00:00The Venezuelan government is leading the reconstruction efforts in areas hardest hit
00:04by the earthquakes. It is moving forward with rebuilding communities in La Guaira
00:08and assisting survivors in temporary camps. Hernán Tobar has more information.
00:15A commission of professionals and technicians from the Ministry of Popular Power for Planning,
00:21along with representatives from other state entities, visited Punta Care in the Naiguita Parish.
00:27The commission's objective was to conduct technical field studies for cartography development.
00:32The results of these studies will serve as the basis for relocating families who lost their homes
00:37due to powerful earthquakes that affected the state.
00:43This cartographic campaign will allow us to create detailed maps.
00:47In this case, we are talking about a map with a scale of 1,000-2,500 that will help
00:52guide the current work,
00:53such as the removal and disposal of debris, the identification of sites for its treatment,
00:58and the cartographic basis for selecting land on which to build safe housing for the population.
01:03At the same time, it provides an integral vision from the perspective of managing the territory.
01:14This action helps identify potential earthquake-related damage to the land
01:19and mitigate its effects as part of a policy to protect residents and those affected.
01:31Some of the cartography and studies are not only associated with the earthquake and its seismic effects.
01:37We are also looking upstream in each hydrographic basin to analyze which materials were affected
01:42and which broke as a result of the earthquake.
01:45We are also determining whether rock masses were impacted,
01:48leaving hanging material in these basins that could later be carried by landslides.
01:53To mitigate the risks associated with these variables,
01:56the government has been deployed across all areas and aspects of potential impact in this region.
02:06As part of the comprehensive response,
02:09national and regional authorities established a temporary humanitarian camp
02:13at Simón BolÃvar University in La Guayra.
02:16Under the watchful gaze of the liberator,
02:19the camp receives and assists those affected by the emergency in Venezuela.
02:27First of all, they welcomed us with good beds.
02:30The place is very suitable for survivors like us
02:33who left with psychological problems and trauma.
02:38I still have that trauma because being pulled out of the rubble is not easy.
02:44When I look at the building or what is left of it,
02:47I feel like it is going to fall on top of me.
02:51I still have that trauma, but here they treated us with dignity
02:55as people with psychological trauma should be treated.
03:03The state is addressing several fronts to advance the reconstruction
03:07of La Guayra and the other affected areas.
03:10Significant progress has been made in providing coordinated assistance to the population.
