00:00If the Browns are taking a quarterback, what percent chance do you believe in your heart
00:05if the Browns are taking a quarterback in 2027, it's in the first round?
00:14I'd say 75%.
00:16That's a very strong answer there.
00:18So let me ask you another question here.
00:21What are the chances that Brendan Soresby ends up in the first round in next year's regular draft?
00:30So considering that there's five, I would consider right now, but the season's got to be played.
00:35Things happen.
00:36Yeah.
00:37The goal is right now, though.
00:38So you're asking me, I'm going to say five.
00:40I'm going to say 50% chance he sneaks in at the end of the first round.
00:4550% chance.
00:47Wow.
00:47You got the five.
00:49And you said five.
00:50I thought you were going to say 5%.
00:51Okay.
00:52Well, then maybe we are talking about Brendan Soresby because I think that this is the end of the road,
00:56man.
00:56I got to tell you, because if we're taking a quarterback next year, we're taking him in the first round.
01:00I don't think he's a first-round quarterback next year.
01:02Unless this class flops like the 2026 class did.
01:07And you're right.
01:07They got to play this season.
01:08There were plenty of guys we thought were going to be first-rounders last year.
01:11I'm not going to call this draft generational, but it does seem to be there's going to be five guys
01:15taking in the first round.
01:16If the Browns are taking one of those guys, Brendan Soresby ain't one of them names.
01:19So in this city, it might be general interest.
01:23But in this city, I think the conversation about Brendan Soresby is done.
01:27It is in this city, I think, and it should be.
01:29We just don't need to go there.
01:31We already have enough trouble, you know, having bad things happen for us.
01:35And I'm not one of these, you know, believing bad things all the time.
01:38It is what it is.
01:39You choose your own fate, usually.
01:41But, you know, hey, we don't need any extra problems, potential.
01:45Let's just keep it.
01:46There's plenty of other options that we don't have to go here.
01:49Exactly.
01:50You only go there when you're forced to go there.
01:53We're not forced to go there at all, Ken.
01:55Exactly.
01:56And, Mike, thank you very much for the call.
01:58I appreciate you playing along with us there because I had to lead it to this.
02:02Field Yates, I know a lot of people roll their eyes at this.
02:04Field Yates on ESPN, he said the Browns have the most legitimate quarterback competition in all the NFL.
02:11He was the least likely quarterback in the NFL to complete a pass at or beyond the line of scrimmage
02:16last year.
02:17His completion percentage, well under expectation on those throws, hosting the second worst CPOE in the league.
02:24He was inaccurate on more than one of every five attempts.
02:28So, Field, Sanders is in a quarterback competition with Deshaun Watson for the starting job.
02:32Who do you think gives them the best chance to win?
02:34Well, I lean toward Chador Sanders more because we've seen him play most recently.
02:38What I would say, though, is this is the truest quarterback competition in the NFL.
02:43What I mean by that is whoever performs best in training camp should be the week one starter.
02:47There are other quarterback competitions where if you have a young quarterback and he narrowly outperforms the veteran quarterback in
02:54training camp,
02:55I still would lean on the veteran early in the season to alleviate some of the pressure on a young
03:00player.
03:00In Cleveland, whether it's Deshaun Watson, maybe even Dylan Gabriel,
03:05whichever one performs best in training camp should be on the field for that opening week.
03:09John left that beginning in there on purpose, apparently.
03:13Wow, what a setup.
03:15I'm sure that was a great clip.
03:17Audio courtesy ESPN.
03:18I was totally distracted by the amazing riffing that was going on.
03:23Sometimes, yeah, you need that.
03:25Did it not accentuate the point?
03:27It did.
03:27You need a montage sometimes.
03:29Yeah, what you guys say, I am anti-Chador.
03:32Go after that woman.
03:33Holy cow.
03:34I think that was Laura Rutledge.
03:36No, she, come on.
03:37Well, she was just reading the stats.
03:39She's not sitting there arguing against a guy like you do every day.
03:42She would never go that far in denigrating one football player.
03:47Even I don't go that far.
03:48That's not denigrating.
03:50She was giving the stats.
03:51Those were real numbers?
03:52He was that bad?
03:53Well, it's ESPN.
03:54I don't think it was fake numbers.
03:56Do you want to play the start of that again?
03:57I want to hear how bad those numbers are.
03:59Why are you playing the start of it again?
04:00Those were bad stats.
04:02Those were not real.
04:03Putting it on Kayla to play the start of it again.
04:05She had to have made those up.
04:06He was the least likely quarterback in the NFL to complete a pass at or beyond the line
04:11of scrimmage last year.
04:12Come on.
04:12His completion percentage, well under expectation on those throws.
04:16Posting the second worst CPOE in the league.
04:19That can't be.
04:19He was inaccurate on more than one of every five attempts.
04:22I don't believe it.
04:23Sanders is in a quarterback competition with Deshaun Watson for the starting job.
04:26Who do you think gives them the best chance to win?
04:28Leading the witness.
04:30Sorry, that's all right.
04:31That was leading the witness.
04:32John, is John up there?
04:34Yes, Ken.
04:35You did that on purpose.
04:37You knew Lima was going to get worked up, didn't you?
04:39You're absolutely right.
04:41That's fine.
04:42That's what good producers do.
04:43That was uncalled for.
04:44Lima did not know this was happening.
04:46She did not have to start that clip about a fair and balanced quarterback competition
04:51with all the negatives on Shador.
04:54I don't even know if those are real numbers.
04:56Are those real numbers?
04:59I remember to imagine something.
05:00She said it on the news on ESPN.
05:03I mean, I've referenced some numbers before.
05:05Why wouldn't those be real numbers?
05:06I just, that seemed to be very slanted negatively because those were all bad numbers.
05:09Well, they were positive.
05:11Why didn't she go with the good numbers?
05:12Like the dubs?
05:14Like the big wins?
05:16Well, maybe she said it later.
05:17I don't know.
05:20Why didn't she talk about the Tennessee throws?
05:22Well, this did not go where I was hoping to take it.
05:24He had those two good throws.
05:25Why didn't she?
05:26And the scrambles.
05:26You saw the scrambles?
05:29Put the scrambles in there.
05:31He was doing the scrambles.
05:35That is between you and ESPN.
05:37I don't like that.
05:38Shador fans, I understand where the hate has been coming from for the media because that
05:43is ridiculous.
05:45Oh my God.
05:46That is unfair.
05:47You know what?
05:49I've gone after the Shador fans for playing the victim card too much.
05:53He's the victim.
05:54And this was a one-sided takedown.
05:57Can I actually get to something of substance in five minutes?
06:00I want a correction or I want an apology.
06:03And you have to the end of this business day.
06:10Can I get to something more of substance in five minutes?
06:13What if Deion heard that?
06:14He should refuse to go on with ESPN.
06:17I'm with numbers.
06:19I'm with you guys.
06:20That's ridiculous.
06:20Would you stop being sarcastic for a second and speak about it legitimately?
06:25No?
06:26You're not going to do that for me?
06:27That's beyond the pale.
06:29Okay.
06:31All right.
06:32In five minutes.
06:34It's not what we want to happen, but it's still not a bad thing for Shador and the Bronx.
06:38Am I going to get serious commentary out of you?
06:40Yes, absolutely.
06:40Are you just going to do the whole thing going after it?
06:42I thought it was Laura Rutledge.
06:44I'm not sure who exactly it was.
06:47You know what?
06:48Are you going to go after the ESPN anchor or are you going to give me some serious analysis
06:52here to end the show?
06:52We'll go see you.
06:53That's just going to rub me the wrong way the rest of the day.
06:55You are an ass.
06:56A true craftsman of what you do to get people spun up.
07:01This is Slippery Wizard 101.
07:03Can we have the conversation without it devolving into garbage?
07:06Yeah.
07:06That's what this show needs.
07:07You will devolve it into garbage, I'm sure.
07:09Are you guys just going to do Homer Radio every single day here?
07:12Somebody said that you have dolphin teeth in the YouTube and you look like Jimmy Neutron
07:20to somebody.
07:23The comments said, we read you guys.
07:25I haven't looked at it in months.
07:27Oh, it's beautiful.
07:29But I looked it up right after the break and the first thing you read, a lot of ass dolphin
07:32teeth.
07:33These guys think I hate them.
07:34I love them.
07:35They are so much fun.
07:36He does love you.
07:36He really, really does.
07:38And by the way, always take your calls.
07:41Sometimes we feel bad when you have to wait a long time, but we always take your calls.
07:44No, there's two guys that say we don't.
07:46Jovan in San Antonio and Marcus in the Bay Area.
07:50Is it Marcus?
07:50They're a great caller.
07:51It's Maurice.
07:52Maurice.
07:52Put some respect on his name.
07:53Shut up, John.
07:54He's so nice to me every day.
07:55He calls in sometimes.
07:56Congratulations.
07:57He's nice to you.
07:58So I messed up his name.
08:00It's been a long show.
08:03John over there yelling, oh, I was Mr. New Jersey when it came to high school baseball.
08:08I mean, what the hell?
08:112-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-9-2.
08:14Throwing out the number.
08:18You want to get the mic in Wellington?
08:20Absolutely.
08:21What the hell?
08:21Mike, hello?
08:23Hi.
08:24Guys, I was listening.
08:26I'm out driving.
08:28It's a sunny day.
08:29A woman from ESPN comes on, and she quotes accurate numbers.
08:33At first, I'm surprised that Anthony, in his position, doesn't know they're accurate numbers.
08:38And then he defends and says, but what about those two good throws?
08:44And I thought to myself, oh, my God, what's next?
08:47He made the Pro Bowl?
08:50This is as bad as the quarterback situation is here.
08:54I kind of wish that we'd have gotten that kind of supplemental draft, because then we
08:59could have used our two first-round draft choices to maybe get a receiver out of Ohio State and
09:04somebody else for the defensive line.
09:06Mike, I'm not excited about either one of those guys winning.
09:10I don't think we've got a real NFL quarterback on the team yet.
09:14Mike, I understand you're being facetious about Lima's sarcasm.
09:18Oh, yeah, I am.
09:19That happened before, but it's funny how you put it.
09:22But it was funny to hear, but what about those two good throws?
09:27What stunk?
09:28What about the other 29?
09:30Wait.
09:31Now, hold on.
09:32Okay, so which quarterback would you rather see here, Mike?
09:36Yeah, what do you want to see?
09:37Dylan Gabriel?
09:37Well, here's it.
09:38No.
09:40Truthfully, Shadour, yeah, because I'll be honest with you.
09:46I quit my season tickets.
09:48I sold my season tickets when they traded for Deshaun Watson.
09:52I said, you're going to pay him a lot of money for who he is and what he's done, and
09:58none
09:58of it's going to be mine.
09:59See, I do think that that's the difference.
10:01Now, I don't know if that should be such a selling.
10:03If it were Kevin still as the head coach, I think it might be a selling point, Mike,
10:06and thank you for the call.
10:08New coach, it can't be a selling point.
10:10I heard Spencer yesterday bring up the sales job to the fans of which quarterback starts.
10:17I don't think Todd Munkin can really worry himself with that because I sit there and
10:20I think, what really is going to sell?
10:22Now, I don't think Shadour is making anybody give up their season tickets.
10:25I don't think he's making anybody buy season tickets.
10:28But when Spencer brings up, well, how are you going to sell this to the fans?
10:31What can you really sell to the fans this year?
10:34The sales job to the fans is 2027.
10:36Yeah.
10:37Right?
10:37Yeah, I mean, it's...
10:38The sale...
10:38You get to see Jared verse.
10:40I can't guarantee it.
10:41I mean, we'll have Mary Kay on it tomorrow at 820.
10:43And guys, I got to tell you, like, are we trending towards Ward not being here at the beginning
10:48of the season?
10:49Is it a foregone conclusion?
10:51Lima says it is.
10:52So, I no longer have Denzel Ward.
10:54I no longer have Miles Garrett.
10:55Now, I do believe that I would go to a football game to see Grant Delpit.
10:59I think a lot of you guys are laughing into your steering wheel right now as I say that.
11:02But I'm a football guy and I really like Grant Delpit.
11:04He's a really good football player.
11:06But there's not a real big sales job.
11:07So, if there's not a big sales job there, well, then may the best quarterback win.
11:12Now, I'd rather see Shadour Sanders.
11:14But it was weird because Jonathan said something.
11:16And I don't think it was actually a shot at us, the more I think about it.
11:19But what's best for Shadour?
11:21And Jonathan became a little bit of a klemped over it.
11:24Here's Jonathan on what's quote-unquote best for Shadour.
11:27If you start Shadour and then he struggles, where are you going?
11:31You know, like, yeah, you go to Deshaun.
11:32What's the end of Shadour in your Browns uniform?
11:35Nobody's happy about that.
11:36If you start with Deshaun and he struggles, then it's easier to set up like the guy that
11:41represents hope for your organization and be able to then sell that to people.
11:44And by the way, I only point that out.
11:46It's not something I endorse in any sort of way.
11:49I think it's the dumbest thing in the world, the people that are like,
11:51it's better for Shadour to come out of the gate second.
11:53No, it's not.
11:54It's better for him to start the whole season is what it's better for him to do.
11:57Start week one and don't lose the job and play 17 games.
12:00It's been since Baker Mayfield.
12:01It's been a long time since we've had a quarterback play 17 games in a Browns uniform.
12:05In a perfect world, I'm 100% in the same camp as you,
12:07where it's like just start Shadour and have him play all season
12:10and whatever happens, happens.
12:11You know what I mean?
12:12Like just live with the results.
12:13We all kind of, maybe not, I think most people understand what the season's really about
12:17and that it's kind of about setting the stage for 2027 to find whatever quarterback,
12:20if you don't have one, that you need.
12:23So I'd rather see that than waste any time with Deshaun.
12:25But I also can understand the logic behind it's easier to go to maybe the young guy
12:29rather than go back to the veteran that nobody really wants to see anyway.
12:33I don't think it's about what's best for Shadour as opposed to what's acceptable.
12:37What's best for Shadour is that he doesn't play just this season.
12:39He plays the next 15 years.
12:41That'd be amazing.
12:41And he goes to multiple, whatever Pro Bowls count for anymore.
12:44He's multiple time NFL top 100.
12:48Multiple time over.
12:49That's what should be the best for Shadour.
12:51We agree with Jonathan then.
12:52It's about what's acceptable.
12:55And I don't think it's the end all be all if he ends up not starting.
12:58And I would definitely keep him.
13:00You might, by the time you end up having your first home game in week three,
13:03Shadour may very well be the starter.
13:05I don't know what Deshaun Watson's going to do.
13:08I don't think it has to be a bad thing.
13:12It's not what's best for Shadour, certainly.
13:15But it's not such a bad thing.
13:18And then the sales job to the fans is, what are you going to do?
