00:00Spend 24 hours with Metal Hammer in a place that many consider the most metal location
00:04in all of Europe. This is Helsinki in Finland, known for its dark winter landscapes, brutalist
00:11architecture and love for all things heavy metal. Did you know that Finland has the highest
00:15concentration of heavy metal bands per capita in the world, with Helsinki being the centre of that?
00:23So naturally our first stop is at Lebikalpa X, which is also known as Record Shop X. It is
00:27Finland's largest independent record store chain, founded in 1997. Inside you'll find all your
00:32favourite metal albums from across all the sub-genres of metal. Finnish people might be the most stylish
00:36people on the planet because all of their second hand thrift stores were full of band merch, plaid
00:43and leather, big black boots. One of the most iconic stores for alternative fashion in Helsinki in
00:48Finland is Morticia's, which has been around since 1998. Want a pint and good music? You can head to
00:53one of the many heavy metal or heavy metal adjacent bars. Before we went bar hopping we spent some
00:57time with Blind Channel and new metal Finnish icons who have just released their new album. Then we
01:01landed at the Riff, which is said to be one of the best metal bars in Helsinki. The walls of
01:04this place
01:05hold so much Finnish metal history, it is an absolute must visit. If you'd like some sobering activities
01:10the next day, there is a Museum of Punk History in Finland. Again, another museum that isn't entirely
01:15metal music related, but there is the Natural History Museum of Finland and it is full of skulls.
01:22just straight out of a death metal album cover.
01:25There is also a museum of fifteenimmers, which is known to European
