Kidnapped businessman Derrick Tardieu is now free.
The 70-year-old was released in the early hours of yesterday morning, after more than a week in captivity.
However, there is still no confirmation on the whereabouts of his wife, who was abducted alongside him

00:00Police confirmed that around 1 a.m. yesterday, Derek Tardier was dropped off at an undisclosed location along the North Coast Road.
00:09He was immediately taken for medical treatment and is said to be recovering from what his family has described as a traumatic ordeal.
00:18In a statement issued through their attorney, Senior Counsel Leslie Ann Lucky Samaru, the family confirmed his release and asked for privacy as he continues to receive care.
00:29The statement said Tardier needs time to recover, and the family thanked the public for their support and prayers throughout the past week.
00:37Derek Tardier and his 47-year-old wife, Claribel, were kidnapped from their home on Monos Island off the coast of Shagaramas around 9 p.m. on December 6th after armed men reportedly ransacked the house.
00:51Up to last night, there was still no official word on whether Claribel Tardier has also been released.
00:57During the ordeal, a disturbing video circulated on social media showing the couple under threat.
01:03In the video, what appeared to be a firearm was pointed at Derek Tardier's head, while an object resembling a hand grenade was held close to his face.
01:13Tardier was heard pleading with his brother Robert as the kidnappers demanded a ransom of U.S. $2.5 million.
01:20Last week, relatives were provided with proof that the couple was still alive.
01:25A reduced ransom was reportedly agreed to on December 12th, though police have not confirmed whether any payment was made.
01:33Police Commissioner Alistair Guevaro has confirmed Tardier's release, saying investigations remain ongoing.
01:38In a statement, Guevara said the TTPS is unable to provide further details at this stage, but thank the public for its assistance and continued cooperation.
01:49Tardier remains at a medical facility where police say he is in stable and comfortable condition.
01:55Authorities continue to investigate the kidnapping, as concerns remain for the safety of his wife.
