00:12service. Call handlers took over 8,000 emergency calls in a single day, with more than 500 an hour
00:18at peak times. 688 were Category 1 emergencies, the most serious incidents including cardiac
00:26arrests. The Met Office has confirmed that the UK's hottest June day on record was last
00:32week, with 37.3 degrees recorded in Santon Downham in Suffolk, as heat records were broken on
00:38consecutive days. The critical incident was finally stood down, with NHS services remaining
00:44busy.
