00:00There's no boundaries anymore. There's no recipe.
00:02You just do whatever the fuck you want when you do it out of passion. Do you know what I
00:06mean?
00:11Hi, this is Mimi Box, and this is my band Charles and Monte Cologne.
00:15And these are five bands that are up and coming that we fuck with.
00:19Yeah, Tailgun is like a new wave of British heavy metal.
00:22I've known the guys for years. I just proper respect their work. They're like proper grind.
00:28Their first album, Guns For Hire, was just massive.
00:32So I'm buzzing to hear the second album. I know that will come up at some point.
00:36But yeah, they just fucking tore like there's no tomorrow.
00:40And they put on a wicked live show.
00:43Yeah, just fucking huge, huge band.
00:45And it's weird to have a band like that.
00:48That's so like 80s and 90s thrash power metal inspired.
00:53Like doing as much as they are today.
00:55So it's proper nice to see that as well.
00:58I got Raven on the new record.
01:00There's a stream trap.
01:02And I linked up with Raven over in Los Angeles.
01:07And we've been living together for a while.
01:09And then, you know, I got her to support me on tour because I just think her work is incredible.
01:15She's totally underrated for the quality of music that she puts out.
01:22You know, she is the artist.
01:25It's not like there is no separation between private person and the artist.
01:31It's like one and the same thing.
01:33And I respect that grind and I respect the passion and just the emotion that she puts into the tracks.
01:40House of Protection is quite a kind of big band, right?
01:45Yeah.
01:46Yeah.
01:47Very new.
01:49Very new.
01:50They've done one show so far.
01:51Oh yeah?
01:51Yeah.
01:52They did the LA show like last week.
01:54So they announced two shows, right?
01:55So one in LA, one at The Underworld and Canyon down the road.
02:00Sold both out straight away.
02:02That was the first show then?
02:03That was the first show in LA the other week.
02:04Yeah.
02:06But they've released a bunch of songs, haven't they?
02:07They've done like an EP already.
02:10It's massive.
02:11It just sounds huge.
02:12And then there's a, have you seen the music video?
02:15With the drums in the middle.
02:16And there's like the motorcycle like spin around.
02:19It's yeah, it's insane.
02:20Oh, like one of those death?
02:22Yeah, exactly.
02:23Yeah, one of them.
02:23And there's just a motorbike going around and he's just playing drums in the middle.
02:26It's so sick.
02:27I think that's a wicked project.
02:29Yeah.
02:29Yeah, I recently got into listening to them quite a lot.
02:32You know, when you find that one artist that you're obsessed with.
02:36Yeah.
02:36And that was house of protection for me.
02:39Yeah.
02:39And then you keep listening to only that thing.
02:42Do you know what I mean?
02:42And that is quite rare.
02:45Yeah.
02:45Do you know what I mean?
02:46I get annoyed quite easily listening to one artist and then I'm like, okay, I only
02:49want to listen to that.
02:53So, you know, like the mentality as a band, you know, the drummer, you probably know that,
02:58but the drummer used to be in Fever, Free Free Free Free.
03:00In Fever, yeah.
03:01Yeah.
03:02Night Verses as well.
03:03And I just like, you know, the mentality that they bring in terms of like, oh, yeah,
03:08we just want to do our own thing and, you know, want to create something that we 100,000
03:14percent relate to.
03:15Snakes are the boys.
03:16Like we met them at download last year.
03:21So not last download, the download before.
03:23We played, they were just gone after us and they were insane.
03:26They're like such good energy.
03:28Brighton boys, we've become good friends with them.
03:31Um, and they are for snakes, a bunch of ratty boys.
03:34Like they're so fun, proper, like UK political, hardcore ratty punk, you know, like you can't
03:42ask for more if you want to go to a show and just kind of once again, as we're talking
03:46about
03:46a lot of the stuff, like let that energy out that you're pissed off about shit, you know?
03:49Um, yeah, good boys.
03:52Stage presence is wicked with them because the way they set up is very weird.
03:58Like they just have the drums, but then Ollie, the bassist, he plays center stage with a mic
04:04and then, um, it's just, they're just free for all.
04:08Peng Shui, once again.
04:09The boys.
04:10Yeah.
04:11The boys.
04:11Yeah.
04:12We've played with them a bunch of times.
04:13They're so sick.
04:14Like amazing.
04:16They're like the most fucking seasoned band for a new band.
04:21Like they've been in so much shit.
04:23Like all of them do so much stuff.
04:25Like fatty is, uh, he has like sub motion orchestra.
04:29Uh, he's the bassist, uh, Dave Illaman.
04:32He is, um, he's, he's an MC, like one of the best fucking MCs out there.
04:36He's been doing a bunch of shit for so many people.
04:39Just done a tune with flux pavilion.
04:41Um, so if you like sort of like the heavy dub stuff, like he does a ton of that.
04:46Um, but, and Pravin, um, he is, uh, paths brother for foreign beggars.
04:52So they are like, they've been doing it for time.
04:55And then all of a sudden they were like, right, let's just make like this hardcore grind band.
04:59Like so fucking heavy.
05:00So sound best guys.
05:02And also, you know, on top of all of that, like just fucking good.
05:09See ya.
05:09Yeah.
05:16Whatever times if you need to happen.
