00:00The death of a 73-year-old man identified as John Barron of no fixed place of abode is engaging
00:06the attention of police after he was found dead in a cycling track in the Chagaramas area on Thursday morning.
00:12TV6 News understands that officers of the Carinage Police Station in the vicinity of Coral Cove at around 6.30am.
00:19When police arrived, Barron was found lying in a grassy area. Police say appeared to have injuries to the right
00:25side of his body with a wound to his right eye.
00:27Police say they were looted after British National exercising along the track discovered the body.
00:33Investigators are treating the matter as a suspected fatal road traffic accident pending an outcome of the post-mortem examination.
00:41Meanwhile, a police officer in another manner in police custody following reports of gunfire in Longdenville.
00:46Investigators say they got a report around 5.50am on Thursday from a 28-year-old Longdenville resident
00:53who said that two men in a black turret at Axio had been seen in the area where loud explosions
00:58were heard.
00:59Officers later visited the area and found three spent shell casings and one live 9mm round of ammunition on the
01:06roadway.
01:07Investigators also saw damage to a window facing east, which appeared to have been caused by a projectile.
01:12Police said further information led officers to London Street, where additional loud explosions had reportedly been heard.
01:20Upon conducting checks, officers discovered six spent shell casings on the roadway.
01:25Investigators later located a Toyota Axio travelling along London Street.
01:29The vehicle was intercepted.
01:31The driver, police officer, attached to the Maracas St. Joseph Police Station
01:35and a male passenger were detained and taken to the Longdenville Police Post for questioning.
