00:10¡Gracias por ver!
00:30The Hell in a Cell looms over the ring for our final WWF pay-per-view of 2000.
00:36Welcome to Armageddon, live from Birmingham, Alabama on December 10th, 2000.
00:41Just under 15,000 are in attendance, an estimated 465 are watching at home.
00:46Our main event six-man Hell in a Cell match was only announced under two weeks ago,
00:50but what a way to draw viewers in and grab some pay-per-view buys.
00:54Champion Kurt Angle defends his WWF title against Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H,
00:58Rikishi, and The Undertaker inside the WWF's most brutal match type,
01:03and already you imagine it's going to be sheer chaos inside Hell in a Cell.
01:08Our other matches tonight were seemingly thrown together at the last minute.
01:12While many of these bouts do feature ongoing rivalries,
01:15practically all of them weren't made official until last week's Raw.
01:18Kinda shows the confidence WWF had in themselves during this era,
01:22or perhaps they just thought people would buy the show no matter what.
01:25But the main draw here is definitely Hell in a Cell,
01:28and that's why people are tuning in.
01:30Vince McMahon gave Commissioner Mick Foley a hard time about booking this match.
01:35He thought it was too dangerous,
01:36and Mick was only putting this main event together for his own sick pleasure.
01:40So Mick made a huge announcement on Sunday Night Heat.
01:43If anyone gets hurt during Hell in a Cell,
01:45if anyone gets badly injured,
01:47then Mick will resign as WWF Commissioner.
01:50You know,
01:51no one wants a safe Hell in a Cell match,
01:53and let's face it,
01:54fans want to see guys get wrecked in this match type,
01:57but at the same time,
01:59no one wants to see Mick Foley walk away from his Commissioner job.
02:02Quite the conundrum we have here tonight at Armageddon.
02:05Vince McMahon is here tonight,
02:07we'll hear from the Chairman later on,
02:09but first,
02:09we've got Team Extreme taking on the Radicals
02:11in a six-person elimination match.
02:18So,
02:19Stenko Malenko got his date with Lita,
02:21check out the last Reliving the War if you want to see how this happened.
02:24And when Dino's Six Machino finally got Lita in bed,
02:27the Hottie Boys wanted to watch,
02:29and Dean doesn't play like that,
02:30so the Iceman got attacked,
02:32and his night didn't go quite as planned.
02:34Tonight,
02:34Dean's teaming up with Eddie Guerrero and Saturn
02:36to take on Matt, Jeff, and Lita,
02:38and after the compulsory brawl to open up the match,
02:41the ring clears out,
02:42and we've got Saturn taking a double suplex.
02:44Eddie comes in to take a double wheelbarrow suplex,
02:47and Litaino Heat's gone back to wearing a singlet for tonight's show,
02:50haven't seen Eddie in such attire since his early WCW days.
02:54Jeff wipes out Eddie and Dean with a plancha,
02:56and this leaves Saturn and Matt all alone to do a little work,
02:59and when Eddie tags in,
03:01he is able to hit a back elbow,
03:02but he gets launched into the top turnbuckle before taking a back suplex.
03:06Jeff tags in,
03:07he gets some big elevation from a back body drop,
03:09he holds onto the ropes when Eddie goes for Hurricane Rana,
03:12and after an assist from Lita,
03:14Jeff delivers a Swanton bomb,
03:16and Eddie Guerrero gets eliminated.
03:18The Hardys get a bit too confident
03:19when they deliver poetry in motion to Dean Malenko.
03:22They try to do the same to Perry Saturn,
03:24but Saturn catches Jeff out for a Death Volley driver,
03:27and Jeff gets eliminated.
03:28It's now two on two,
03:30or maybe it's still three on two,
03:32as Terry Runnels provides a little assistance
03:34for the Radicals from the outside.
03:37And this assistance allows Saturn to hit a dragon suplex,
03:40but Matt kicks out at two.
03:41Matt then pulls off a great sidewalk slam counter
03:44when Saturn tries to hit Scissor takedown.
03:46It's so simple, yet effective.
03:48And after taking a leg drop and a twist of fate,
03:51Perry gets eliminated,
03:52which means Dino Machino's left all on his own.
03:55Terry gets in to get a piece of young Matt,
03:57this doesn't work out because Lita comes after Terry.
03:59This little scuffle allows Dean to steal a pin
04:02when Matt was distracted,
04:03so the two lovebirds of our story
04:05are left all alone once again.
04:07Lita brings it to the Radicals' resident sleazeball.
04:10Dean takes a headscissor takedown,
04:12he takes the moonsault,
04:13but he still kicks out at two.
04:15A DDT doesn't get the job done either,
04:17so Lita goes upstairs one more time,
04:19but she gets caught out
04:20and she ends up taking a superplex.
04:22Dean could have won the match here,
04:24but he wants to teach his opponent a lesson.
04:26So he delivers a clothesline,
04:28he delivers a backbreaker,
04:29and he finally puts Lita out of her misery
04:31with a Texas Cloverleaf.
04:32Dean Malenko wins this match for the Radicals,
04:35he escapes the ring before the Hardys
04:37can get their hands on him,
04:38and the outcome of this one
04:39makes us assume that this little storyline
04:41isn't over by a long shot.
04:44Lita even tells Michael Cole
04:45that she knows she can beat Dean
04:46if she got another chance.
04:52Lillian Garcia approaches Kurt Angle
04:55and the champ's not happy
04:56that his pre-match workout is being interrupted.
04:58Kurt says he's beaten people from all over the world
05:01to win his gold medal,
05:02so he's certainly not afraid of an eyebrow,
05:05a nose,
05:06a badass,
05:06a fadass,
05:07or a redneck.
05:08Angle believes he shouldn't be put in such a barbaric match
05:11in front of a bunch of redneck hicks,
05:13he believes Mick Foley's a sadist,
05:15but Angle's career will not end tonight
05:17and Kurt plans on drinking a cold glass of milk
05:20after retaining his WWF title.
05:23William Regal,
05:24goodwill ambassador and a jolly good fella,
05:26takes on hardcore Holly next,
05:28home state hero and a bombastic bastard.
05:31Regal knows these Alabamians,
05:34Alabamians,
05:36Albanians,
05:36are gonna cheer for Sparky Plug tonight,
05:38but Willie says it's his lordship who actually cares for these people,
05:42so he gives these fine folks a few tips on how to enrich their lives.
05:46First, they should use handkerchiefs,
05:48so they don't look like slobs all the time.
05:50Secondly,
05:51it's fine to wear overalls,
05:52but those overalls should be washed at least once a week.
05:55Thirdly,
05:56it's all well and good to like your farm animals,
05:58but loving your farm animals is completely disgusting
06:02and these folks need to stop it.
06:04Here comes bubble buddy Holly looking all angry,
06:06he's just so tough and hard ladies and gents,
06:09and he puts Regal down with a back elbow
06:11which results in the European champion taking a break on the outside.
06:15Hardcore gets thrown into the ring post,
06:17he replies with a back suplex back in the ring,
06:19Jerry Lawler's calling Hardcore a sheep shagger
06:21as he goes to the top rope,
06:23but Regal gets a boot up
06:24and William's gonna set Hardcore up for a superplex.
06:26Time to teach Hardcore a lesson
06:28as William Regal applies a bow and arrow,
06:31it doesn't get Regal a win,
06:32but it does make Hardcore scream like a little girl.
06:35Hardcore reverses a double underhook suplex with a back body drop,
06:38and he follows up with a stiff clothesline,
06:40a drop kick and a front suplex before going upstairs.
06:43Hardcore performs an Alabama jam
06:45which the commentators didn't pick up on
06:47and I don't think the crowd did either to be fair.
06:49Regal reverses a Hurricane Rana attempt with a powerbomb,
06:52Hardcore makes it to the ropes
06:53when the Regal stretch gets applied,
06:55Hardcore uses the steel plate in his Hardcore forearm
06:58to knock Regal out,
06:59but then Raven appears from nowhere
07:01and Hardcore takes the even flow.
07:04The commentators have no idea why Raven showed up,
07:06but this allows Regal to score a win
07:08and therefore it doesn't really matter.
07:10Regal is still champion of Europe,
07:12so all's well that ends well.
07:14Not a great match,
07:15and so far,
07:16this is feeling like an episode of Monday Night Raw.
07:21Kurt Angle turned on Rikishi this Thursday on SmackDown.
07:24There's a chance Triple H could turn on the big use tonight
07:27inside Hell in a Cell,
07:28but Rikishi doesn't care.
07:29He's worked too hard to get this WWF title shot,
07:32and Rikishi will sacrifice everyone in the ring
07:34to win the championship.
07:37Next up,
07:37we've got Chyna vs. Val Venus,
07:39another match thrown together at the last minute
07:41in a very unremarkable match
07:43that again reinforces that feeling
07:45of tonight's undercard being like an episode of Raw.
07:48The match starts off on the outside
07:50where Chyna gets the upper hand,
07:51Ivory tries to help Venus out,
07:53but this doesn't work out too well.
07:55Inside the ring,
07:56it's a drop toe hold
07:56and a few mounted forearms
07:58from the ninth wonder of the world,
08:00and Chyna performs at EDT
08:01before Venus finally gets in some offense.
08:04He performs his running knee strikes,
08:06he performs his Russian leg sweep,
08:08Ivory gets a few cheap shots in on the outside
08:10before Val performs a butterfly suplex
08:12back inside the ropes.
08:14A missed elbow drop allows Chyna
08:15to come back with a few forearm shots,
08:18a back body drop
08:18and a swinging neck breaker.
08:20Ivory's got a very, uh,
08:22a very scary look on her face
08:24as Venus continues to get wrecked,
08:26though he does manage to perform a power slam
08:28and he does go up for the money shot.
08:30But Chyna moves out of the way
08:32and that's when Ivory decided to intervene.
08:34Chyna gets tripped up,
08:36she chases Ivory around the ring,
08:38Ivory trips over her long dress
08:39and Chyna has to slow down a little,
08:42but Chyna falls right into the trap
08:44and she runs into Venus' fisherman suplex
08:46when she gets in the ring.
08:47Val Venus wins,
08:49the outcome isn't received well by fans in attendance,
08:52and the right to censor continue to piss the audience off
08:54when Chyna fails to get revenge after the match.
08:57She gets her hands on Ivory,
08:59but Venus saves his teammate
09:00by delivering a blue thunder bomb.
09:02Again, not a great match at all,
09:04but I do want to note how much Chyna's improved
09:06since her early days in the company.
09:08It's probably the only positive
09:09you can really take from this match.
09:16Earlier today,
09:17Kevin Kelly interviewed The Undertaker
09:18inside Hell in a Cell,
09:19and Taker says The Cell brings out his animalistic side.
09:23He begins craving the feeling
09:24of ripping another man's face off,
09:26and I can't say I've ever had that feeling before.
09:28It sounds a bit mental.
09:30Taker remembers making Shawn Michaels bleed
09:32in the first ever Hell in a Cell.
09:33It gave him such a rush
09:35that he wanted to do it all over again.
09:37So he went to King of the Ring 98
09:38where he threw Foley off the top of the cell,
09:40and he also gave Mick the chokeslam from Hell.
09:43A chokeslam that seriously injured poor Mick.
09:46And Taker says he really enjoyed
09:48punishing these guys inside Hell in a Cell.
09:51He enjoyed making Mick Foley famous,
09:52and he enjoyed making Shawn Michaels even more famous.
09:55The question is,
09:57who will Undertaker make famous tonight at Armageddon?
10:01Stephanie McMahon seriously worried
10:03about Triple H's well-being tonight,
10:04seeing as the game shortened his own career
10:06when he wrestled Cactus Jack inside Hell in a Cell
10:09earlier this year.
10:10So Mr McMahon says he's going to march right down to the ring
10:13and put a stop to our main event once and for all.
10:16McMahon comes down with Patterson and Briscoe.
10:18He's walking with a cane
10:19after the absolute beating he took on Raw
10:21from Steve Austin, The Rock, and The Undertaker.
10:24On Smackdown this past week,
10:26Vince also dished out some damage of his own
10:28when he told his wife Linda that he wanted a divorce,
10:31so McMahon's been on quite the physical
10:33and emotional rollercoaster over these past few days.
10:36McMahon said he really meant it
10:38when he said he doesn't want to be with his wife anymore,
10:40he meant it when he said his wife wasn't good enough for him,
10:43but Vince also meant it when he showed concern
10:45for the wrestlers competing in tonight's Hell in a Cell.
10:48McMahon's sympathy has fallen on deaf ears,
10:51the competitors don't seem to care,
10:53Mick Foley has trivialized the chairman's concerns,
10:55so McMahon stands before these fans
10:58not as the owner of the WWF,
11:00not as a certified billionaire,
11:02he stands here as a concerned and compassionate humanitarian.
11:06Go on, fuck yourself Vince.
11:08McMahon wants the fans to join him
11:10in preventing tonight's Hell in a Cell match,
11:13the crowd naturally boo McMahon's request,
11:15but Vince wants these fans to send a message
11:17to Mick Foley tonight
11:18and he wants the fans to show the world
11:20that they don't want to see tonight's main event.
11:23This silly shit wants five seconds of silence from the fans
11:26and he wants the audience to stand up
11:28to show their support for him.
11:30He gets angry when the fans refuse,
11:32so McMahon says very well,
11:34tonight's main event won't just be on Mick Foley's conscience,
11:37it'll be on the conscience of all these people as well.
11:41You know, after this speech,
11:43you'd expect full-blown chaos and unbridled violence
11:46inside Hell in a Cell tonight.
11:48It's sure being built up as such.
11:54Chris Jericho takes on Kane,
11:56next at Armageddon.
11:57This one was made a last man standing match
11:59and I pray this'll serve as the end
12:01of the Jericho vs Kane rivalry
12:03because this feud has done nothing for either man
12:06as far as I'm concerned.
12:08I do enjoy last man standing matches though,
12:10so maybe it can end on a high note.
12:13The two fight at the ramp.
12:14They then go backstage where they fight at a loading truck
12:17that's being filled with kennel bedding.
12:19It's kinda random, don't you think?
12:21Must be a big old dog going to sleep in that truck.
12:24Midian catches a few stray right hands too,
12:26which is also kinda random,
12:28and then the two competitors make their way down to the ring.
12:31Basically, the WWF wanted you to know
12:33that there's a big old truck sitting in the back,
12:35but we'll come back to this a bit later on.
12:37Diving back elbow from Y2J,
12:39Chris tries another high-risk move,
12:41but Kane catches him on the outside,
12:43resulting in Jericho taking a few bumps at the ring post,
12:45followed with a power slam.
12:46The two get in the ring where Chris takes a backbreaker,
12:49and Kane's gonna focus on Jericho's lower back
12:52in hopes that Y2J can't stand up after a 10 count.
12:55Jericho gets launched from one side of the ring to the other,
12:58the big red machine applies a reverse choke lift,
13:00which ends up knocking Chris out.
13:02Kane's told to release the hold,
13:04so Teddy Long can begin his count,
13:05but Chris gains consciousness at the count of seven,
13:08so Kane's gonna go back on offense.
13:11Jericho must be feeling a bit woozy,
13:13because he misses a spinning wheel kick
13:14and Y2J gets stumped on the canvas.
13:17He tries again and he does score on his second attempt,
13:19but Kane gets the knees up when Jericho goes for a lion salt
13:22and the big red machine flies with his diving clothesline.
13:25Chris gets up,
13:26Kane thinks his opponent really should've stayed down,
13:29so three hard punches get delivered
13:31and Jericho has another opportunity
13:32to just stay on the canvas and call it quits.
13:35He decides to get up,
13:36he invites Kane to try again,
13:38so Kane's like,
13:39alright then,
13:40and the Ayatollah gets chokeslammed so hard
13:41that there's no way he's gonna get up before 10.
13:44Of all the evils that Kane's seen in his life,
13:47of all the unbelievable hellscapes
13:49he's traveled through during his time on Earth,
13:51he cannot believe his burnt eyeballs
13:53when Jericho gets to his feet again.
13:55So he grabs a chair,
13:56he whacks Jericho twice
13:58before setting him up for a tombstone,
14:00Chris manages to avoid disaster
14:01and he delivers a low blow
14:03and Kane takes a DDT.
14:05Jericho then takes the chair
14:06and Kane gets cracked on the head
14:07after a wild swing.
14:09Jericho thinks he's got it one,
14:11but the big red machine gets up,
14:12so it's a running forearm,
14:14a missile dropkick
14:15and a facebuster from Chris
14:16before he sets the chair across Kane's chest
14:18for a lion's salt.
14:20Not the smartest move in the world
14:21and it was all for nothing
14:22seeing as both men stand up
14:24and the match continues on.
14:26Kane delivers a big boot,
14:27Y2J gets dumped out of the ring
14:29and the two travel up the entranceway
14:30for the match finish.
14:32Kane tries to chokeslam Jericho through a table
14:34but Chris avoids it
14:35and it's Kane taking all the impact.
14:37Chris then uses a big entrance prop
14:39to win the match
14:40as he pushes some stacked barrels
14:41on top of his opponent
14:42and that's how it ended.
14:44Jericho defeats Kane at Armageddon
14:46and yeah, it was alright I guess.
14:49It certainly won't be the first
14:50last man standing match
14:52that springs to mind
14:53when the match type gets mentioned
14:54and if this is the payoff for the rivalry
14:56then it's actually quite fitting.
14:58The feud was mediocre
15:00and honestly,
15:01so was their final match.
15:05Debra tells Jonathan Coachman
15:07that Mick's quite upset
15:08about Mr McMahon's promo
15:09but Foley gives an interview anyway.
15:11He says Vince McMahon's been right
15:13about a lot of things
15:14but he's dead wrong
15:15about tonight's Hell in a Cell.
15:16Fans do want to see the match
15:18and the match will take place.
15:20Mick feels responsible
15:21for all the men competing
15:22in tonight's main event.
15:24He admits he will be happy
15:25when it's all over
15:26but Mr McMahon is not going to stop
15:28the Cell match from happening
15:30at Armageddon.
15:31We get to see HBK
15:33making a few sniff-sniff deliveries
15:35at WWF New York.
15:37It's two for one
15:38on pay-per-view nights,
15:39don't you know?
15:40A Four Corners Tag Team
15:42title match took place next.
15:44There were some arguments
15:45going on about
15:45who should be the number one contenders
15:47and the Dudleys confused things
15:48even more when they showed up
15:50to Raw dress like members
15:51of the Right to Censor.
15:52Turns out Bubba Ray and D-Vaughn
15:54are way too immoral
15:54to join the RTC
15:55so they,
15:57along with Doggy Style Quickie
15:58and Edge and Christian,
15:59have an opportunity tonight
16:01to win the Tag Team Championships
16:02from the Goodest of Fathers
16:03and the Bullest of Buchennans.
16:05This one was first fall to a finish
16:07and it completely broke down
16:08after Kay Quick's dive
16:10over the top rope.
16:11He got caught out
16:11by the Right to Censor,
16:13Goodfather delivered
16:13a shoulder breaker,
16:15Road Dogg managed to take out
16:16the Right to Censor
16:17but he forgot about Stevie Richards.
16:19The RTC's leader
16:20delivers a superkick
16:21while inside the ring,
16:22Edge finds himself
16:23taking the Dudleys' headbutt.
16:25The Dudleys want to get some wood
16:26so they go out
16:27and grab a table.
16:28This gets used
16:29to keep the Right to Censor stunned
16:31a little longer
16:31so the Dudleys can pull off
16:32a Doomsday device
16:33back inside the ring.
16:35Bubba Ray and D-Vaughn
16:36continue to dominate
16:37by dishing out 3Ds
16:38to Bull Buchennan
16:39and the Goodfather.
16:40Christian then took the headbutt
16:41and fans started to think
16:42that the Dudleys had it won.
16:44But Stephen Richards
16:45got involved again
16:46when D-Vaughn tried
16:47to retrieve the table
16:48and this left Bubba
16:49all alone to take a spear
16:50from Edge
16:50in the unprettier
16:51from Christian.
16:52E and C are once again
16:54tag team champions
16:55and for my money
16:56this was the right call.
16:58Watching all this go down years ago,
17:00I always liked
17:01Edge and Christian
17:02but nowadays
17:02I appreciate their
17:03Attitude Era characters
17:05even more.
17:05I find them funnier
17:07and way more entertaining
17:08now than what I did back then
17:09and they definitely put in the work
17:11every time they got booked on TV,
17:13so no complaints here
17:15and the match was pretty decent too.
17:21Stephanie's expressing her concerns
17:22through her husband Triple H
17:24but Hunter tells his wife
17:25to shut her mouth.
17:26The WWF title means
17:27everything to the game
17:28and it doesn't matter
17:29what it takes,
17:30pro wrestling is Hunter's life.
17:32Triple H'll do anything
17:33to get the championship
17:34back around his waist,
17:35he fully appreciates
17:36how dangerous
17:37Hell in a Cell is
17:38but it really doesn't matter.
17:39No one's going to stop him
17:40becoming champion once again.
17:43Billy Gunn defended his IC title
17:45against Chris Benoit next.
17:46Jim Ross says Billy Gunn,
17:48right now,
17:48is the WWF's best athlete
17:50and that's one crazy fucking statement
17:52to make when you've got
17:53an Olympic gold medalist
17:55on your roster.
17:56He's sure going to get tested
17:57here tonight by the self-proclaimed
17:59greatest technical wrestler
18:00in the world
18:00but Billy holds his own
18:02with a drop toe hold,
18:03some snoppy arm drag takedowns
18:05and a few hip tosses.
18:06Benoit gets stumped out of the ring
18:07and he ends up getting chinned
18:08on the ring post.
18:09Chris uses his opponent's own
18:11momentum against him
18:12when throwing the one
18:13into the ring steps
18:14and back in the ring,
18:15Billy's going to get punished
18:16in the corner
18:16as Chris puts focus
18:17on the champ's left leg.
18:19Benoit drills Billy's leg
18:20into the mat,
18:21he performs a drop kick,
18:22Billy screams oh Jesus
18:24as he takes a dragon screw
18:25and the WWF's greatest athlete
18:27isn't looking too hot
18:28as Benoit applies
18:29a figure four leg lock.
18:31The pressure gets reversed
18:32and the move gets broken up
18:33and fair play to Billy,
18:35he remembers the sail the leg
18:36when going four
18:37and missing a stinger splash.
18:39I know it's basic as hell
18:41but I've watched a ton of wrestling
18:42ladies and gents
18:43and it's amazing how often wrestlers
18:45totally forget to sell targeted beatdowns.
18:48Billy gets suplexed
18:49straight to the shadow realm,
18:50Benoit goes up for the headbutt
18:52but he misses his target.
18:53The one-legged Billy Gunn
18:55performs a power slam
18:56and a gorilla press
18:57but he's still favouring that knee
18:58and he's very slow
18:59when performing the jackhammer.
19:01I liked how Billy tried to take the weight
19:03off his injured leg
19:04when performing this move
19:05and again,
19:06it's basic stuff
19:07but it really helps sell the injury.
19:09Billy delivers a famouser
19:10but he's too slow
19:11when making the cover.
19:12His cobra clutch slam
19:14gets easily countered
19:15and the icy champ
19:16finds himself
19:16in a crippler crossface.
19:18Luckily,
19:18he's able to make it to the ropes
19:20and Billy gets another chance
19:21but he fails big time
19:23when trying a tilt-a-word slam
19:24and I'd like to think
19:25this was another effort
19:26to sell the injury
19:27but I'm not so sure about that.
19:29The match ends with Billy
19:30trying a roll-up
19:31but Benoit kicks out.
19:32The challenger applies the crossface
19:34one more time
19:34and Billy topside.
19:36Chris Benoit has won
19:37the Intercontinental Championship
19:38and, you know,
19:39I actually like this match
19:40more than others
19:41just because of the way
19:42Billy sold his injuries.
19:44It's more interesting to me
19:45seeing this
19:46rather than two guys
19:47going through the motions
19:48and there's another level
19:49of psychology here
19:50thanks to Gunn remembering Decel
19:52even when he was on offense.
19:54So yeah,
19:55again,
19:55no complaints.
19:56The match wasn't amazing
19:58or anything
19:58but you can't really complain.
20:03Jim Ross interviewed Steve Austin
20:04earlier today
20:05and Stone Cold said
20:06there's really no way
20:07to prepare for Hell in a Cell.
20:09He had a restless night
20:11but he's just eager
20:11to start the match.
20:13Austin admits
20:13he doesn't really have a game plan
20:15he's just going to let the chips fall
20:17where they may.
20:18He knows for Kishi and Triple H
20:19are in the match
20:20and while he still wants to get revenge
20:21on these two
20:22for what they did to him last year
20:23Stone Cold understands
20:24that the ultimate prize
20:25is the WWF Championship.
20:27That's what Austin needs to focus on
20:29in tonight's main event.
20:31Ivory defended her women's championship
20:33in a triple threat match.
20:35She faced Molly Holly
20:36who's gotten over pretty well
20:37with WWF fans since her arrival
20:39and she also faced Trish Stratus
20:41another lady who seemingly
20:42became popular
20:43the moment she walked into the company.
20:45The women were afforded
20:47just over two minutes here
20:48which was absolutely preposterous
20:50for a championship match
20:51on pay-per-view.
20:52I understand the main draw
20:54is Hell in a Cell
20:55but Shawn Michaels had nearly
20:56the same amount of time
20:57for his interview from Times Square.
20:59Ivory stood back
21:00while Trish and Molly went to work.
21:02She did interject herself
21:03when Molly landed on her feet
21:04from a monkey flip.
21:06Molly answers with a double dropkick
21:07but the heels formed an alliance
21:08when performing a double suplex.
21:11That alliance however
21:11was broken when Ivory cheap-shotted Trish.
21:14So, Molly performs a top rope crossbody.
21:17She then dumps Ivory out of the ring.
21:19She shows what she can do
21:20with a sit-down powerbomb
21:21but Ivory steals the glory
21:22when she throws Molly out of the ring
21:24and she pins Trish.
21:26After the bell,
21:26TNA come out to attack Molly.
21:28Molly's cousin runs down to help out
21:30and young Elroy's in trouble
21:31when Tess and Albert step in the ring.
21:33The APA then make their return
21:35and they want to get a piece of TNA
21:37for ripping off their protection business
21:39and the crowd goes crazy
21:40as Tess takes a spinebuster from Farouk
21:42and Albert takes Bradshaw's clothesline from hell.
21:45The audience love these two for sure
21:47and they're very happy to see
21:48the APA back in the WWF.
21:50I'm just happy to see Bradshaw
21:52wearing his APA shirt that says
21:54always pounding ass.
21:59The Rock says tonight's the night.
22:01Careers are on the line.
22:02The WWF title is on the line.
22:04If Rock has to bleed from every pore in his body,
22:07he's going to do it because
22:07Rock wants to win the gold for the sixth time.
22:10Tonight Rock's going to sweat,
22:11he's going to bleed,
22:12he's going to whip five candy asses
22:14and Rock's going to walk straight into hell
22:16and walk out WWF champion.
22:18We already know the story.
22:20Mick Foley booked this match
22:21because he understands it can change careers for the better.
22:24He also knows it can end careers,
22:25so he's put his own job on the line
22:27if someone gets seriously injured.
22:28But this is not enough for Vince McMahon.
22:31The chairman tried to stop guys competing inside hell in a cell tonight.
22:34They all answered McMahon by beating him up on Raw.
22:36But as we seen earlier on,
22:38McMahon still doesn't want this match to happen for two reasons.
22:41Vince thinks Foley's only booked the match because the commissioner gets some sort of sick pleasure
22:45in seeing guys mutilate each other.
22:47In two, McMahon's worried about his investments.
22:50He's worried that guys like Stone Cold and The Rock are shortening their careers by competing in such a match.
22:55The game makes his entrance first.
22:57A very green rikishi makes his way to the ring next.
23:00Next out it's the WWF champion, which is kinda weird,
23:03but I guess they wanted to keep all the babyfaces coming out as the final three.
23:07The Undertaker debuts his new theme song here, it's Rollin' by Limp Bizkit.
23:11Next out it's the people's champion,
23:13who had a lot of fun making a mockery of his opponents on Raw this past Monday.
23:17And finally, here comes Stone Cold Steve Austin.
23:20The pieces are in place, it's time for the Armageddon six-man hell in a cell.
23:29Austin dashes at Kurt Angle before getting inside the cell.
23:32The champ gets tossed inside as Stone Cold then goes to work on Triple H,
23:36Rock and Rikishi are bottling it out as is the Undertaker and Angle,
23:39and not a single soul is inside the ring. It's utter chaos right from the get-go.
23:44Finally, Kurt and Undertaker step inside the ropes and Angle takes a corner clothesline.
23:49In the opposite corner, Kurt gets his neck snapped over the middle rope,
23:52and these two then exit the ring so Rock and Rikishi can do a bit of work center stage,
23:56which is actually a pretty good way to lay out the start of the match.
23:59This gives everyone a little ring time before all hell breaks loose,
24:02and trust me, all hell will indeed break loose.
24:06After Rock takes Rikishi out with a big jumping clothesline,
24:09we get the rattlesnake and the game inside the ring.
24:11Hunter performs the facebreaker knee smash, Austin replies with a Luthez press,
24:15Stone Cold drops an elbow on Triple H's gigantic nose,
24:18and Hunter also takes the dreaded leapfrog teabag.
24:21Rock and Kurt then get in the ring and it doesn't take long for Hunter and Austin to make their
24:25exit,
24:26it's a Samoan drop from the People's Champion and a back elbow from the WWF Champion.
24:30Though this format of only two guys getting in the ring at the one time wasn't going to last forever,
24:34so the ring gets vacated and we get more brawling on the outside.
24:38Guys are throwing each other in the cage panels, there's bumps on the ring steps,
24:42it kinda dawns on you here that no real story can get told in this hell in a cell match,
24:47and it was the stories of the previous cell matches that made them so great,
24:50Bossman vs Undertaker notwithstanding.
24:53Stone Cold's now grinding Triple H's face into the cage and this ends up tearing the game's forehead open.
24:58Finally, we're seeing something a little more violent.
25:01But Stone Cold doesn't want to end this punishment after Triple H begins bleeding,
25:05as a matter of fact he's going to march down the whole length of the cage while scraping the
25:09game's face into the steel. Austin wants to bring Triple H into the ring but Rikishi ends
25:14up helping the game, these two promise to form an alliance this past week on Raw,
25:18but that no good dirty dog Triple H backstabs his buddy and Big Keish takes a pedigree.
25:23Rock has to save the match when he breaks up Hunter's cover,
25:25and Hunter takes a DDT for being such a bastard.
25:29Here comes Angle with an Olympic slam on Rocky, here comes Austin with a Stone Cold stunner on Angle,
25:34the American Badass comes in to put Austin down with a chokeslam,
25:37and it's Triple H who keeps the match alive by breaking the cover.
25:45Undertaker makes Triple H pay by beating the tower out of him on the outside,
25:49Hunter gets launched into the cage and the Deadman runs the game face first into the steel.
25:53No doubt about it, Hunter's took the biggest beating of the night so far.
25:57Austin, meanwhile is on fire in the ring and he delivers a clothesline to Rikishi and he sends
26:02Taker back to the outside with a clothesline, and Stone Cold's looking good as he performs a
26:06Luthez press on the Big Oose. It's at this moment where Vince McMahon tries to stop the Hell
26:11in a Cell match by coming down the ringside on that truck we saw during the Kane vs Chris Jericho
26:15match,
26:16the truck filled with kennel bedding which was made up of wood shavings.
26:20The plan here is to tie a chain onto the Hell in a Cell and tear it down by using
26:24the truck,
26:25and this plan does work at first seeing as McMahon's able to get the door ripped off its hinges.
26:30Vince then wants to tear the entire cell down using this method and I don't know guys,
26:34I don't think this is gonna work, but we aren't gonna find out anyway because Mick Foley appears and
26:39stops McMahon in his tracks. Not only does Foley stop McMahon, he also takes out the Stooges before
26:44getting arena security to escort Vince back behind the curtain. So the match will continue but now
26:49we don't have a cage door and we also have a giant truck sitting at ringside. Triple H takes this
26:55opportunity to try and escape but Stone Cold ensures the game isn't going anywhere, these two end up
27:00fighting at the entranceway and Austin uses the parked cars and a boom camera to do some damage to the
27:05game. Undertaker, Angle, Rock and Rikishi show up on the entranceway too as an all out brawl takes
27:11place outside Hell in a Cell and Triple H finally fights back by putting Stone Cold's head through
27:16the truck window. Angle gets his head drilled through a window too but the cameras miss the impact and
27:21it got no pop from the audience whatsoever. What does get a pop though is the Rock one for a
27:25rock bottom
27:26on Triple H on top of a car but unfortunately the move doesn't happen. Instead Hunter counters with a
27:31low blow and Rock ends up taking the pedigree. Steve Austin's bleeding.
27:35The Rock's bleeding. It's kind of ironic that the match has gotten much more vicious outside of the
27:40cell and the carnage continues with the men using the cars to inflict as much damage as possible.
27:46Austin's now destroying Triple H while the other four men head back down to ringside and Angle's
27:50able to keep the undertaker at bay with a chair shot at the timekeeper's area. This shot would bust the
27:55dead man wide open. It's now time to travel to the cell roof, the crowd are going crazy as Hunter
28:01and
28:01Austin make their way up. The two go at it and the game's very close to falling off the edge
28:06and as
28:06Kurt and the undertaker begin making their way up Austin performs a stunner on the game. So we've
28:11now got four guys up there and we all know how dangerous the undertaker can be when he's in this
28:16specific environment. After a little brawling Triple H decides to head back down and the crowd
28:20loudly boo when the game makes this decision. Steve Austin soon follows but Rikishi is now trying to
28:26climb up and the Rock's having no luck in stopping him from doing so. Meanwhile Kurt Angle's getting
28:31absolutely mauled by the undertaker as the WWF champion takes a chair shot to the face but Rikishi
28:36takes that same chair and the big man goes on a rampage. Both undertaker and Angle take chair shots,
28:42Angle finally comes around and he's sensible enough to get out of harm's way by climbing down the cage
28:47and then the big spot of the match happens as Taker begins fighting back. The dead man brings Rikishi to
28:53the edge of the cage, the fans know what's gonna happen. The undertaker puts his hand around Rikishi's
28:58neck and a push sends the big man falling down into the truck filled with wood shavings. Now,
29:03no, it's nowhere near as spectacular as Mick Foley's bump at King of the Ring 98 but it still takes
29:08some
29:09big balls to fall off that cage backwards. I remember reading or hearing somewhere that Shane McMahon took
29:15the bump multiple times before the show during rehearsals just to make sure it was all properly lined up,
29:20but still, it'd be scary up there not knowing if you were gonna hit your target. People rag on this
29:25bump because of the soft landing but I give full credit to Rikishi for doing it. Fair play big man.
29:31The Rock and Steve Austin are now standing face to face and the crowd popped for these two going at
29:35it just as much as they did for Rikishi's fall. We're seeing the end of reliving the war right here
29:40in
29:41the ring guys. Rock avoids a stunner, he delivers a spinebuster to Stone Cold, he wants to hit the people's
29:46elbow but Triple H makes sure it doesn't happen and Rock gets a little payback by sending Hunter out
29:51of the ring. Kurt Angle runs straight into a rock bottom, Austin breaks the cover, the Rock takes a
29:57stone cold stunner but when Austin goes for the cover, Triple H wakes up and the game counters a
30:02stunner with a neck breaker. This allows Kurt Angle to put his hand on Rock and this is going to
30:06give
30:06Angle a pinfall win. Kurt Angle retains the gold inside Hell in a Cell, the fans are not happy with
30:12the
30:12outcome but to cheer them up a little, the champion takes a stone cold stunner and it's Austin's music
30:17that plays to end the show. A lot of broken bodies in the ring right now and Rikishi could be,
30:23in kayfabe, seriously injured. What this means for Mick Foley we don't know but we'll find out
30:28tomorrow night on Raw, I'm sure.
30:36I consciously avoided saying this after most matches tonight but this pay-per-view really does feel like
30:41an extended episode of Raw bar the Hell in a Cell main event. The main event too? I'm sorry,
30:47it's probably a cardinal sin to say this but I actually didn't think it was as good as everyone
30:52makes it out to be. I mean yeah, it definitely picks up after the cell door gets ripped off and
30:57the guys work their asses off during the last 5 minutes or so but for me, it doesn't compare to
31:02Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker or Undertaker vs Mankind. Those matches had pretty deep psychological
31:07aspects to them which made Hell in a Cell seem like more than just a giant cage. This one right
31:13here was more about sheer mayhem which we really should have expected seeing as it had 6 people
31:18included. It's not bad, I still think people should definitely watch it, I just don't think it's this
31:23great attitude era showdown that everyone says it is. So in closing, Armageddon 2000 is everything I
31:30feared it would be, it's a one match pay-per-view. There's nothing here that could have potentially
31:34happened on weekly TV except for the chaos that was the main event and I think it's one of the
31:39weakest
31:39of the WF pay-per-views of the year. You should check out Hell in a Cell and skip the
31:44rest really.
31:45But thank you very much for watching another video in the Reliving the War series,
31:49come over on Thursday for the Armageddon Fallout and until then, please take care.
32:05We'll see you next time.
32:08.
