01:00In Slick Rick made the main event a steel cage straightjacket match, we'll talk about
01:04that a bit later on, but we see Booker and Scotty entering the arena. Booker T was happy
01:09to sign autographs while Scott was happy to wreck the security guy's expensive laptops.
01:13This looks like it's going to be Steiner's night judging by the promotional work done
01:17for WCW Mayhem, but right now we're going to kick off with Cweewee vs Mike Sanders for
01:21the Cruiserweight Championship.
01:28Sanders and Cweewee train together in the WCW power plant but Sanders says he doesn't
01:32even know Cweewee anymore. Cweewee's all pretty and pink nowadays and Sanders says, and I quote,
01:38let me show you how we handle our biatches before giving Mr. Wee a backhander. This, of course,
01:45leads to Cweewee unleashing Angry Alan, his alter ego similar to the Incredible Hulk, and
01:51Sanders gets sent out of the ring. The natural born thrillers appear to back their boy up
01:55and Jindrak gets in a diving clothesline while the referee's distracted. Commentator Stevie
01:59Ray thinks the referee's in on this, but we know better guys. Slick Johnson's just
02:04the most oblivious referee of all time.
02:06What I didn't expect was this next move, and it honestly makes the whole match worth
02:10watching. Jindrak and O'Hare's double bail into a Mike Sanders power slam. That's
02:15some good stuff right there folks, and I must have rewatched this move about five times.
02:19While Sanders was celebrating his excellent work, Paisley went to the back. She got herself
02:23a new hairdo, and she also found the man called Ming. Absolutely loved that Paisley got herself
02:28an afro so she could match the mingers look. Ming goes after the thrillers as all hell breaks
02:33loose on the outside, he's locked in the Tongan death grip on Stasiak and Reno while
02:37the other thrillers try to beat Ming down. Ric Flair ends up appearing and the nature boy
02:42wants some law and order during this chaotic opening match, and Mike Sanders doesn't seem
02:47too happy that his boys are getting sent to the back. So he does the only thing an angry
02:51man would do at this point in time. Apply a devastating chin lock. Yes Mike, get the
02:56aggression out.
02:57Queewe gets up, he delivers a knee lift, a clothesline and a back body drop. He tries
03:02a sunset powerbomb to the outside but Mike counters with a hurricanrana. Back in the ring,
03:06Queewe replies by taking Paisley's afro and punching Mike in the face. It's goofy but
03:11I'm actually enjoying this a lot. Paisley comes in for a handspring back elbow and it was
03:16so awesome that it screwed up the video feed, though in the end Sanders pulls off the 3.0
03:21and Mike retains his cruiserweight belt. I didn't expect much from this match but I
03:25ended up having fun with it. Good opener for WCW Mayhem even if it was pretty chaotic.
03:34Ric Flair makes a rolling for tonight. With the exclusion of valets and managers, no one's
03:39allowed to appear at ringside, no interference allowed. This is pretty insane when you think
03:44about how prevalent interference is in WCW so it looks like the company's been listening
03:48to feedback. It fucking took you long enough.
03:52The Boogie Nights make a deal with Chronic. It was supposed to be the knights taking on
03:56Rey Mysterio, Conan and Kidman but Disco says he's hurt and he can't compete. On top
04:01of that, Conan's also hurt so the matchbooking is all messed up. The Boogie Nights want Chronic
04:05to team up with Alex for a 3 on 2 match but because the Boogie Nights don't have enough
04:09money and because Chronic drive a hard bargain, they decide they'll only help Alex during
04:14this handicap match for 7 and a half minutes. We'll come back to this in just a moment
04:18but even Alex says this is a bad deal.
04:21New buddies Evan Courageous and Jamie Noble took part in a three-way tag team match next
04:26against their respective former stablemates, Three Count and the Young Dragons. There seems
04:30to be a little friction between Courageous and Noble though because Evan accidentally revealed
04:34that he got it on with Jamie's sister many years ago, and what a coincidence that is eh?
04:40Highlights here included the Young Dragon showing three count how to really dance, Jamie showing
04:44there's more to him than high spots by slowing things down and working over the arm, three
04:49counts double team German suplex and heel combo, and Yang showing a lot of fire when he
04:53came in after a hot tag. We got the usual multiple dives to the outside and there was some really
04:59good stuff here. In particular, Jamie sent on Dive and Yang's springboard corkscrew, Leah
05:04Mia wanted to show what she could do with a big splash and while it was nothing special, the fans
05:09absolutely loved it. Sugar Shane jumped on Yang's shoulder for a splash inside the ring as the
05:14high spots kept coming, but the match had to end at some point. So three counts score a win with
05:19the
05:19countdown and our favourite boy band wins at WCW Mayhem. Great match here and it comes highly
05:25recommended if you're into high flyers. It brought me back to the glory days of WCW Cruiserweight
05:30wrestling. We go backstage again where Chronic remind the Boogie Nights that they only have
05:36their services for 7 and a half minutes tonight. Disco says if they go a minute over it's fine
05:41because he's got good credit, just ask Pamela here. But Chronic say no, 7 minutes and 30 seconds
05:47and that's it. Once the time's up, Olegs will be all alone so hopefully the match doesn't go on
05:52a second longer. Bam Bam Bigelow's beating up Mike Awesome. These two are scheduled for a match
05:58later on but it looks like it's not going to happen. Sergeant AWOL comes to Awesome's rescue
06:03and if this means AWOL's replacing Awesome, I'll be very, very upset.
06:08Next it's Jimmy Hart vs Mancow. For those unaware, Jimmy's been challenging radio DJs across America
06:15for absolutely no reason whatsoever and now he's trying to fake a leg injury so he doesn't have to
06:20work this match. Honestly, I'd fake a broken leg right now too if I didn't have to watch this match.
06:25I don't care about Mancow, I don't know anything about him and I don't want to know anything about
06:30him either and after that stinger these two put on at Spring Stampede, I'm actually shocked that WCW
06:35would put this on TV again. I know it's a silly attraction match but I've never heard anyone saying,
06:41dude, I can't wait to see Jimmy Hart take on Mancow. Ric Flair said earlier that only managers and valets
06:47are allowed at ringside, these kind of things need licenses, but for some reason Mancow's allowed
06:53six people at ringside. He gets in the ring and runs down Mark Madden because Madden's the easiest
06:58target in the world. Jimmy Hart hobbles down and he apologises, he can't compete, and he calls Mancow
07:04the greatest DJ in the world while extending his hand. Mancow spits in Jimmy's hand, he calls Jimmy
07:09Al Gore while Mancow's George Bush… yeah. And Jimmy smacks Mr. Cow with his crutch before the DJ's cronies go
07:17after Hart. Three count rundown to take out the goons, Mancow goes after Jimmy but the Mouth of the
07:22South hits a low blow. Mancow fights back and he takes Jimmy's cast off, and after Jimmy gets whacked
07:27Mancow wins via pinfall. Jimmy even got a punch in the asshole after the bell which was totally uncalled
07:34for. Absolute shambles of a match right here. Mayhem was going so well until this bout took place and
07:40now I'm guessing the quality of this pay per view will go on a steady downward spiral. It happens with
07:45every pay per view from this company.
07:52Ric Flair wants to have a word with Sgt. AWOL so I'm guessing he will be replacing Mike Awesome
07:57later on. Thank you Ric, fucks sake. Canadian champion Lance Storm seen having a chat with
08:04Bam Bam Bigelow so looks like these two are forming an alliance. In the backstage promos continue with
08:09Kidman and Rey Mysterio saying they aren't worried about Chronic and Alex Wright, they're happy enough to
08:13go ahead with the 3 on 2 match. They also revealed that Conan got hurt because he was having too
08:18much
08:18fun with a few freaks and that's way too much information guys. I'm sorry he got herpes.
08:25Next up we got a hardcore three way dance, hardcore champion crowbar vs Reno in Big Vito. The natural
08:31born thrillers were concerned that they couldn't help Reno due to Ric Flair's no interference ruling
08:35earlier on, but in the end, someone else showed up that I honestly totally forgot about. When we went
08:40to the backstage area, Reno's sister Maria made an appearance and she tried to stop him from
08:45attacking Vito. The commentators aren't sure why she's helping Vito like this and we all assume
08:49they must have some sort of relationship, but this little discussion cost Reno the match,
08:54crowbar hit him with a steel chair and crowbar successfully defended his hardcore belt. I would go
08:59through all the spots of the match but you guys know the drill. You see one WCW hardcore match and
09:04you've seen them all. This show has 12, yes 12 matches and I'd rather put some time into the other
09:11bouts. We've seen all this kind of stuff before and all way too often. Later on, Ernest Miller takes
09:18on Shane Douglas and Naked says if he loses he'll kiss Shane's feet and leave the country for 30 days.
09:24The real star of this promo, however, was mean Gene Okerlund when he had a quick word with Miss Jones.
09:38That filthy animals vs Chronic and Alex Wright match is up next and yep, it played out exactly
09:43how you'd imagine it too. Bryan Adams brought a stopwatch with him to ensure Chronic didn't stay
09:48a second over their allotted time and Alex was smart enough to tag Adams in immediately in order for
09:53the boogie knights to get their money's worth. The timer will only tick down when Chronic are in the
09:57ring, by the way. Kidman tries a headlock, it gets easily countered, Billy comes back with a
10:03hurricanrana and when Adams went for a press slam, Billy Boy raked him in the eyes. This was a mistake
10:08because Kidman immediately took a full nelson slam. Alex thinks Kidman's easy pickings right now,
10:13Ray has to break Alex's cover but the big broadverse is happy to slap Kidman around in the corner.
10:18When Kidman fights back, the broadverse shrivels a little so it's time to tag in Clark,
10:22while Rey Mysterio also joins the match. Ray tries to bring it to his opponent, he performs a face
10:27buster followed by a springboard leg drop, he then gets a bit too confident though and another
10:31springboard attempt leads to Ray getting absolutely planted with a chokeslam. Time is running out,
10:37Adams checks his stopwatch while Clark pulls off a sit down powerbomb, Alex decides to stop Clark from
10:42performing the meltdown just so he can deliver a suplex and he tags Adams back in just so the big
10:47man can perform a big bout. From here, Alex is going to take over and he's going to try to
10:51take Mysterio
10:52out all on his own. He performs a clothesline and a spinning back kick, he had it all under control
10:57but then he decided to tag one of the Bryans in again. Chronic say time's up and the knights have
11:02wasted their seven and a half minutes, so the mercenaries have done their job and Alex is now
11:06all alone against Mysterio and Kidman. Even though Alex takes a dropkick right to his massive dong,
11:12followed by a bronco buster, he still gets up and performs an overhead throw on Mysterio.
11:17Unfortunately, Billy performs a BK bomb on our hero and the match ends with the animals performing
11:22the nutcracker. The boogie knights lose both the match and all their money at WCW mayhem.
11:28Not bad, the time stipulation made the match a bit more interesting but the outcome felt predictable.
11:37Tonight, DDP and Kevin Nash, known together as The Insiders, are taking on Chuck Palumbo and Sean
11:43Stasiak of the Natural Born thrillers. Mike Sanders says Ric Flair will not ruin tonight's show and Mike
11:48has a plan to overcome this no interference rule implemented by the Nature Boy. Booker T told Mean
11:54Gene that Big Papa Pump will have to kill him to take the WCW title away and this is right
11:58up Scotty's
11:59Valley. He reminds Mean Gene of the beating he gave Booker at Halloween Havoc and Scott says he's at
12:04his best when he's out of his mind. I fully agree.
12:08Ernest Miller vs Shane Douglas happened next. The cat promised to twist Shane's ass all over
12:13Milwaukee tonight and I'm not exactly sure how he could do such a thing but moments into the bout,
12:18we went to the outside for some shenanigans. This match came about because Shane delivered a
12:22backbreaker to Miss Jones on Nitro and once again, here at Mayhem, Shane puts his hand on Miller's valet.
12:28This leads to Shane taking a kick to the head and the cat goes out to continue the beatdown and
12:33Mark
12:33Madden finds himself in a bit of trouble when the two fight at the commentary table. Stevie Ray thought
12:37this was absolutely hilarious but Mark didn't find it funny at all. Ol' Ernie's had it in for Madden
12:43for quite some time now. Shane suplexes Miller back into the ring as Stevie continues to laugh his ass off.
12:49Tory chokes Ernest out at the ring ropes and Shane follows this by sinking his boot into Miller's neck.
12:54A neck wrench follows and the crowd try to get Miller back into it and the cat gets to his
12:58feet,
12:59he performs a little dance and he takes a knee right to the midsection. Miller takes an atomic
13:04drop, a butterfly suplex and another neck wrench. Shane tries a sunset flip and this is a move you
13:09don't try against Ernest Miller. The cat showboats a little and he gives fans another little dance
13:14and when the cat performs the feline, the commentators wonder why he doesn't go for the cover.
13:18Miss Jones has to help Ernest and she pushes him on top of Shane but Douglas kicks out at
13:23two and the match continues on. From here we get a fight between Miss Jones and Tory, Tory gets put
13:29in a chokehold and the referee has to break it up. While this is going on we can see the
13:33franchise has
13:34a chain wrapped around his fist and Miller takes a shot to the head which makes fans think the match
13:39is all over. Miller gets a foot on the ropes though and Shane can't believe it. Shane goes for a
13:44DDT but
13:44Miller holds onto the ropes. Miss Jones passes the ket as ruby slippers while Shane can catch the chain
13:49that Tory threw into the ring. One kick later and Miller wins via pinfall. And something that stuck
13:55out for me during this one was how tired Miller looked as the bout continued on. For sure it was
14:00the longest match Miller's had in quite some time and it definitely showed as the bout progressed,
14:05but he's still got enough energy in him to give fans a dance before heading back up the ramp.
14:09Nothing special about this match, but nothing really wrong with it either. Best word to describe it
14:14really would be typical.
14:20Someone's wrecked a bunch of Jeff Jarrett's guitars and these two grasses tell double j it was buff
14:26Bagwell. Loose lips sink ships guys, keep your mouth shut. General Rection and the MIA make it clear
14:31that Lance Storm, for all they care, can keep that turncoat major guns. Rection says this match against
14:37Storm's about two things, the general giving Lance a beating and the general getting his US title back.
14:44That match is coming up later on, but first, a video plays that says our world is about to change,
14:50again. The words blood runs colder shown on the screen as some kind of portal opens up while
14:55frost on the screen. Whatever this is, it's coming back to WCW and I can't wait to find out more
15:01next week.
15:03Bam Bam Bigelow comes out, he says Mike Awesome's been sent to the hospital, Bigelow has no opponent
15:09so he's declaring himself the winner via forfeit. Out comes Ric Flair and Ric says he has a suspicion
15:14that Bam Bam was involved in Awesome getting taken out, and I'm guessing Ric totally missed the footage
15:19of Bigelow whacking Awesome with a chair, but nonetheless, Sergeant AWOL's taking Mike's place,
15:24and what a shitty replacement this really is. Samoan dropped from Bam Bam Bigelow, kicks, punches,
15:30chokeholds and headbutts from AWOL. AWOL tries to follow a diving clothesline with a back suplex,
15:35but Bigelow shifts his weight and the wall, brother, gets squished. Bigelow misses his diving headbutt,
15:41AWOL counters the greetings from Asbury Park, Bam Bam gets put on the mat and Ginger Reff allows AWOL to
15:47bring a table into the ring, and Stevie Ray rightfully says no mention was made of this being an ODQ
15:52match.
15:52Shivani reminds Stevie about WCW's relaxed rules, but I thought one of Ric Flair's main goals as the
15:58new CEO was to put the wrestling back in WCW and restore some law and order. Doesn't matter anyway,
16:05because AWOL fails to put Bigelow through the wood. The MIA's muscle takes the greetings from Asbury
16:10Park and Bigelow wins via pinfall. Thank god for that. After the bell, Bam Bam seems unresponsive,
16:17he's not moving and the referee can't wake him up. Stevie Ray checks on Bigelow and he's still not moving,
16:22and Mark Madden wonders if WCW should really show this footage. EMTs come down, they put Bigelow on
16:29a stretcher. Remember though that Lance Storm had a discussion with Bigelow earlier on, so I smell
16:34shenanigans. Lance's match is coming up next, but first we hear from Buff Bagwell. He seems very
16:41happy with the destruction of Double J's guitars, and Mean Gene says Buff knows all about getting injured
16:46in the ring, just like Bam Bam Bigelow. Buff says this…
16:55Yeah, we all know how rough it can be going to hospital to get your dick fixed.
16:59In regards to The Chosen One, Buff has nothing to choose from tonight. He has no guitars and this
17:04means Buff has the advantage, I guess. I don't know, but one thing I know for certain is that this
17:09show has
17:10had way, way too many backstage cutaways and just on that note, there's also way too many matches.
17:16We could've easily cut out the last two matches and the hardcore match and nothing would've been lost.
17:25Lance Storm vs General Rexion's up next. The General beat Lance for the US title, Lance claimed it back
17:31while also claiming major guns, who has now fully embraced her inner Canadian, and Ric Flair said
17:36that tonight will be the last time these two ever face each other. Lance is competing with two crack
17:41ribs and a bulging disc in his back, apparently. Lance isn't complaining though because he took away
17:47the General's best friend and hacksaw Jim Duggan, he took his girl and major bops and he reclaimed his
17:53Canadian title. Lance wants old Canada played in the arena, this gets interrupted by Rexion who walks past
17:59Bam Bam Bigelow on a stretcher, and yep, Bigelow attacks Rexion before the bell, saw it coming a
18:04mile off. Rexion's been considerably weakened and when the officials pull Bam Bam away, Lance throws
18:09the General into the ring steps. This should be an easy victory for the Canadian champion so inside the
18:15ring he goes low on a dropkick before working over the challenger's knee. Major Gunn likes what she sees.
18:21Rexion's selling the leg pretty hard as Storm continues the beatdown, Lance rups the General's leg
18:26around the ring post a few times though Rexion kicks him away, but all Lance has to do is go
18:30low again
18:31on a dropkick and he's right back in the driver's seat. Inside the ring Storm goes for the maple leaf
18:36but Rexion makes it to the ropes. Lance then goes for a corner charge attack but he crotches himself
18:41in the ring post. You gotta take a step back and think about exactly what Lance was going for here,
18:46but anyway. Lance suffers more ball abuse at the hands of General Rexion and so Major Gunn has to
18:51help her man out. It's straight back to the left knee for Lance and Rexion gets put down with a
18:56suplex.
18:57Lance delivers a sweet superkick, Morris goes up for the moonsault but the Major once again helps
19:02out Lance. A back elbow puts Storm on the mat though and Rexion ends up pulling off the No
19:07Laughing matter for the pin and the win. The finish came out of nowhere and I'm not exactly sure why
19:12Major
19:13Gunn didn't help Lance again but this one was pretty disappointing after the buildup it was given.
19:18WCW wants viewers to look at General Rexion as this deserving champion who's busted his ass in the
19:23company and they wanted viewers to feel sympathy for him as the match played out, but on both fronts,
19:29it's simply not working. Mike Sanders tells Doug Dillinger to send his security squad home. This is
19:37apparently Mike's show and WCW no longer need these guys. More on this later. Jeff Jarrett vs Buff Bagwell took
19:44place next, Jarrett got in the ring and he struggled to say superstar. This again made Stevie Ray laugh and
19:56it seemed to throw Double J off a bit, it took him some time before he continued his promo. He
20:01had nothing
20:01to say really, he said he's still prepared for tonight even though he's had his guitar smashed, so here comes
20:07buff daddy and the first thing he's gonna do in this match is flip his opponent off. To be fair,
20:12it gets a good reaction. Old school Bagwell shenanigans follow as Buff gives his opponent a
20:17ticket to the gun show, Bagwell stays on offense with his swinging neckbreaker and Double J takes a
20:22Vader bomb. Jarrett gets hip tossed out of the ring and it's Double J taking a guitar shot, a foam
20:28guitar shot that looked like it really hurt. I still can't believe fans bought these back in the day,
20:32someone out there still has one in mint condition I'm sure. Jarrett gets choked out with some TV
20:38chord, Bagwell takes a low blow because he totally deserved it. Jeff doesn't have his guitars but
20:43he can still use a steel chair a few times. In after 3 chair shots, you'd think this one was
20:48all over,
20:48but no. I mentioned this before but chair shots are just as effective as a wrist lock in WCW these
20:54days.
20:54In the WWF, a chair shot can have serious implications but in WCW, they're just totally overused.
21:01In the ring, Double J performs a leapfrog teabag before Bagwell gets put in a sleeper hold,
21:06we go down to the mat and when Buff starts fighting back we can see loads of people leaving their
21:09seats
21:10or just walking around the arena. Toilet break time at WCW mayhem folks. Buff's sleeper gets countered
21:16with a back suplex, Jarrett's top rope move gets countered with a boot to the face, Bagwell begins
21:21firing up and he pulls off a double arm DDT, though when he goes for the blockbuster, Double J moves
21:26out
21:26of the way. Still, Buff Bagwell is not giving up just yet. He takes a few shots in the corner
21:31before coming back with a tornado DDT. When he doesn't get a three count, he takes it out on
21:36Slick Johnson, though this time Slick did absolutely nothing wrong. I know, I'm surprised too. What he
21:42did do wrong though was dander around the ring like a lost child and he got taken out by Jeff
21:47Jarrett,
21:47and this allows Double J to grab that chair as he looks to end the match. Who comes to Buff
21:52Bagwell's aid?
21:53None other than David Flair. Yeah, old Double J said he knocked up Stacey Keebler as a way to mess
21:59David around, so Flair Jr gets his revenge. Is this enough to end the match? No. Jarrett kicks out
22:05of Buff's cover, so Bagwell goes for the blockbuster once again, but Jarrett rolls through for a two count.
22:10So Bagwell performs a fall in reverse DDT, the match continues with Jeff flying out of the ring,
22:15and Jarrett produces a guitar from under the ring. This is so stupid. Bagwell takes a shot,
22:22Slick Johnson misses it, Double J wins via pinfall, and how dumb was it that the premise of this match
22:27was Bagwell destroying all of Jarrett's guitars, yet Jarrett's super secret backup plan was…
22:33another guitar? Why go through the hassle of showing the destroyed guitars if we're just going to use
22:38one anyway? Why am I so fucking worked up over a stupid gimmick guitar? Maybe that was the point,
22:44but it doesn't make it any better.
22:49Mike Sanders comes out to provide commentary for our next match, DDP and Kevin Nash, known together
22:55as the Insiders vs the perfect event for the WCW Tag Titles. DDP's just returned after a long break,
23:02Kevin Nash got screwed over by the thrillers while acting as their coach, and it was Sean Stasiak who set
23:07Kevin Nash up while also costing him the world title. DDP's also been busy dealing with the
23:13Battledome warriors, but tonight they aren't a factor. Now that I think about it, Kevin Nash
23:18probably just turned babyface again so he could form this tag team with Dallas. They're both good
23:22friends and at this point, Nash is just goofing around in WCW. He really stopped caring when Scott
23:28Hall got sent home. The other thrillers bring Palumbo and Stasiak to the ring. They're wearing WCW
23:34security shirts, so this is how Sanders got around Ric Flair's no interference rule. And just back to
23:41the subject of Scott Hall, the crowd are chanting we want Hall before Kev goes to work on Chucky P.
23:47Nash goes for the jackknife early, Palumbo rolls out of the ring, and it looks like Coach Nash taught
23:51the thrillers well, he taught them the art of wasting as much time as possible. We resume with Kev and
23:57Nash's
23:57corner offense, you know how this works. Kev then pulls off his corner clothesline, we see Snake Eyes from
24:03Big Sexy, and when Palumbo takes a leapfrog teabag, Stasiak gets in a cheap shot. Doesn't matter though
24:09because the perfect event gets sent out of the ring. The insiders then hold down the fort as the
24:14natural born security guards try to get in the ring and launch an attack. Ric Flair then shows up
24:19with Doug Dillinger to get rid of these guys, however, Mike Sanders applied for a manager's
24:24license before the match and he's allowed to stay at ringside. This is some incredible foresight from
24:30Mr. Above Average. So Mike goes the ringside as we get DDP and Stasiak in the ring, Sean gets knocked
24:36from pillar to post as Paige and Nash lay in their right hands, Stasiak replies with a DDT and a
24:41swinging neckbreaker, and Palumbo comes in for a double slingshot suplex. Paige comes back with a
24:47discus lariat, Palumbo puts Paige down with a superkick, Stasiak gets in the ring to get his butthole
24:52exposed and he makes Dallas pay for this with a clothesline. The remainder of the match consists of
24:57quick tags from the perfect event and Dallas finds himself in a tough spot. A front chancery from
25:02Stasiak lasts a pretty long time as does a sleeper hold from Palumbo, DDP counters and Chuck gets
25:08slammed to the mat, and when Kevin Nash tags in, that's pretty much all she wrote. Kev dishes out
25:13sidewalk slams and big boots to both of his opponents, DDP delivers a diamond cutter to Palumbo while Kev
25:19jackknifes Stasiak, Mike Sanders pulls the referee out of the ring and so Dallas hits him with a diamond
25:24cutter too, so Kev covers Shawn again and the insiders become WCW tag team champions. I was
25:31gonna go on a long spiel about Nash and DDP going over the younger guys and how WCW's fallen into
25:37the
25:37same old trap, but I'll just say the match was pretty boring though the crowd enjoyed it. I've
25:42seen better from all four men inside the ring. Lex Luger said on Nitro he wanted to end Goldberg's new
25:50streak because the original streak made a mockery of WCW and everyone who contributed to WCW's
25:56original success. Tonight's match between these two could have been for the world title if Goldberg
26:01didn't stick his nose in Lex's business on Nitro, so after running Pamela Paul's shockdown for absolutely
26:06no reason at all, Lex says tonight's match is gonna be nothing more than a big retirement party.
26:12Lex is, apparently, the Michael Jordan of pro wrestling, yeah that made me laugh too,
26:18and Goldberg has never faced someone like Lex Luger before. Only, yeah, these two have faced
26:24each other before. October 18th, 1999, Monday Nitro, Goldberg already beat him.
26:30Expectations are incredibly low here unfortunately, sorry I'm just being honest. We start off with Lex
26:36getting a rope break and when Goldberg takes a back suplex, he pops right back up, something that
26:40surprises Lex but surprises no one else really. Goldberg gets lured in for an eye poke, we see a clothesline
26:46from Flexy Lexy, Goldberg takes a few shots in the corner but he comes right back with some corner
26:51shots of his own. When Billy Boy tries a corner charge though, Lex gets the feed up and this
26:56results in Goldberg getting clotheslined out of the ring. Lex stays in control on the outside but
27:01back in the ring, Bill delivers a power slam. This gets followed with a ton of mounted punches and the
27:06referee tells Bill to ease up a little. Goldberg then lines up a spear, Lex pulls the referee in to
27:12take
27:12the bump, but Billy Boy just gets up and he hits Lex with a jackhammer. A second official dashes down
27:18and Goldberg wins a terribly mediocre match via pinfall. So what was the point of the first
27:23referee taking the spear? If Mickie J getting taken out had absolutely no effect in the immediate
27:28aftermath, why take him out in the first place? Nevermind, it doesn't matter, the match sucked.
27:38Well, consider me truly burnt the fuck out after 11 matches, but it's now time for our main event,
27:44a steel cage straight jacket match. We're using the cage heat structure tonight, whoever grabs the
27:50straight jacket can put it on their opponent and beat the hell out of them, but victory can only be
27:54obtained via pinfall or submission. I love that Booker T won the WCW Championship this year and WCW did
28:01take time to give Booker his moment in the spotlight, but I'm now ready for a Scottie Steiner World
28:05Championship run. The man's long overdue a run at the very top and as mentioned earlier,
28:10the promotional work for this pay-per-view, including the commercials and poster, makes you
28:15believe that this is going to be Scottie's night. The two start fighting outside the ring before
28:20Michael Buffer can finish his overly expensive ring announcements. Booker throws Steiner into the
28:25ring steps and he chases McDasia around the ring while Scott's main freak carries a lead pipe. In the ring,
28:30Scott turns it around, Booker gets pummeled in the corner, he takes a few hard chops,
28:35but Scott runs into a boot and Booker performs a Harlem sidekick. This, however, only gets a two count.
28:41The commentators are talking about Booker's newfound bad attitude as he goes for a suplex.
28:46This gets countered and Booker gets crotched on the top rope. On the outside, Booker gets thrown into
28:50the cage before the two get back in the ring and we see a Steiner line, an elbow drop and
28:55a backbreaker
28:56from Big Papa Pump. I also noticed just before the Steiner line that the middle rope is way too
29:01loose, not sure when or how this happened but it does affect a few other moves later on.
29:06More corner chops from Scott get followed up with a belly to belly, Booker stays in it but he gets
29:11stretched out on the mat, Booker then goes for the axe kick but Steiner's quick with a clothesline,
29:16and it should be noted here that fans are cheering for the big bad booty daddy. I think the fans
29:21in
29:21attendance are feeling the same way I am. Steiner performs a middle rope Samoan drop, he then applies
29:27a bear hug before putting Booker down with yet another clothesline. Here comes Booker firing up
29:32with a running forearm and a missile dropkick but it's going to take a lot more than that to keep
29:36Steiner down. So Booker decides it's time to get the straitjacket, he doesn't manage to reach it
29:42thanks to another Samoan drop. Scott does indeed grab the straitjacket but Booker wipes him out with
29:47an electric chair drop. So it's time to strap ol big papa pump up and end the match. Booker struggles
29:53to put the straitjacket on, he can't work out which way to do it, he does eventually get it on
29:57but for
29:58some reason he doesn't cross Scott's arms over. So basically, Scott sitting here with an uncomfortable
30:03garment on which is doing absolutely nothing to restrain him yet he still takes a few chair shots.
30:09This is so so stupid. Scott then tears the straitjacket apart so having it included in
30:15this match proves to be totally and utterly pointless. Booker gets turned inside out with
30:20yet another Steiner line and now it's time for the Steiner recliner. Booker survives for quite some
30:25time and he manages to lift Scotty up on his shoulders and big papa pump gets dropped on the
30:30top rope but he's going to completely no sell this. Booker takes an exploder, Scott jumps off the top
30:35rope but he ends up taking a bookend but Booker takes too long making the cover and Steiner kicks out
30:41of two. What follows is a flurry of Booker T offense with Scott taking a neckbreaker, a clothesline
30:46and the axe kick but Book can't put him away. Scott rolls over and Madeja passes him the steel chair
30:52that Booker introduced to the match and after taking a chair shot, a full nelson drop and another
30:57Steiner recliner, our match comes to an end. Booker T is out cold, he doesn't submit because he can't
31:04submit. So Scott Steiner finally becomes the WCW World Heavyweight Champion and the decision is a popular one.
31:10Mark Madden makes a great call when he says the inmate is now running the asylum and you can only
31:15imagine the headaches this is going to cause WCW CEO Ric Flair. After celebrating his victory,
31:22Steiner attacks Booker with a chair, he targets Booker's knee here and Stevie Ray doesn't intervene.
31:27Booker told his brother not to get involved no matter what happens so Stevie sits back while his brother
31:33gets destroyed inside the ring. It wasn't a terrible match but the whole straight jacket thing took me
31:38completely out of it. I'm just happy to see Scottie winning the world championship if I'm honest.
31:47This show started off so well but as expected it took a turn for the worse as the event progressed.
31:53Way too many matches here, way too many promos, too much unnecessary fluff and what you're left with
31:58is a show that slowly chips away at your very soul by the halfway point. The three-way dance tag
32:04team
32:04match was fantastic and I highly recommend you check that one out. Big Papa Pump fans will enjoy his
32:09championship win at the end of the show, Mike Sanders vs Queewey also took me by surprise even
32:15though it was riddled with interference but WCW Mayhem 2000 really does drag on. It takes a lot out of
32:21you
32:21by the time it's done. Just like Booker T, you're gonna leave a piece of yourself inside that ring.
32:27One more WCW pay per view to go in the year 2000 is finished guys. Starcade 2000 will be available
32:34next month but join me on Thursday nights so we can see the build up.
32:37Thanks for watching everyone, I apologise on WCW's behalf and please take care.
