Questions are being raised tonight over why Dominic and Genevieve Hadeed were not immediately released from prison yesterday after the Court of Appeal ordered their freedom yesterday afternoon. Their attorney, Faris Al-Rawi, says the delay was unjustified and appears to have been deliberate.

00:00Shortly after 3 p.m. yesterday, the Court of Appeal ordered the immediate release of Dominic and Genevieve Hadid from
00:07state custody.
00:08The order was served on prison officials and attorney Faris al-Rawi traveled to the Golden Grove prison expecting his
00:16clients to be released without delay.
00:18Instead, the Hadids remained behind bars for hours as prison officials said they had not received authorization to release them.
00:26Speaking outside the prison Thursday night, al-Rawi stressed that the court's order was clear.
00:32By immediate, I mean immediate. Those orders were served on the commission of prisons.
00:37And as you saw, I came here to attend upon the immediate release of our clients.
00:44Unfortunately, what happened was they just simply refused to release them.
00:49He said repeated attempts were made to contact officials.
00:52The attorneys at law for the Minister of Homeland Security, the Commission of Prisons, everyone.
00:59Suffice it to say that you saw the police come and go.
01:03And there were special branch officers that came here. They too were turned away.
01:06Although al-Rawi believes there was sufficient time to release his clients,
01:11he believes the stalling was due to the urgent hearing schedule for 8 p.m.
01:16that very night where the state's attorneys were seeking a stay of the order.
01:20If granted, this would reverse their release into house arrest.
01:24Instead, a temporary stay was granted until today's judgment.
01:28This meant although Dominic Hadid was captured by our cameras preparing for release,
01:34he and his wife remained at prison pending the outcome of today's hearing.
