00:00They were like the big bands I sort of got into after my new metal foray.
00:04Well, after, I was still in it.
00:10Hey, I'm Justine from Employee to Serve and these are my favourite metal vocalists.
00:14Oh, my favourite ones. Who is my favourite?
00:18Jonathan Davies. I used to fancy him so much.
00:22Yeah, Life is Peachy record is like pretty much like sort of my introduction into metal
00:28and I love that record so much and like the vocals that he does on that album is like incredible.
00:37He's also so unique that you know exactly who he is when he's on a track,
00:43which I think is quite rare, especially when you're making growly noises.
00:47I mean, that was like, that was my childhood.
00:49I didn't have like family growing up who went into heavy metal,
00:52so I never got into like what I like to call the dad metal.
00:56So like Dio, Metallica, like Iron Maiden and stuff like that.
00:59I was like very much into new metal.
01:01And that was like my sort of foray into it.
01:04Number two, what are we talking about? Metal vocalists.
01:10I've got to say Courtney LaPlante.
01:13I think she's very cool.
01:15I like, I follow, this is really sad.
01:18I follow her Instagram page that fans made and they like map out all of her outfits
01:22and things like that and I love this.
01:25But vocally, I really like her because you can tell she's grown up with 2000s R&B
01:31and also metal, which is exactly like the kind of world I came up in.
01:40I think she's very versatile and she's got a lot of flair.
01:44And I really like that about her.
01:46I just like she's a woman as well.
01:47It's cool.
01:48Oh, Randy Bly from Lamb of God.
01:49I love all the early Lamb of God stuff and their latest stuff as well.
01:53But when I started doing vocals, I was very much into, God, what is it?
01:59Sacrament.
02:01That's the album I really liked.
02:07I like his sort of, I don't know what they call it, like Fry?
02:10I don't know.
02:11They're more like raspy vocals.
02:13I really like that.
02:14It wasn't too much of a jump for me going into that kind of stuff
02:17because I listened to a lot of like, yeah, Lamb of God, like Kill Switch
02:22because they were sort of just after Nu Metal, really.
02:27Bullet and Trivium.
02:30They were like the big bands I sort of got into after my Nu Metal foray.
02:34Well, after I was still in it.
02:37Amy Lee.
02:38She's awesome.
02:40I remember buying the Evanescence.
02:43Is it Fallen?
02:44I bought it in Woolworths back when that was a thing.
02:50And I just literally loved the back and forth you had
02:54because the other vocalist wasn't supposed to be on the song, I think, originally.
02:57It was very much, I think the label management sort of pushed it.
03:01And hey, what a hit.
03:03That's my favorite song to destroy in karaoke or at club nights.
03:08Chino from Deftones.
03:10Mainly because Deftones are probably one of my favorite bands in terms of like,
03:14the entire catalog like I love.
03:15I really like how, once again, he's very unique and you can always tell it's him on a track
03:20when he's like guesting or if you don't know who's playing.
03:27I also like the fact he seems quite, I don't know, I like the apathy between some of his singing
03:32and just like, yeah, just general style.
