00:00Hello there.
00:01A very good afternoon to you.
00:03You may have hoped that a new month would bring in a new set of weather patterns for
00:07the UK, but unfortunately the dull and damp theme is set to continue.
00:12Low pressure remains in charge at the moment.
00:14It's out in the Atlantic and driving in this weather front into western regions, and it's
00:18already been bringing some outbreaks of rain first thing this morning, turning quite locally
00:22heavy in places.
00:24There's been a very few limited number of bright spells around in places, but the general
00:28theme throughout the second half of the weekend is for grey skies to persist.
00:32We'll see further areas of rain just spilling into parts of the northeast, and these will
00:37be accompanied by some quite strong winds, gale strength gusts around for the northern
00:41isles at times.
00:42Feeling relatively cool today, underneath those cloudy skies, temperatures generally peaking
00:47at around 6 to 9 degrees Celsius, but that's roughly where we'd expect those values to
00:52be at the start of February.
00:54This rain across central and southern regions could turn quite heavy for a time into this
00:59evening as it does continue its way eastwards.
01:02But generally further west, further far southwest of England, southern Wales, and more broadly
01:05into Northern Ireland, skies will be clearing just in time for sunset.
01:10But underneath those clear skies overnight and with light winds, temperatures will be taking
01:14a dip.
01:15So we'll see some frost, freezing fog, and also icy stretches across these western regions
01:19into the start of Monday morning.
01:22If you hold onto the cloud further east though, temperatures will be that shade higher, but
01:26still a little misty and murky in places as well.
01:30Generally first thing tomorrow morning, it's going to be western regions that have the greatest
01:33chance of seeing some slightly brighter spells to begin with, but most of us will be greeted
01:38by fairly grey and dull scenes as we do head to work.
01:41There's this area of rain that will just start to head towards the Isles of Scilly in the tip
01:44of Cornwall at around lunchtime, the breeze picking up into here, and those further areas
01:49of rain still continuing across the far northeast of Scotland.
01:52Again, some very strong winds here, and actually some relatively cold air will allow for some
01:57hill snow across the Grampians as well.
01:59Temperatures reasonably similar, 6 to 9 degrees Celsius, but feeling particularly fresh and
02:04quite cold if you are exposed to those very strong gusts of wind up towards the north and
02:09east.
02:10As we run into the day, this area of rain down towards the southwest will continue its journey
02:14northward, spreading further inland, and this could really start to exacerbate some of the
02:18impacts from flooding that we've seen in this region over recent days, so it's worth taking
02:23care and there is a rain warning in force here as we head throughout Monday into Tuesday.
02:28That band of rain will continue its way northward, so there's the chance of further wet weather
02:32on the cards for several of us as we head over the next few days, and generally that dull
02:36and damp theme is set to continue right throughout the week for many.
02:41Do stay up to date with all the warnings that could be issued over the course of this week.
02:45You can see all the latest updates on our app, as well as the website, and we'll see you
02:49again very soon. Bye-bye.
02:49Bye-bye.
02:50Bye-bye.
