00:00I think something I would want to have in my dream home,
00:04I would say home gym, but I know I would never use it.
00:06Hi, I'm Rosemary.
00:08And I'm Cooper. Welcome to Our Sweet Digs.
00:10A fun fact about our place is that we have over 30 houseplants.
00:18We live in a two-bedroom, three-bathroom condo
00:21in the Arts District of North Hollywood,
00:23which I bought for $600,000 in 2020.
00:28We have been dating for a little over four years,
00:31but at the time that I bought this place, we were broken up.
00:35We thought permanently.
00:38And I was just on my single-girl sh**,
00:41and I was like, I'm moving to the valley,
00:44and the next person I date can just deal with the fact
00:46that I live in North Hollywood.
00:48And so I bought this place,
00:50and then the next person I dated was Cooper again.
00:54And now I pay rent to Rosemary.
00:59This is our little galley kitchen.
01:02When I was laying out this space and furnishing it,
01:05I was really thinking about what would make it inviting for guests.
01:09When I replaced the countertops in the kitchen,
01:11I had them cut down the wall that separates the kitchen
01:15from the dining room so that while you're cooking,
01:18you can have friends hanging out at the dining table,
01:20eating cheese and crackers or whatever,
01:23and you can all be involved in the conversation.
01:25This is the dining room.
01:27The chairs were a really great Facebook Marketplace score.
01:31I think they go for like 300-something new,
01:34but a restaurant got some in the wrong color,
01:36so they were selling them brand new in the box for like 25 bucks each.
01:40The table is a combination of an IKEA tabletop
01:45with some custom powder-coated legs from an Etsy shop in Canada called 3 over 8.
01:52These landscapes are some pastels that my grandma on my mom's side did.
01:58This room gets some of the best light in the whole house,
02:01so we have a lot of plants in here because they're very happy here.
02:05This is our balcony.
02:06We put down some turf just to make it feel a little more homey.
02:09And the chairs are by the Novogratz.
02:16This is the living room.
02:17I painted this mural.
02:19The coffee table was a Facebook Marketplace find,
02:24as was one of the chairs I got an offer up,
02:27and the rug we got from an Etsy shop in Morocco.
02:30The DIY I'm most proud of in my condo would be that I demoed and retiled my fireplace.
02:39We have this great credenza that we have in the living room
02:43that was made by a father-son duo called Creative Furniture.
02:48They're local in East LA,
02:50and when I found them, they were just starting their business,
02:54and they made me this custom credenza for like 350 bucks.
02:58One of the ways we keep the entryway
02:59feeling nice and tidy is we actually hide shoes and sandals in here.
03:05This mirror was in my grandma's house growing up,
03:08and my family was going to throw it away, and I snatched it.
03:11The high ceilings are really amazing in here,
03:14so it just feels spacious.
03:15It feels open.
03:17At night, it's really cozy for movie nights or board game nights.
03:23So upstairs, we turned into a little bedroom.
03:26It doesn't have like a actual door to it,
03:29so like we might put up something else for some more privacy,
03:32but it's definitely a good spot if we have friends over from out of town.
03:35I painted this mural because I just felt like the big,
03:39blank, white wall was calling for a mural.
03:43Now I kind of want to paint it white and paint a new one,
03:45so maybe that's what I'll do with this space,
03:48is just paint a new mural every six months.
03:50There is actually a whole other balcony upstairs that overlooks the pool.
03:55We haven't furnished it yet because I'm not really sure what to do with this space.
03:59It gets so hot up here during the summer.
04:01We have many days over 100 degrees,
04:03so that's going to be one of my next home projects.
04:07And here is our guest bathroom.
04:09You can tell we don't get a lot of use from it
04:11because we actually store our pool floaties in here.
04:16This is our office.
04:18We just recently kind of finished it,
04:20and this is where I spend a lot of my time.
04:22I think we went back and forth on the color a lot.
04:25Both the bookcases were Facebook Marketplace finds.
04:29They're just your regular Ikea Billy bookcases.
04:32And then that's a shelf that we installed in the middle.
04:35It happened to be the perfect length,
04:36so it gives it that kind of built-in look.
04:39This is my closet.
04:41The office used to be an extra bedroom,
04:43so it has like a nice big walk-in closet space.
04:46So we've got a bit of a his-and-hers
04:48with the closets going on here.
04:52This is where we sleep.
04:54My biggest splurge for this space was our bed frame.
04:58It's like a big foam cloud that your bed sits on,
05:01and it was about $1,000.
05:02The nightstands are like the cheapest IKEA nightstands you can get,
05:07and I painted them in the little cloud pattern.
05:11This rug we got in Mexico City from some guy on the street.
05:15Just sold it to us when we were eating breakfast.
05:17This piece is also an IKEA TV stand
05:21that we ordered special poles and legs
05:25to give it a more custom look.
05:28These photos I shot on film in the Mojave Desert.
05:35This is a print by my friend Adele,
05:38and this is actually a drawing that my grandma did of my mom
05:43when my mom was 12.
05:45The primary bathroom remodel is definitely the biggest project
05:50that we've done on the house,
05:51and it's the most money I've ever spent on anything in my life,
05:55but it was really, really fun to design.
05:58This home has definitely been a creative outlet for me.
06:02There was a certain point where I felt like it was done,
06:05and then I realized that there's no end goal, really.
06:09I just really like to work on my home
06:12and change it and do little projects.
06:17I am like a home improvement shark.
06:19If I stop, I die.
06:22Thanks for checking out our sweet digs.
06:24Bye.
06:28Bye.
