26 July - national forecast presented by Jonathan Vautrey
Transcript
00:00Hello there, a very good afternoon to you.
00:03Mixed is probably a good word to describe this weekend.
00:06A few of us have seen some bright spells this morning, but there is a reasonable amount of cloud on the scene.
00:11And we've also seen these outbreaks of patchy rain and showers steadily pushing their way eastwards.
00:17Most of them have been on the light side so far, but as we head into this afternoon, some of them could start to turn heavy.
00:24Particularly across East Anglia, other areas of eastern England, a few hefty downpours are possible.
00:29Maybe with the odd rumble of thunder in there as well.
00:32Generally further towards the west, there will be a touch more sunshine developing in between the showers.
00:37And that will allow temperatures to see highs of 25, maybe locally 26 degrees Celsius.
00:42For parts of the West Midlands, down towards the West Country as well.
00:45More around 19 and 20 degrees Celsius for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:50Our showers in the southeast will gradually clear as we head into the evening and overnight periods.
00:55But we are going to see more rain arriving into northwestern Scotland and eventually Northern Ireland as well.
01:02It will turn quite breezy as this system moves in later on in the night as well.
01:07For most of us though, it will be mild.
01:09Temperatures holding up in double-digit figures in our towns and cities.
01:13But some rural spots could just drop into single figures.
01:16Particularly if you have any clear spells around across parts of England and Wales.
01:20It is though going to be a wet and damp start to the second half of the weekend across western Scotland.
01:26Some of that rain could be locally heavy and persistent for a time.
01:29Again, with the odd rumble of thunder possible.
01:32It will tend to break up into showers as we move throughout today.
01:35Spreading across parts of Northern Ireland.
01:37And a few showers will also develop across England and Wales as well.
01:41More cloud arounds though on Sunday for the bulk of the UK.
01:45And that will hold our temperatures back a little bit more compared to those values we're seeing today.
01:50So typically around 18 to 23 degrees Celsius.
01:53But that's pretty much average for this point in the year.
01:57Whilst a few of those showers will continue into Sunday evening.
02:00The general theme is that they will begin to ease off.
02:03And particularly as we head into Monday.
02:05That is looking like a day where more of us will be able to leave the umbrellas at home.
02:10Still some cloud around.
02:11But those bright and sunny spells poking through a touch more widely.
02:14But the umbrellas will probably back out again for the middle part of the week.
02:17As there's the chance of more showers to come.
02:20Though perhaps not any reliable rain for our gardens or allotments at this stage.
02:25We'll of course keep you up to date on everything that we can see over the next coming week.
02:31And so do subscribe to the YouTube channel for that.
02:34Otherwise we'll see you again very soon.
02:35Bye bye.
