00:00Oh, the iconic suit and tie, seen on the likes of Julia Roberts at the 1990 Golden Globes
00:05and Iowa Debris at the 2025 Golden Globes. Today, I'm taking on the trend which has been
00:10dominating red carpets this awards season as the go-to subversive style in a sea of glistening
00:15gowns. Most recently, Cynthia Erivo, Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman have shown themselves to be
00:20fans as well as the entire front row at the YSL Paris show. I was a little worried that the
00:25tie
00:25would make me look like an adult in school uniform, but it actually made me channel my
00:29inner severance innie and get down to business. While women's suiting is usually styled to be
00:33slim fitted with open collars and stilettos, this look is all about embracing the masculine
00:38with broader silhouettes and most importantly, a traditional necktie. To test it out for myself,
00:42I styled an oversized mango selection suit, a crisp white cos shirt and my dad's old office tie for
00:48the 90s. My verdict? I've always loved a suit, but adding the tie really takes it to the next level.
00:53I look like I'm ready for boardroom domination, even if my day is actually just frantically writing
00:57coffee after spending too long at lunch. 4.5 stars out.
