00:00edition of my show we're going live on a Tuesday it's my first YouTube live ever

00:04and I'm here with none other than Drew Perrymore I'm so glad to be your first

00:10it's so exciting now to list all of your accolades we would be here for hours so

00:15I'm just gonna say to Drew is obviously the founder of flower beauty one of my

00:19favorite but my favorite cosmetics brands and the brands actually launching

00:23in Ulta in March super exciting I'm like I'm so excited I'm it feels like

00:28having a second child you know we were born into Walmart and you know I I know

00:34people were like huh Walmart okay not like so synonymous with beauty ironically

00:39they economically do the highest volume of beauty and it was really the customer

00:45yeah is actually when you look at sales reports they won't reveal theirs because

00:50they're so high you'll always see Walmart with an asterisk but I wanted to make

00:55luxury beauty and prestige formulas and do it for a different price point and the

01:00way we were able to do that was take away our marketing funds because at the time

01:05especially seven years ago there wasn't tutorials there wasn't influencers the

01:09YouTube phenomenon it just wasn't there and so I just kind of went out the

01:14Willy Loman style like door-to-door and TV show and outlets and really created the

01:20press behind it and it was a little bit all on my shoulders but I didn't mind

01:24because I loved working so hard for this it really is a baby and a passion and I've

01:29really done I guess many things but this one just felt so important and felt

01:36like it deserved the majority of my efforts and energy and I was having

01:40children so I wanted to take a break from movies so I could really raise my

01:44children myself I didn't want a nanny being like hey look at first steps today

01:47and feel like I missed that so I wanted a job a new career that was based in

01:53something that was really meaningful to me and also gave me time to be a mom and

01:57makeup is meaningful and makeup is not a surface thing it's an armor and a

02:04toolbox that we have as women to make ourselves feel confident and at the end

02:08of the day it's almost not about the makeup it's something to enhance our

02:12confidence and present ourselves you know in a way where we're not questioning

02:16what people think we actually like who we are and we present ourselves in a way

02:21where we're not asking for approval and that is such a powerful thing to switch

02:26the mindset I always think smells are better than lipstick and if you're you

02:31know not toxic on the inside you're gonna look a lot better on the outside

02:35agreed the inner workings of a woman that makes her the most beautiful

02:39wow very well said I completely agree with you I feel like my morning time

02:43getting ready is like the time that I take for myself like I feel like I'm doing

02:47stuff throughout the day I need that time to either take my makeup off do my

02:51skincare routine or to put my makeup on in the morning like I need it I don't feel

02:54myself without it and it makes so much sense that you're doing this because

02:57you're such a beauty girl so we actually have some fun products and new stuff from

03:02flower that I'm really excited we're gonna get a little preview of should we

03:06unbox this yes please oh and here's a flower press for you that I brought it's our

03:11little zine I grew up in the 90s and zines were so cool and so fun the

03:16fragrance and you get that newspaper on your hand and I like it too and it's

03:20nice you can like frame them yeah I really love the middle page oh my gosh look at

03:25this because it's true this eye and the attitude and the graphics of the florals is

03:33so chic funny enough florals can be so cheesy or they can be so cool we have

03:39excellent excellence and elegance but we're gonna make our second issue

03:43actually all around our new warrior collection and sort of it's this new

03:49mascara and it's starting as a star hero product as they say and then we're

03:54building out from there and we've got some really cool things coming up we liked

03:58it to look like a little bit of a weapon more identifiable if you see it the

04:03purple a little bit of a different packaging vibe for flower it is it's a

04:07little more about the the message really is about how to be empowered and not in

04:15an angry way but looking out for women and having a sisterhood and about the

04:20capacity of when you wear it and it just has that attitude actually that flower

04:27has been sometimes a bit more on the romantic side but I really love this and

04:33we got to work with this lab mascara plus which is the most amazing lab for

04:38mascaras and we could never afford to work with you any particular about the

04:41brush can I take a look at it the brush is I really like a nice oh I love a

04:46good

04:46like synthetic bristle brush yes really get it when I launched lash blast with

04:51covergirl I sort of got really addicted to that style I forgot that you were in a

04:55massive covergirl like yeah I've been right yeah it was like my college degree to

04:59start my own beauty company and I really like when it has little bristles as well

05:04so they really have everything up and it's just it's called lash warrior and it

05:09really is a high-impact volume and I used to love laying combs fatale which was a

05:17comb brush and nothing gave you bigger impact in your lashes you could go carpet

05:23lashes 60s it was like it was so thick and delicious and when they layer it up yeah

05:29like they're kind of like a clumpy I don't like I love clumpy I don't have a

05:34controversial opinion let us know in the comments what you think about clumpy

05:38lashes and let us know if you have any questions because we can totally add

05:40answer them but I love the clumpy lash I feel like people really don't like them

05:44nowadays I do a great way to help that also is not in the manufacturing to close

05:49down the wiper too much because it distributes more product on your brush

05:53that's an interesting you're not like this and like layering layering layering yeah you

05:57get in the one that's the that's what I feel like cuz you I'm looking at this

06:02right now and I'm like you get a lot of product here that I want I don't want to

06:05have to put four layers on for you get look like it my lashes done a learning

06:10curved I absolutely loved when I was starting to make my own mascaras was how

06:16great a formula can be and if you put it with the wrong brush it just destroys it

06:21and if you have a great brush and you put it with a certain formula nothing works and

06:26you have to find that like love connection let's talk about these lipsticks

06:31these are beautiful I love the new packaging because we started out with a

06:36floral do you mind if I swatch on you of course I wore the shirt for a reason okay

06:42good and I'm not great at swatching I have to admit it's okay oh I love that but we

06:48have this high-impact payoff can I wear it yeah please it's a matte it's a miracle

06:56matte lip and I'm 43 and I tend to be on the drier side so I needed something that

07:03would work for Millennials but would also work for someone that's a little older

07:09or a little more dry these build and build and build they're also from a

07:15prestige lab and I was really good best with this like do this was my new hero

07:21because I could actually be on trend but no yes exactly and I ate with the one I

07:32was wearing yesterday that I love so much poison plum I ate a whole lunch and I

07:36didn't have to reapply anything it just stays in place oh we'll do it we'll keep

07:42on the same yeah I want you just lips on this but who I love that the colors are

07:47so is that one kind of metallic this is the metallic matte lip and I'm actually

07:51the mirror guys it's a little Matt metallic and I'm wearing crimson venom

07:57right now but I like the fact that it doesn't have mica or glitter but it

08:02actually has a static light effect I'm surprised it actually doesn't have any of

08:06the mica in it I know I was really good it goes with your earring what has a certain

08:10technology in it and then we carried that over into the metallic matte lip and

08:16then also into this collection which I absolutely love which is metallic is this

08:22one of them too that is one of them and that's this one so actually I'm so sorry

08:25I said metallic it's holographic I and that's looking really good with your hair

08:30by the way that one tends to actually change the color of your lipstick or the

08:35color of your natural lips because it you know when you see like an oil slick on the

08:39road but at certain angles it looks red it kind of has that rainbow that's what

08:44I love that I love it too we actually have an audience question someone's asking

08:49if flower beauty is safe or sensitive skin oh I have the most sensitive skin and

08:54everything breaks me out so for me it has to stamp the please don't give me acne

08:59test and none of our products ever have and if they do we just never get them past

09:05lab samples yeah say this is not for us they're really hydrating I like a lot of

09:11coverage but I love lightweight lightweight and buildable buildable and dewy

09:17effects I can use powder I know where I even your powder I love your loose

09:21powder that comes in that beautiful box it doesn't look very cakey on the skin at

09:25all that one was the one thing I wanted to do that reminded me of like a mother's

09:30vanity table when it seemed like they just had a little more time and now

09:34we're like so on the go and it's such a different world and generation but I love

09:39a vanity table item and that for me it makes you feel really special and it's

09:44nice instead of drugstore price but yeah getting that it's I don't I think the

09:47only powder at the drugstore that looks like that that well old-world feel we're

09:51also quadruple milled so it's the finest powder very fine and we've won a

09:56Laura Beauty Awards for it so really good so definitely and in that actually as my

10:03partner Nadia says is that was the technology we took through all the

10:09powders and now our light illusion see if this is the latest one for you see and

10:20this is pretty is that your tone it's a little on the light side but it's very

10:26very very creamy so we step we now have 24 shades we started with like 8 9 or 12

10:32and our coverage really goes across the board it's very smooth it's actually

10:38never used this foundation before it's brand new and the thing that I really love

10:41about it is I think Armani performs the best as far as luminous silk because

10:50their their line and the color range is it helps people with like who need a

10:57little more yellow or a new little more pink or a little more beige and sort of

11:01the way they're curated is actually I think so much more functional because

11:06everybody isn't different versions of the same beiges and so this line was really

11:14it really has your back and once you find your color that number goes across the

11:20whole line so you know that's how it is and like your back wheeler you just go

11:23there you get your product it's perfect it's perfect you find you're a match and

11:27everything will be that for you and I thought that just takes this sort of

11:32confusion out of it okay so another audience question yeah actually that I

11:37want to know too what is your favorite beauty product ever you know it's gonna

11:43make it a two-parter actually from the line and also that you've that you tried

11:48like when you were still in your nascent likes beginnings of flower that you

11:52kind of wanted to bring into your own brand I always loved this old 80s

11:58she were more a double-ended lipstick and I've always claimed how much I want to

12:03do it and someday I'm just gonna make it happen but the thing that was so great

12:07about it is the double-ended was basically before the term butter had come

12:13along it was a butter version of one color and on the other side was the

12:18stickiest chalkiest most amazing texture and formula of the very same color in matte

12:25oh so you'd have to do two versions if you love this color I know and it's so

12:31funny because we have a dual ended that's really beautiful like this is the

12:35comfort matte end which is just a more I'm gonna swatch on this one this arm

12:39it's just a beautiful rosy now really comfortable but I had I did my makeup

12:43once I think I was doing Seth Meyer Markey was there the amazing hairdresser and my

12:51really one of my best friends in the world is a makeup artist Deb Ferulo is

12:55there and she took funny enough this Mac color that had a little brush at the end

13:01and not a one but the way it paired with the lipstick underneath it just gave me

13:06that like JLo glow where I'm like how does she glow that everyone aspires so like

13:11just luscious I loved okay also another past favorite product max x-rated max factor x-rated

13:19lip gloss when they can prove that my world ended and Mac has lip gloss but

13:25they're a little bit different in the way yeah and they're they're nice on the

13:28eyes actually great are very sticky so they stay put yeah a little eight hours

13:34you've never killed anyone he's very true that's a classic it is you know that's

13:38that you can tell that you make up artist friends yeah if you're like eight

13:42hour cream back lip gloss they would also contour and highlight which was

13:46something I was so intimidated by but once they really empowered me with the

13:50magic 3 or the brow bone slope of the nose little base at the forehead and the

13:56bow of the lips maybe throw it on your eyelids too and then the contouring magic

14:023 of like where the Sun would naturally hit your highest points so it looks more

14:07natural rather than I and then I got confident and started playing with it on

14:11myself but when a professional makeup artist does your makeup you literally go

14:16how do I look a little different and a little better basically and it's

14:21because they're skilled with those tips of like how to actually enhance or

14:26reduce the shape of your face or those the trick when the little like sparkle in

14:32your eye corner that like brightens your eyes instantly I also love a Dolce and

14:37Gabbana has a product where it's like a pink nude I think it's called number five

14:41or six don't quote me on that but I prefer it to the white waterline I like I

14:47agree I think that can go dark yeah I can look very theatrical really I don't

14:52chain Gabbana one in this is a liner it's a line okay it's a pencil liner like a

14:57true you need a sharpener yeah and it's it's the prettiest thing to put on the

15:02inner eye because it just isn't so stark so you mentioned earlier that your mother

15:07yeah are your daughters involved in the different products that you're creating

15:12like do you test them with each other do you like kind of hang out and like do

15:15beauty stuff dear you me this morning I was wearing this in my new collection

15:20which is my favorite I we designed a whole our whole team came up with sort of

15:25like this new lighter to carry approach to palettes um so Frankie this morning was

15:33playing with the Austin palette it's called downtown dusk and this is it and she

15:43wanted to basically oh no get in there it's a cream whoa that is pigmented

15:48I wanted to get a palette that had some poppy colors it wasn't super I love when

15:54women put like bright red or canary yellow on their eyes but I also wanted to

16:00make a palette that was really wearable has a poppy color in it but so Frankie

16:06went to her pool lesson looking like David Bowie this morning which was so cool

16:11appropriate because he actually has an exhibition opening at the Brooklyn Museum I

16:15can't wait to see it I'm so excited to be there it's like a whole retrospective

16:19and there's a lot of new stuff um so I wanted gorgeous neon I wanted to do you

16:25know a perfectly you know highlighter and obviously something that creates smoke I

16:31really loved the old NARS when it first came out it was so sort of

16:36revolutionary and look the way people did their makeup back in like the disco

16:41days but each one has a different formula we have a traditional matte which

16:47one always yeah you ready if you need a good matte black especially a nice like

16:52terracotta color yeah good time I thought that was pretty and I'm so in love with

16:58this peachy tone and I've always wanted to make a palette with and I hadn't yet and

17:03there's just something about that buttery yellowy peachy color that I never see

17:10that often but it's so wearable so I also know this is this this shape I had a great

17:16which was I want different you know textures in my palette I don't want all sparkly I

17:22don't want on that and beyond even the payoff in color I wanted the formulas to perform differently so

17:30this is what Frankie and I put on this morning and Yumi let her get let her have a brush

17:36and she just went to town and I love that my daughter's a lot of

17:40sisters are addicted to makeup and Olive asked if I would paint cat eyes on her

17:46this morning but I don't do it as well as my as her cousin who literally is 14 and

17:53the biggest beauty tutorial junkie you'll ever need so she must love having all of

17:59this access well and I got to introduce her to my friend Zanna Rassi who does milk

18:03milk which sweetie we call each other sisters and beauty because we support

18:08each other so much and we're good friends and introducing her to Sadie was

18:13like meeting the Pope oh my gosh that's like sweet I think milk makeup is truly one

18:20of my favorite brands I agree really love their they're just they they're not

18:23afraid to do a lot of bold makeup oh my god there goes my earring yeah no you're

18:28cherry I know my cherry from the Museum of Ice Cream I also love that she does

18:33those markers with the little stars on them I love those and like I think they

18:37started that other brands have done it and I now afterward well they're so good

18:43she helped in the pioneering also I think you lose your back I'm gonna have to

18:48wear one earring hey it'll be a new trend we'll find um I Zanna was a part of like

18:54the revolution also of being a part of many companies who brought in sticks for

18:59people and now it's really on especially in k beauty and I had a product called

19:05skin cognito that was my foundation my foundation stick I really loved old

19:09Shanta Kai foundation sticks so I tried to sort of take that inspiration and

19:14emulate it into this formula that's creamy covering watch it so note we've 2.0 at it

19:21this is poor perfect when we first started selling skin cognito you couldn't

19:26super see if it away people were like sticks now because of YouTube yeah I

19:32like you kind of ever on there early I got there too it's a great and this is

19:37of course everybody want to leave discontinue them because they weren't

19:40selling this one is a three-in-one one side is a blurring stick with like the best

19:45beauty technology and this is the poor perfecting and one thing I started to

19:52really care about that skin cognito did for me was just cover my pores with one

19:57swipe they would fill in so yeah the blur stick I've seen you put that on on the

20:01subway before yes hashtag commuter beauty yes okay if you like scroll down on

20:06truth Instagram you'll find these like videos of her putting on makeup on the

20:11subway and I love that because I actually do that and people always think I'm so

20:13disgusting well who has the time I am to do them I I did all the time so it was

20:18very nice me too and my friend Crystal Mears and I started that hashtag we also

20:22did the find it and everything book together and we've had over a hundred

20:26thousand entries for people to be inspired by hearts found and unusual places and

20:32she's so smart and she's a huge beauty junkie and everybody loves working with her

20:36and you just get inspired to kind of call out like either to find the

20:41beautiful things in life with the heart book or how is it practical and how much

20:46are all of us doing makeup on the go and finding a rearview mirror which is not

20:51safe while driving or a subway mirror which kind of looks like a clown thing yeah not

20:56really a mirror you kind of like look in the window yeah yeah you have your

21:00compact I've done my nails on the subway so I I love sort of hearkening back to the

21:08awesomeness of beauty mixed with the reality of how many people really just

21:12have to find their time to do their makeup and it's usually like in a

21:16multitasking way but this I think is perfect for a commuter beauty and it

21:22really is my new Amex card and I never go anywhere without it you can use the

21:25blurring stick just on its own you on top of makeup too um I would do it

21:31underneath as a frying set me personally but I got really into color correcting

21:37as well as blurring and I do think the milk blur stick is literally magic it's

21:43magic it's very good I've never I haven't tried a formula like that and been so

21:47blown away but I got into color correcting but these have this very whipped formula

21:52so the frothiness literally there's a color called colors the company called

21:58color science that does these yes my son and the sunscreens and the powder and

22:02the powder stick is the best and I was so amazed at what a sort of filling baby

22:10layer of a complexion that's so unlike our own that they created so I wanted I was

22:15inspired by that so I made these in a more whipped way so that when you put them

22:20on there's something kind of smoothing and telling about it and then you can see

22:24your face and afterwards yeah I like illuminate I love that I love a good

22:31illuminating primer oh it has a nice like I love the green because it's really red

22:37correcting and when you blend it in the color really disappears so you're not kind

22:42of stuck with the green it just goes right in I love the texture of it feels like

22:47skincare yeah it's a very skin oriented yeah I like that like that shine or if you

22:53can see it on camera but it does have this like beautiful luminosity they have

22:57also this new so we have actually had one another one more audience question bring

23:05it on which is about entrepreneurship yes and what advice do you have for women

23:11who want to get maybe start their own business or any entrepreneurial advice that

23:15you may have for our reader for our viewers um I think it just takes an

23:19incredible amount of work I've worked late nights I've worked weekends I've sat there

23:25feeling guilty because I should be home with my children but if I do this right then I'll

23:30be able to spend a whole day with them the next day it's I think for any woman younger

23:37or with children you know there's always a sadly a sense of it's not enough I should

23:43be over here when I'm over here there's a lot of guilt and overwhelmingness and some

23:48girls are young and tenacious and they don't have that at all and good for them

23:51but I think it's hard because you have to give so much of your life up to your

23:58job and unless you're doing that I don't think it's as effective because it

24:03really is those people who believe in themselves and find the confidence to go

24:09and fight to make something happen to manifest it and that phone never rings and

24:13has that magical call of hey we heard you had a great idea we'd love for you to do it

24:17you

24:18have to like really just go in there day after day after day and if you're not thinking about

24:25something something tends to sadly also slip by and you've missed an opportunity so it's

24:31really about the dedication and no one's gonna hand anything to you no one's gonna magically

24:37be like let me handle that it's um it's a fight but it's a the word fight is negative

24:44and the fight for your life and to be at everything you want it to be and make things in

24:50the world and

24:50put them out there that's an empowered fight it's a worthy fight and I also don't believe that you do

24:55anything alone I know everything I do if I didn't work with the team I worked with them on that

25:01project

25:02it wouldn't happen I would be the dreamer in my living room feeling empty and not realized it's other

25:08people that you find that are like-minded and as hungry as you are and dedicated as you are and

25:13that's how you make things happen there is no I in team yeah you just find yourself some good people

25:18you have to find your tribe a hundred percent well thank you so much this is so fun I'm excited

25:24to see

25:24all of this in Olten next month I can't believe it and we have exclusives for them our palettes which

25:30are inspired by this blue is uh inspired by me by my memory of an old shuomora little single um

25:39good color that they don't make anymore it's a everything that gets discontinued breaks my heart

25:43but I'll never forget it because it just had this amazing sort of tone of electric and royalness

25:52um that I found so playful and yet sophisticated

25:57I love it well I'm excited that's going to be an exclusive at Ulta

26:01yep that's the holographic lip the metallic also gorgeous um and uh we have some other special

26:08goodies and we have something coming out later this year that might be one of the most proud

26:12I am our creative our creative developer Kate found this um it's I just it's the one I'm going to

26:22like push hardest because it's actually really changed my life okay yeah you can't tell us what

26:28it is no not yet because we're in process but we're making it we got the formula so april uh

26:33probably in

26:34the fall actually okay fall yeah stay tuned please because I think it's going to be such an enhancement

26:39to a woman's life I've never been able to have more luminous skin since I came across this product

26:45and you get things over the years and it's why you go to labs at like Christmas time and you're

26:51just

26:51exhausted and you're on that road and it's midnight and you've been everywhere all over the state of

26:56California going to different labs and it's the end of the year and everyone's really burnt and

27:01then you find something and you're like this is why I this is why I work this hard is to

27:07come across

27:07and discover things and really all flower beauty is is nothing to do with me I suppose that is going

27:14a

27:14bit too far but that's a very humble very humble thing for you to say I want to find things

27:19for women

27:20that are going to make them feel good about themselves and not kill their bank I don't

27:25shop expensively I don't buy expensively I know every trend on the runway I know every innovation

27:30that's going on but you can do it you can do it but I get it for a lower price

27:32going broke in the

27:33process I beg on behalf of women and change margins and figure out how to get it in their hands

27:38and

27:38when it's too much money I think things should be an all economics party and things should be

27:44an all-ages party and everyone's invited oh my gosh well with that thank you so much for joining
