00:00And this is what we've seen in the face of this terrible catastrophe that has affected La Guayra.
00:07We have seen the incredible solidarity of the people, more with our colleague Andrea
00:12Jaramero from the ground also. Let's go see our colleague Andrea Jaramero that is also on the
00:18ground this time in Caracas. We're looking, there's the walls cracked in the center, right in the
00:29center of this building. The infrastructure of this building has been completely damaged and cracked.
00:40There's several areas in here of commercial buildings or department buildings that have
00:46been damaged, right on the half. Third, second floor, you can see the cracks of the walls.
01:03We're gonna start talking with the people that live in this building to tell us a little bit
01:07about how was the experience in the moment of these earthquakes.
01:12I can see you still have all your clothes and good afternoon.
01:20I live here in the OPP 44. I managed to get some things out. We were allowed to
01:34get out and to take to family homes. The truth is the building has collapsed and there's a lot of
01:44damage
01:45and we're gonna stay outside depending on what the authorities told us. We were here with the community,
01:51with the mayor of Caracas, who was in the shelter that we were given for the rush of the moment.
02:02In the situation we are, they have to close the building completely because it's unhabitable.
02:09We can no longer go inside and out. But we are slowly getting things out of our homes.
02:18It was very hard. It was very ugly. It was really very, I don't know how to say it.
02:26We were so alone here. It was very unnerving with the situation we have here in this community.
02:36We are very blessed, poor Lord, because we're still here.
02:41That we're trying to, people don't, so people don't sneak inside. There hasn't been anybody injured, thanks to God.
02:58Right now in the service of the National Guard. We have, they have, we have gone inside the building,
03:04four people on a time. Somebody else goes inside and brings out clothes. Slowly we have go inside to take
03:14things. Now people that inhabit this building in San Mateen. According to the president of the National
03:26Assembly, 346 damage infrastructure works. And we are going to go inside this infrastructure,
03:35structure this building to see the damage. We can see the walls have been cracked. And we can see the
03:46debris falling around. We can see a part of the ceramic works in the facade of the building that has
03:54fallen down.
03:58We can see in the lobby of this building the visible cracks.
04:06And part of the roof of the building fell down. And part of the
04:13elevator area also fell. There's a big crack. Besides it's not safe to use an elevator in this
04:23in this situation. Even so when there has been several aftershocks after the main earthquakes.
04:32And so far as today as 25 of June.
04:41We're in the area San Martin in the residence in the main, in the center of the capital. We cannot
04:49access
04:51any of the apartments because everything is, because it's a rescue. It's dangerous to go inside,
05:00go forward inside the building. Like they were telling out the rescue was telling us before. Residents
05:07are coming inside the three on three because they're slowly managing to see how they get things.
05:18A lot of the internal infrastructure of the building has been damaged.
05:27We're looking at the images from this building in the residence of San Martin in Caracas, in the center of
05:34Caracas where unfortunately no one was hurt but the building was severely damaged and declared uninhabitable by the local authorities.
05:47It was an announcement that people would be evacuated and they were evacuated
05:54right before going live. And there were people that were moving mattresses
06:02and water bottles and people that are just in front of this building waiting to see what
06:12is going to happen and of course following the instruction of the local authorities.
06:20Let's see who's directing this kind of operation.
06:25So far there's no authority, no national authority or rescue crews directing these operations.
06:33Only the neighbors in an organized manner are going inside and retrieving their belongings.
06:41The people outside the camera were commenting that they're very afraid
06:45and people are still very hurt and nervous about this because of the constant aftershocks.
06:58But the national police was here but now there's no authority managing these evacuations or managing this.
07:07We had the deployment of the national Bolivarian guard but right now there's no one here
07:17that has been considered that 138 replicas have been going on.
07:28We have felt some of the aftershocks. One of the aftershocks was fell very strongly in Katia.
07:41There was an aftershock that was fell very strongly. A lot of people were telling us about their reporting minute
07:53to minute all the replicas that have been going on.
08:00Well there was a report from our colleague Andrea Romero on the ground who was telling us a bit of
08:07the aftermath of these
08:10two seismic activities that happened yesterday on June 24 on Wednesday that greatly damaged
08:18among other places the Venezuelan capital.
08:21I'm here to show you what is happening in Caracas and there's a lot of fake information
08:28but I'm trying to inform with responsibility and also with a lot of respect for the people
08:34that have been affected that for the first time have been affected through this kind of disaster.
08:45So we have been looking at the images from Caracas. This is the Venezuelan capital Caracas.
08:51And this is her colleague Andrea Romero,
08:57the Minister of Interior Justice and Peace.
09:01Josiah Cabello announced the code of the service and like this a lot of people have told us that
09:11they have been able to reach the family members and move to safe zones but outside this infrastructure
09:20that as we can see is in grave danger of collapsing.
09:27In the moment the walls crack
09:40and this is the exit and the main entrance. There's the lights are on and the sensors are still working
09:52but so far this is all we can show you from this building that is in San Martin.
10:05And there have been some cracks in the stairwells. We have
10:13great damages including cracks on the walls which makes these buildings very dangerous because an aftershock
10:20can end up disrupting this damage and this weakened infrastructure and therefore collapsing the building.
10:30Which is something that the Venezuelan authorities have reiterated a lot of that people must stay
10:35away from these kind of buildings that are in danger of collapsing.
10:44Yes, right in El ParaĆso this situation is very different than in San Martin.
10:48Because in El ParaĆso there's a building completely collapsing.
10:53And for hours the search and rescue teams have been trying to
10:57take rescue people. Over 12 people have been rescued from this building.
11:04In a few moments we're gonna go there to see how this search and rescue process is advancing.
11:12And there's a reinforcement from the Bolivarian National Guard that is helping remove these debris.
11:26There's two dogs were reported that have died in this building yesterday evening and one and
11:37in today morning another one. This is the only building in El ParaĆso that fell down that had collapsed.
11:46But it's still not safe the area. The neighbors are expecting and hoping that they can rescue more people alive.
11:54And they're bringing support and then uniting and highlighting their collaboration among them.
12:02So that there was our colleague Andrea.
12:06So, let's go ahead.
12:07All right.
