00:00I'm not in any way put off by this entire process.
00:03More content, please.
00:05Thank you, content gods.
00:06However.
00:07Yeah, it's July 21st.
00:08The Rich Paul glow-up.
00:10I'm a little over this.
00:12He might get a Howard Stern interview the way that he's been going.
00:14I just, it's, you know.
00:16Is it a glow-up or is he the one guy that actually has information or could have information
00:20despite how many times he tells you he doesn't have information?
00:22His information is I don't have information.
00:24Well, currently.
00:25Like, who among us can just be like, by the way, we subside on opinions, okay?
00:33We don't traffic in information the way other people like to claim they do.
00:37Yeah.
00:37And some people actually can claim they do.
00:39But we're like, if I get information, you may or may not hear it.
00:43It's kind of not germane to the thing.
00:45I don't ever want to be one of those douchebags that's like, you know, I've been talking to people
00:50and it's like, oh, you're so important.
00:52Yes, you are.
00:53You're just such a little important sports talk show host, aren't you?
00:56Okay.
00:57One little Jiminy Glick there.
00:58However, if the whole bit is I have access to LeBron James and you don't.
01:06Yeah.
01:07And your response is, I got nothing for you.
01:10Well, no.
01:10Then what is it you would say you do here, Rich Paul?
01:13He wasn't doing that the entire stretch of the way, though.
01:15If it had been three weeks of I've got nothing for you, that would be different.
01:18He was doing, he was drawing up on whiteboards.
01:20He's got to go back to the whiteboard.
01:21All the different scenarios and he was, he was making these big proclamations.
01:25And then now, now he's at the spot where I don't know anything.
01:28LeBron hasn't told me anything.
01:30I'll know when you guys know, essentially.
01:32And it's like, all right, that's fine.
01:33If that's, if that's the route you want to take on it.
01:35I can't blame him for getting this podcast.
01:37A couple more views, a couple more clicks.
01:38I'm sure Max Kellerman absolutely loves what's going on with this.
01:41They spent about 20 minutes on the LeBron stuff.
01:44And then they moved to a Tim Donaghy story.
01:46Okay.
01:46Like it's not in belabor the point.
01:48They just kind of, they did it.
01:4920 minutes isn't belaboring the point when your point is, I have nothing to say.
01:52How many, how many minutes have we spent on it?
01:54What are you talking about?
01:5420 minutes is belaboring the point.
01:56I have something to say about it.
01:57Five hours a day on this topic.
01:58I don't have inside information, but I have something to say about it.
02:00If the whole point is, I got nothing for you.
02:03That doesn't take 20 minutes.
02:05That's a tight three minutes.
02:06I had to tight three minutes.
02:07What have you ever stuck to a tight three minutes?
02:09It's, well, I'm not a tight guy, but guy still has to create content.
02:13He's still, it's still going to be a 45 minute episode.
02:15He didn't, he didn't make the whole thing about LeBron.
02:18It was 20 minutes.
02:19Then he moved to a bad Tim Donaghy story.
02:20He doesn't have to create content.
02:22No, he's, he's, he's settling at the teeth of LeBron James.
02:25He does not need to create content.
02:27He gives you, he gives you 20 minutes.
02:28Well, no, the, the, the podcast clearly it's owned by the ringer.
02:31It's got, they got, they want views.
02:32They have to, they have to satisfy the, uh, the advertisers the same way anybody else does.
02:37Rich Paul's family might not eat if he doesn't come out and spend 20 minutes on, eh, nothing's
02:41happening.
02:41Okay.
02:41So you didn't want to hear from him?
02:43Is that what you're saying?
02:43I don't want to hear from him this much.
02:45Did he, did he waste his breath?
02:45Well, you didn't have to listen to it.
02:46You, he was on Pat McAfee today.
02:48Did you even, you didn't even listen to it on Spotify?
02:50Why are you defending Rich Paul?
02:51Why are you, why are you making a big deal about 20 minutes?
02:55No, it's not about, by the way.
02:5620 minutes is like some sort of inconvenience for you when you just watch the clips anyway.
02:59It's 20 minutes multiple times a week.
03:02I'm the idiot that actually tunes in and listens to the whole stupid thing.
03:05So now we finally agree on something and then realize like, geez, that was such a waste.
03:08Rich Paul is such a, he's just, he's just wasting everyone's time, but I'm the ones that click
03:13in on it.
03:14Is your problem here that you didn't get to complain about Rich Paul first?
03:17That sounds like your problem, right?
03:19No, mine is.
03:20He's got the, he's got the right and the Avenue to go for 20 minutes.
03:23He didn't, he's not milking this to the extreme.
03:26LeBron is.
03:27You want to put that on what you put that on somebody.
03:29You put that on LeBron.
03:30Don't put that on Rich Paul.
03:33When did I start working with a Rich Paul apologist?
03:36Clearly like five minutes ago, I guess.
03:38This is the lane I didn't even know I brokered in.
03:40Okay.
03:41I didn't even.
03:41Oh, wow.
03:42That's, we're entering conversation levels here.
03:44Hey, screw you.
03:46LeBron-versation and Quan-versation are catching on.
03:50Hey, screw you.
03:53Hey, we're having fun.
03:54Hey, we're having fun.
03:55Anyway, that meatball, Rich Paul was on.
03:57That meatball?
03:58Total meatball.
03:59Total meatball.
04:01I mean, the man has made a career out of riding the coattails of LeBron James and can't give us
04:05a single morsel.
04:06Well, he tried to.
04:08He tried.
04:08Little Buckaroo tried today.
04:11On the Game Over podcast saying, hey, don't believe any of those rumors.
04:16None of these people know anything.
04:19Nobody knows nothing.
04:20And I say that respectfully because we haven't made it to where anybody knows anything.
04:25So, I think it's important for people to understand we're not making this about attention and a spectacle.
04:33It's not about a decision or anything like that.
04:36He has a choice to make.
04:38He has a business choice to make.
04:40We're not going to sit here and decide or allow someone else to decide when he makes that decision or
04:45that choice.
04:46It's a business choice that he's making.
04:48And I think as an athlete, why is it that an athlete has to rush his choice?
04:54From a business perspective, you are making a choice between jobs, high-level jobs, and you've earned the right.
05:04You're a big-time executive that's with an unbelievable, arguably the best resume in the history of your job.
05:12Who's rushing you?
05:13Nobody.
05:15All right.
05:15So, here's the thing.
05:16No one's rushing LeBron.
05:18This is the most oddly defensive piece of sound I heard on the entire thing.
05:23Silver's kind of rushing LeBron.
05:24But he didn't even do it in, like, a menacing way.
05:26Like, Greg Doyle, who I enjoy, he's writing, who's now with the Indianapolis Star, one of those.
05:32You didn't sound sincere with that at all.
05:34The Tribune, a star, a dealer, one of those.
05:37He made his, oh, Adam Silver's furious with LeBron.
05:41It's like, did you even watch the video, bruh?
05:43He didn't.
05:44There was nothing furious about it.
05:45He had, like, a little smile to him, like, well, we've got to make the schedule.
05:49Well, he's not wrong.
05:50They do have to make the schedule.
05:51But, like, all right, so Adam Silver jokingly says he'd like LeBron to make the schedule.
05:55Why is Rich Paul, hey, we've got to go on the defense about this.
05:59Rich Paul sounded a lot like me and you over the past few days.
06:01So, I can't rail on Rich Paul when he's taking the same stance that we are, essentially,
06:05which is nobody knows anything, you know, and we'll find out when we find out.
06:10And in the meanwhile, LeBron gets and has been awarded the right to take his time with all this.
06:15Like, he sounds exactly like we have for a week now.
06:18Yeah, here's the difference.
06:22No one's pressuring LeBron to make a decision other than impatient talk show host who he's not listening to anyways.
06:29So, did you just not want him to come out and talk at all?
06:31Is that the idea?
06:32He still has a podcast that comes out once a week whether LeBron's making a decision regardless.
06:35I find his no one's going to bully LeBron into a decision.
06:37I find it to be false.
06:39So, he can say whatever he wants.
06:40I'm going to challenge him if I think he's full of crap.
06:42So, you think somebody can bully LeBron into it then?
06:45No, I don't know how you got that out of what I'm saying.
06:47What I'm saying is no one's bullying LeBron into doing anything.
06:50No one's even tangentially trying to pressure him into making his decision.
06:54I was currently trying to make him do that.
06:55Okay.
06:55And that's the difference in this.
06:56And also, by the way, we're like week four of the decision here.
07:03The idea that Rich Paul doesn't understand, this is a little bit longer of a runway than we've had with
07:09the other three previous decisions.
07:10Yeah, but here's the difference though.
07:12I don't think, I think he's reminding everybody of that.
07:15And there's one other thing he did put in in the 20 minutes of him talking about this whole ordeal.
07:19And I thought it was interesting.
07:20He carefully reminded everybody that LeBron James is the face of the NBA.
07:24And it stopped me.
07:25I had to think to myself, is he still the face of the NBA?
07:27I'm not sure.
07:28But the reason why, and this might go to the idea that LeBron gets to take his time and why
07:32Rich Paul has to remind everybody that LeBron gets his time.
07:35I think this is all about reminding everybody where LeBron's stake in the NBA currently is.
07:39Because when he says face of the NBA, I think to myself, is that accurate right now?
07:44I don't really know that it is or isn't.
07:46But the idea that you can hold up the entire association and the entire scheduling on this, it does wield
07:51some power that other stars just don't have.
07:53And so I think this is almost one way to remind everybody that LeBron still has as much power as
07:59he's claimed the entire time.
08:01And the people saying he's got no leverage and teams don't want him to play for their team, they're just
08:05full of it.
08:05And I think that's what the takeaway is.
08:07Oh, I think 100%.
08:08LeBron is either punishing or making a point.
08:11And I think it's dependent on who we're talking about.
08:14And even to Adam Silver, like I was joking with our guy Mobland on Twitter.
08:18And because he made the point of like, you know, Adam Silver might have cost us a couple extra days
08:22by making the kind of thing about, oh, we'd love to make that schedule by now.
08:27And I can just imagine Rich Paul calling Adam Silver and being like, just so you know, that's seven more
08:32days.
08:32Seven more days with no information, so you know that LeBron is still the man.
08:37It kind of feels like that.
08:39It's just one long, we're just going to remind everybody how awesome LeBron is, what his stature in the league
08:44still is.
08:44And if you think at 42 years old, he's only the 20th best player and can't dictate things, you're dead
08:49wrong.
08:50Watch and see how this goes down.
08:51Now, while we are talking about LeBron's decision and when he'll make it, I'm going to play for you three
08:57different clips.
08:58It's all in one, but three different clips.
09:00It starts with a last night show from Jake Volnick.
09:03Hey, Volnick made the cut.
09:04There is, had to.
09:05That's our guy.
09:06I love that.
09:06We bought stock in that young man very early.
09:09And, you know, Zoe, we're going to prop him up so I can slap him down.
09:13Overtime.
09:14Jeff Phelps as well.
09:16And then Ken Carman all talking about maybe the fading reaction to a LeBron homecoming.
09:22I am not waiting on pins and needles the way I was.
09:25I am not sitting here just wanting that type of information, needing that type of information.
09:30It's like, I'm going to be less excited about LeBron being here because of this.
09:34I'm running out of steam on the caring about where he's going to play.
09:38We got football practices coming up here.
09:41We got baseball that's back in full swing after the All-Star break.
09:44Like, let's go.
09:44You can only care about these things for so long before you go, okay, either make your decision or you
09:50don't.
09:50Like, I do think there is a law of diminishing returns here.
09:53And he's flirting with not striking while the iron's hot.
09:56With love and respect, too.
09:57Ken's life is just football practices.
09:59Yeah.
09:59Well, no, and it's baseball.
10:01I forgot the five hours of baseball they talked this morning.
10:04Yeah.
10:05And this baseball, like, Guardian season is holding us up for that five minutes of show we talked about the
10:10Guardians.
10:10I don't even know if he meant his kids' practices or, like, the Browns' practices.
10:14I really don't even know which one he meant there.
10:16I just, thoughts and prayers to Jake, Jeff, and Ken's families.
10:19They're just so besieged by the amount of things they have to do with waiting for LeBron.
10:26Oh, no.
10:27Don't talk about this.
10:28He might tomorrow take a shot at your back patio.
10:31Is that what he did today?
10:32Oh, is that what he did?
10:33Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:34And then he had to put the safety on.
10:35He was like, oh, I see those photos.
10:38And Nick, do something with that back patio.
10:40No, safety on!
10:41Safety on!
10:42Safety on!
10:43I don't want to insult the man too much.
10:45Safety on!
10:46I need 100 Cleveland men.
10:49Yeah, in fairness, the reason why I haven't been able to take care of that back patio
10:54is this LeBron decision.
10:55I want to.
10:56I so badly want to get out there with a pressure washer.
10:59You never know when LeBron's going to make that decision.
11:00But I've got to check my phone every five minutes.
11:02You don't want to start the job and not finish it.
11:04And if you start the job and LeBron happens, you've got a lot of things you have to do.
11:07I've forgotten my children's names.
11:10Not because I don't see them every day.
11:11Because it's like, I don't have the brainwaves to, like, put anything towards you guys.
11:16I'm in on LeBron.
11:19LeBron, absolute and complete, utter baloney from Ken, Jeff, and Jake.
11:25Oh, so today, if LeBron James says, I'm coming home, Cleveland, let's do this, the final tour
11:32starts today.
11:33You're not going to be excited?
11:34You're going to be as excited as if the day when he said, he's not going to the Lakers,
11:39if he turned around and said, I'm going to Cleveland, it would add the same level of
11:42excitement.
11:43This hasn't been dissipated for anybody.
11:44I don't understand why it would be.
11:47It's just pure impatience.
11:48People are just finding new and creative ways to talk about the fact that they're impatient.
11:53And here's the thing.
11:54Nobody cares.
11:56They don't.
11:57Like, nobody cares if it's like, oh, I'm getting bored with this story.
12:01Wait, let's call Jason Barrett.
12:02Let's get this one up on Barrett Media.
12:04Ken Carman, Jake Volnick, and Jeff Phelps.
12:07Kind of over the LeBron story.
12:09All right.
12:09Don't cry for me, Argentina.
12:11I'm going to take the Anthony Lima approach to all this moving forward.
12:14I enjoy how much it just makes the other host angry.
12:17I'm just going to relish in the idea that it makes all these other hosts upset and bothered
12:22at the idea that LeBron gets to take his time to make a big decision.
12:24All right.
12:25I will co-opt that to a point.
12:27I'm going to enjoy how ridiculous people are in explaining what a big inconvenience this
12:33decision is.
12:34Even fans like Jared, who was just melting down.
12:37Well, I want LeBron to come back.
12:38But if he doesn't come back, it's Evan.
12:40It's like, dude, no one's telling you.
12:43You have to live and die with every second here.
12:46The point is he comes home.
12:49If that takes him an extra three months, I guess I'll have to get by.
12:52You'll have to get by with your daily LeBron segments from a content perspective.
12:56I'm going to tell you.
12:57And by the way, from a lifestyle perspective, my life does not get any better or worse today.
13:03If he announces that he's coming home or going elsewhere, it just means it's something to
13:08talk about.
13:08Yeah.
13:09It's just something different.
13:09And now, I mean, it doesn't matter for the Cavs and how we talk about them all next year.
13:12That obviously drastically changes.
13:14But if he does that today or two weeks from now, it doesn't change my life.
13:17But again, even with the, there's still a floor with this Cavs team because you still
13:20have Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, Jared Allen, and James Harden.
13:24Like there is, there's, we're, we kind of have like a first world problem here.
13:28I know it's stunk getting, you know, swept out of the Eastern Conference finals.
13:32You still made it like it.
13:35And granted, I probably don't think they're back there next year as currently constructed.
13:40You're going to lose in the second round.
13:42Yeah.
13:43We're not in the lottery.
13:44You know, we're not, we're not, we're not the Washington freaking wizards here.
13:47I know, but there is a shakeup relative to whether or not LeBron does or doesn't join
13:51this team.
13:51I mean, think about it.
13:52Like if he doesn't join this team, we are in, we're in Jonathan Kaminga territory.
14:00You're not, you're not in on Kaminga.
14:02I mean, if that's all we can take, that's all we can take.
14:04It's not, it's not like I'm anti-Kaminga.
14:06It's more the idea that that's, that's, that's our big swing.
14:09That's our changeup.
14:10That's what we're doing off of last year.
14:11Sounds like it might be anti-Kaminga there.
14:13No, it's not his fault.
14:14It's not his fault.
14:15He's not that good at basketball.
