00:00Home Run Derby is changing again. And now it is going back to an untimed system. Participants
00:07get 20 swings in the first round and 15 in the next two with a keep going until you miss
00:14rule
00:15if a batter homers on their last swing of the round. I do tend to think that this is better
00:21than the clock, George. It did feel like the clock was making guys swing out of their shoes for a
00:25while. I can't say that it affected them one way or the other at the end of Home Run Derby,
00:29but I do think that there'll be more drama with it and also good timing as Netflix takes over Home
00:35Run Derby for the first time. Yeah, I think you named sort of what the players were complaining
00:39about, right? They were swinging so hard, I guess more chance for injury there. So I like this as
00:44well. I think it makes sense here. I like that if you hit a home run your last ball, you
00:49can keep
00:49going until you don't hit a home run for your last down. So I think that makes sense as well.
00:53Listen, I'll watch it. I think it is a little played out. It's certainly long, you know, so I like
00:59watching it, you know, a little delayed so I can skip through the commercial and stuff
01:02like that. But hey, it's the only thing going on that week. So I'll still watch either way.
01:06But this is better than the other format, yes.
01:11What was it, George? What was the defining moment that made them change this to begin
01:16with? Like, what was, was it just like it took nine hours to get a champion? Or what, I mean,
01:21what was that final straw that now they're like, all right, we can go back to that? Because
01:27aren't we going to have the same problems we had when we made the changes to begin with?
01:33I imagine this is Netflix wanted it. They paid for it. So they're getting what they want.
01:37There you go.
01:38They can see all they want. We care about the players and their health. All right. We hear
01:41that from football. No, they don't. Okay. They really don't here. But Netflix, they paid
01:46the money. I'm sure they said, hey, we'll pay you this gazillion dollars, but we want this
01:49format, not that format. So I'm sure money had anything and everything to do with it.
