00:00We're going now to listen to our colleague Michelle Ramirez who's on the
00:04ground looking at the assessing the rescue operations that have been going
00:10on in the city of Caracas. I want to say hi to all the audience in TELASUR right
00:20now in San Bernardino in the city of Caracas where there's there's been a
00:30rescue operation going on the cameraman just had to move back from the security
00:42line so there's no close-up images or live images from this rescue but right
00:47now a rescue is going on. Right now in a few minutes
01:00we're seeing that the heroic job of these rescue crews, the rescue the
01:08people who want to thank everybody all the people in the sidewalks trying to
01:14help with everything they can. There's people still trapped beneath the rubble in
01:22this building, there's still people who are missing, declared missing from this
01:28neighborhood. Let's recall that acting president CelerÃas was saying that over a
01:35160 people have were killed by this disaster and rescue in this sense rescue
01:46operations and civil protection teams and especially in La Guayera, all of the
01:55Venezuelan people have come together to try to make a speedy rescue of these people
02:04who are still trapped beneath the role of these collapsed buildings. After this
02:11earthquake that was registered, this massive earthquake registered yesterday on June 24th.
02:19Right now there we can see the people working, right now we have a lot of people coming to us,
02:32seems like we lost communication,
02:34with our colleague Michelle Ramirez right now. She's underground in San Bernardino.
02:41These are the live images from San Bernardino, from the rescue of San Bernardino. Repeat, this is the live images
02:47of this neighborhood in San Bernardino, where two people are being rescued right now by civil defense teams, firefighters, the
02:57Red Cross ambulance, medical personnel.
03:00Let's recall that yesterday on June 24th, there was two massive earthquakes that struck Venezuela back to back.
03:10This earthquake struck initially at 6.05 p.m. local time in Venezuela.
03:19They were just seconds apart. We're still looking at the images of San Bernardino, of the Colas building in this
03:27neighborhood in Caracas.
03:29These three earthquakes, let's recall that they happened in the evening in Venezuelan time. The initial event was located around
03:3621 kilometers west of the municipality of Morón, positioned about 100 kilometers of Caracas.
03:42We're gonna go back now to our colleague Michelle Ramirez in San Bernardino, who's currently on the ground, covering the
03:51rescue of the people trapped beneath the rubble.
03:57As I was saying a few minutes ago, the rescue is underway for some people that fortunately are still alive
04:07trapped beneath the rubble.
04:12We saw the ambulance running away with these people. We saw the ambulance running away with these people that they're
04:19going to be moved to medical centers to receive medical attention.
04:28These are the live images of the ambulance. These are the live images of the ambulance that had taken away
04:34the people that had just been rescued from beneath the rubble.
04:37We right now have the rescue crews in this building where these people were found trapped beneath the rubble.
04:50They were able to get that down using a rope rescue operation.
04:58Like the acting president of Ciroligas was saying, the main priority is to save as many human lives as possible.
05:09We're looking at the victims of what we have witnessed right here in San Bernardino.
05:17After the victims were rescued from this collapsed building in San Bernardino, all the neighbors are outside in a very
05:29hopeful environment.
05:32Especially a lot of strength and a lot of solidarity among them after these two earthquakes that were registered in
05:42Northern Venezuela.
05:48We're looking at the joy of the people, the people clubbing in happiness following the rescue of these two people
05:56from the
06:04They asked everybody to move away from the area so they could retrieve the people that were trapped beneath the
06:12rubble.
06:13Also to care for their...
06:32We need to highlight the rescue operations.
06:39We need to highlight the people that are still outside, that are joining solidarity.
06:51There's a lot of people still marked as missing from this after this collapse.
07:03There's a lot of people that fortunately were rescued alive.
07:06This latest rescue took two people alive from the building.
07:12We'll continue covering from here.
07:16Those were the words from our colleague, Michelle Ramirez, who is underground in San Bernardino neighborhood in Caracas.
07:24Who was covering the rescue operation from a collapsed building that was partially collapsed, leaving a lot of people trapped.
07:32There's still a lot of people missing, but fortunately two people were just rescued by the firefighters and medical personnel
07:40and were taken to medical facilities to be careful in this moment.
07:45We could see the images of the ambulances driving away after these two people were rescued from this building.
07:52I repeat in San Bernardino neighborhood in Caracas.
07:57This, let's recall, is followed by how Caracas welcomed the morning of today, Thursday, June 25th.
08:09After an earthquake on June 24th, yesterday Wednesday struck Venezuela, Northern Venezuela, causing heavy damage across the capital city Caracas
08:20and the northern coastal state of La Guayra.
08:24Let's recall, there were two earthquakes, back-to-back earthquakes, that happened just seconds in between them at 6.05
08:33pm local time.
08:35The first one was a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck around 21 kilometers west of the municipality of Morón,
08:43positioned around 100 kilometers west of Caracas.
08:46Shortly after the first event, the authorities, the geological authorities, recorded another massive tremor of 7.5 magnitude,
08:56this time in the semi-centre situated 28 kilometers northwest of the municipality of Montalbán, also 100 kilometers from the
09:05capital city, Caracas.
09:06According to the official geological monitoring authorities across the region, the massive energy released from the fault line was so
09:14intense
09:14that the physical movement propagated across international borders, being clearly deferred by populations in neighboring Colombia,
09:22as well as the islands of Curacao, Aruba, and the wider Dutch Caribbean territory.
09:28In Caracas, the intense physical vibration caused widespread alarm, prompting hundreds of citizens to rapidly evacuate residential complexes,
09:37commercial towers and public buildings to minimize physical risks from falling structural elements
09:42and to guard against the imminent threat of potential aftershocks.
09:55As a result of the significant energy displacement caused by these twin seismic shocks in the southern Caribbean basin,
10:02the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center took immediate action by activating preventing tsunami warnings for the coastlines of Venezuela
10:11and adjacent insular territories, which includes Aruba, Curacao, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.
10:19The tsunami warning was lifted shortly after, a couple hours after it was launched.
10:31State emergency teams are currently assessing the structural integrity of key infrastructure across Caracas and northern coastal states,
10:40especially La Guayra, which suffered over a dozen building collapses.
10:45The Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace of Venezuela, the Estado Cabello, requested maximum tranquility from the population
10:52and their families to immediately execute established evacuation and prevention.
