A 25-year-old youth collapsed and died of a suspected heart attack while playing shuttle badminton at Nagole Stadium, Hyderabad, on Sunday. The tragic moment was caught on CCTV, which shows the young man suddenly collapsing mid-game as fellow players rushed to his aid.
The deceased was identified as Gundla Rakesh, son of Gundla Venkateshwarlu, a former deputy sarpanch of Tallada in Khammam district. Rakesh was working in a private company in Hyderabad.
Despite being rushed to the hospital immediately, doctors declared him brought dead. Preliminary medical reports indicate he may have suffered a cardiac arrest during the game.
This incident has once again sparked concerns over the rising number of heart-related deaths among young people, especially during or after physical activity.
