11 July - National forecast presented by Jonathan Vautrey.

00:00Hello there.
00:01A very good afternoon to you.
00:02Whilst it's another hot and sunny day for some of us, there are others that have woken
00:06up to a quite peculiar sight, which is cloud in the sky.
00:09This earlier satellite image shows where we've seen low cloud pushing into eastern coastal
00:13regions this morning, and even some thundery rain clearing off Scotland as well.
00:17That will slip its way into parts of the Scottish borders, perhaps the far north of England,
00:22before it eventually decays away.
00:23But that cloud could well linger around some North Sea coastal regions, and combine that
00:28with the easterly breeze that's coming in off the North Sea, it's going to have a very
00:31different feel to things throughout the day here compared to where we have been of late.
00:35This is the temperature for today compared to average in July, and you'll notice around
00:41those eastern coastal regions actually feeling relatively fresh compared to where we have
00:45been.
00:46A stark contrast to western regions where we're going to hold on to that sunshine right throughout
00:50the day, and that heat wave is really going to be continuing here, highs into the low 30s
00:55peaking around 32, maybe 33 degrees Celsius for southern Wales and southwestern England.
01:00Mid-20s, very likely for parts of Northern Ireland, southwestern Scotland, where that cloud is thickest
01:05across other areas of Scotland, temperatures only around 15 or 16 degrees Celsius here.
01:11That cloud is likely to push further inland as we head into this overnight period, covering
01:17actually many regions spreading across the Midlands into western areas of England, eventually
01:21reaching parts of Wales as well. That will bring some drizzle over the higher ground regions,
01:26turning quite misty and murky in places as well. It's also going to be a reasonably warm night to
01:31come for most, many of our towns and cities holding up in the mid to high teens. Last night we
01:36saw a
01:37tropical night at Porthmadog in Wales, and there could be areas in the southwest that again, holding up
01:42quite close to 20 degrees Celsius to come, so another uncomfortable night for sleeping in places.
01:49Once that sunshine gets going into tomorrow though, the cloud will gradually break up,
01:54and certainly across England and Wales there will be plenty of amounts of sunshine developing here
01:58as well. Perhaps the odd shower just skirting the far southwest of England, and you'll notice
02:03the breeze really picking up throughout this weekend, but noticeably into Sunday around coastal regions of
02:08the English Channel, and actually chopping up the waves quite a bit if you are heading towards
02:12the beach here. Cloud persisting still across areas of Scotland, but less rain compared to
02:17Saturday, and that will allow temperatures just to climb up a little further, 17 to 21 degrees
02:21Celsius, again around the mid-20s for Northern Ireland. Again, only around 21, maybe 24 degrees
02:27Celsius along those eastern coastal regions where we still have that breeze coming in off the North Sea.
02:31Once again, the peak of the heat is going to be out towards the west with highs around 30 to
02:3631 degrees
02:37Celsius. So, shade down compared to those values on Saturday, but still very warm for the time of year.
02:44It all stays fine and settled into Sunday evening, and we hold on to a relatively similar theme as we
02:49head into the forthcoming week as well. We'll hold on to some cloud at times along those eastern
02:55coastal regions, but head further inland, particularly down towards the west, and that heat wave is likely
03:00to be continuing for many regions with 30 degrees Celsius quite possible on each day to come as we
03:06head throughout next week. You'll stay up to date with all the latest details, and we'll provide all of
03:11that on our social media channels as well as here on YouTube. So, do subscribe for that,
03:15and we'll see you again soon. Bye-bye.
