing 97, why not just throw 94, 93 and learn how to pitch and
00:35then you can last longer.
00:37So it's more about keeping the product, you know, on the field and being on a on a consistent basis.
00:43So you'll get you'll get great games every day opposed to somebody getting injured and guys striking out.
00:49So those things have to be cleaned up.
00:51So you think the analytics in the game is too much right now, right?
00:54That again, you're looking at too much analytics that, you know, we see that also in pro football, too.
01:00Like you said, I mean, the velocity of the game off the mound is through the roof right now.
01:05Ninety seven, ninety eight miles an hour.
01:07You see these guys.
01:08But back in your time, these guys were being developed off the hill.
01:12These guys were going seven and two thirds.
01:14Now they're five and two thirds.
01:15You think they've got to go backwards a little bit.
01:17Is that what you're saying about the game?
01:19I think you've got I think you've got to go backwards to go forward, because if anybody told me that
01:24you put Sabermetrics up against me or Barry Bonds and my generation, and they think that they will solve the
01:31problem, they'll be wrong.
01:33Because I can go no Sabermetrics and still had a success I had without it.
01:38So my eyes tell me what I see.
01:40I can see the movement of the baseball.
01:42I know his tendencies because I pay attention.
01:45So Sabermetrics couldn't do anything with me if I was playing or Barry Bonds or whoever else in my generation.
