01:51Well, you'll need your umbrella today
01:54because it's a wet day
01:58And everyone here is busy going to work and school
02:06So, I wonder what adventures we'll get up to today?
02:10Go!
02:12Oh, I like this book
02:17Let's see
02:20Yes, this is my favourite nursery rhyme
02:24Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle
02:27The cow jumped over the moon
02:29The little dog laughed to see such fun
02:33And the dish ran away with the spoon
02:35Oh, I love that one
02:37It's just so daft
02:41Ah, there's the school bus
02:43I wonder who'll be coming to the Balamori nursery today?
02:47Hello Sinead

03:20The cat and the fiddle
03:21The cow jumped over the moon
03:24The little dog laughed to see such fun
03:27And the dish ran away with the spoon
03:29Did you like that one?
03:31It's really nice, isn't it?
03:34Ooh!
03:35Sounds like we have a visitor
03:39I wonder who it can be?
03:41I'll just go and see
03:42We can have a sec
03:47Hello Archie
03:48Hi Miss Hoody
03:49Hi kids
03:50Hello Archie
03:52So what brings you here?
03:54My latest invention
03:55Oh great, let's have a look
03:59Sorry to bother you, but I really wanted you to see this
04:05What is it exactly?
04:07It's a rhyme machine
04:09It's a rhyme machine
04:10Oh, well it looks good, but how does it work?
04:13Allow me to demonstrate
04:14Now in each of these slots there are words, okay?
04:18Now these words are all animal words
04:21Bat, pig and fox
04:24And these words, they're all doing words
04:27Like sat, jig, walks
04:30And then these words are all thing words
04:34Like mat, wig and socks
04:38And you call it a rhyme machine?
04:40Oh yes, sorry, I nearly forgot to explain the most important bit
04:42If you go down all the slots in one column
04:45They all rhyme, they all sound the same
04:48Oh, can I try?
04:51Okay, um, pig
04:54Ah, jig
04:56And wig
04:57There you go, pig, jig, wig
04:59You see, they all sound the same
05:00Great
05:02Now what do you do with them?
05:04Well, that's how I came to see you actually
05:06I'm not sure yet
05:08Pig, jig, wig
05:12What's so funny?
05:13A pig doing a jig
05:15In a wig?
05:20That's what the words made me think of
05:24You know Archie, this could be a story machine
05:27Really?
05:29Why don't you go and see Josie?
05:31She's coming to the nursery later to tell the children a story
05:33Oh, do you think she might be able to use my rhyme machine?
05:36Well, it might give her a few ideas
05:38Oh right, well I'll go and see Josie
05:40See you later Miss Hooley
05:42Bye Archie
05:44So, which coloured house do you think Archie will visit first today?
05:55Can you see all the different coloured houses sitting by the sea?
06:01Well, this part of the story in Palomarius
06:04Which is the house for me?
06:07Is it yellow?
06:09Is it pink?
06:10Is it orange?
06:12What do you think?
06:13Is it red, green, blue or white?
06:16Which coloured house do you think is right?
06:24Which coloured house are we going to?
06:27Tell me what do you think?
06:30Which coloured house are we going to?
06:32Tell me, what do you think?
06:35It's a yellow house!
06:37Yes, it's the yellow house, because that's where Josie Jump lives.
06:44Open! Sesame!
06:50Archie!
06:51Sorry, Josie, did I give you a fright?
06:53I was just looking through these plots, trying to think of a story to tell the children.
06:57Oh, I see. Aladdin and his lamp.
06:59That's the one.
07:01So, what have you been up to?
07:03I've invented a rhyming machine.
07:05Thought you might be interested.
07:08Oh, it looks great. How does it work?
07:20Well, if you go down a column, all the words rhyme.
07:24Look, pig, jig, wig.
07:27Miss Hoody laughed at that one.
07:29Kept thinking about a dancing pig in a wig.
07:32Well, can I have a go?
07:33Yes.
07:33Fox.
07:34Okay, erm...
07:37Fox.
07:38I like him.
07:40Walks.
07:48Oh, socks.
07:50The fox walks in his socks.
07:55Oh, the fox walks in his stripy socks.
08:00You've got the idea, Josie.
08:02Oh, Archie, this is fun, because it's daft and silly.
08:06In fact, you know...
08:08Fox walk socks,
08:10bat sat mat.
08:13Frog jog frog,
08:15snake bake cake.
08:17Yes, you see, they all rhyme, Josie.
08:19They all sound the same.
08:21Listen to this.
08:22Mr Fox walks in his socks.
08:27Mrs. Bat sat on her mat.
08:32Mr Frog likes to jog in the fog.
08:35Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit, ribbit, ribbit, ribbit.
08:40And Mrs Snake likes to bake cake.
08:47Fantastic.
08:48It's like a poem, isn't it?
08:51You know,
08:52if you put the poem to a tune,
08:53you can make up a song.
08:54A song?
08:56Oh, marvellous.
08:59How do I get a tune?
09:03There's one person I know
09:04who's brilliant at writing tunes.
09:06Of course.
09:09Spencer.
09:10If you need a little rhythm,
09:12call Spencer.
09:12Got a song you want to give him.
09:13Call me, call Spencer.
09:14We can start at the beginning,
09:16call Spencer.
09:16I can play you anything.
09:18If you need a little rhythm,
09:20call Spencer.
09:21Got a song you want to give him?
09:22Call me, call Spencer.
09:23We can start at the beginning,
09:24call Spencer.
09:25I can play you anything.
09:27So take a set of car keys,
09:29jingle them around.
09:31Now we're making music.
09:33Just listen to the sound.
09:36Take an empty tin can,
09:38beat it like a drum.
09:40Spencer's making music.
09:42And now we're having fun.
09:48If you need a little rhythm,
09:50call Spencer.
09:51Got a song you want to give him?
09:52Call me, call Spencer.
09:53We can start at the beginning,
09:54call Spencer.
09:55I can play you anything.
09:57If you need a little color,
09:59call Spencer.
09:59Got a picture needing pain?
10:01Call me, call Spencer.
10:01We can start at the beginning,
10:03call Spencer.
10:04Spencer.
10:04I can paint you anything.
10:06Banter for the trumpets,
10:08for flags upon the flagpole.
10:10Songs for in the bathtub,
10:12go swirling down the plughole.
10:14Rhythms for a dancing,
10:17mashing up potatoes.
10:19Easy flowing love songs,
10:21for singing to tomatoes.
10:39And now we're having fun.
10:41Let's go.
10:42Let's go.
10:50Let's go.
10:52Let's go.
10:55Now, a bit of a tweak.
10:59Hey, Spencer, are you changing a light bulb?
11:01No, tune in my ladder.
11:03Here, listen.
11:07Ah, I see what you mean, Spencer.
11:09Just a minute.
11:12So, what's the story in Balamori, Archie?
11:14Well, it all started this morning.
11:19I went to the nursery to show Miss Hooley my new invention.
11:22It's a rhyme machine.
11:24There are words which are animals, words which are doing words, and words which are things.
11:30When you take a word from each slot down the column, they all rhyme.
11:33They sound the same.
11:35Miss Hooley thought my machine might be a storytelling machine,
11:38which might help Josie Jum to think up a story to tell the children.
11:43Then Josie tried out my machine.
11:45She loved it, and thought the funny, silly story we made was quite like a poem.
11:50She suggested adding a tune to the poem, and making it a song.
11:54But we need a tune.
11:56So I was wondering if you could help me come up with a tune.
11:59Hmm.
11:59I need to hear these poems of yours.
12:04Ooh.
12:07All right.
12:09Uh.
12:10Fox, box, socks.
12:13Bat, set, mat.
12:16Frog, jog, fog.
12:19Snake, bake, cake.
12:21Hmm.
12:21I like the fox.
12:23Let me hear the poem.
12:25Mr. Fox walks in his socks.
12:28Mrs. Bat sat on the mat.
12:31Mr. Frog likes to jog in fog.
12:34And Mrs. Snake likes to bake a cake.
12:37Okay.
12:38Um.
12:39Do it again.
12:44Okay.
12:44Mr. Fox walks in his socks.
12:49Mrs. Bat sat on the mat.
12:52Mr. Frog likes to jog in fog.
12:55Mrs. Snake likes to bake a cake.
12:58Hey.
12:59Oh, that's brilliant, Spencer.
13:01Do you think it would work with other rhymes?
13:02Let's try.
13:04Um.
13:05Mr. Cat chat in his hat.
13:08Mrs. Duck chucks muck.
13:10Mrs. Fish wishes for a dish.
13:15Mr. Bear stares at my hair.
13:18That's brilliant.
13:19Okay.
13:20All right.
13:21Mr. Cat chats in his hat.
13:24Mrs. Duck chucks muck.
13:28Mrs. Fish wishes for a dish.
13:31Mr. Bear stares at my hair.
13:36Oh, that's excellent.
13:37This song is fun and daft.
13:39I love your rhyme machine, Archie.
13:41Oh, great.
13:41Um.
13:42Can I borrow this and take it to the nursery?
13:44Oh, sure.
13:45There you go.
13:46Great.
13:48Better be off to meet Josie.
13:50Thanks again for your help, Spencer.
13:51I'll see you soon.
13:51Okay.
13:52Okay.
13:53Mm, mm, mm, mm, mm.
13:55Mm, mm, mm, mm.
13:57Mm.
14:05Okay, everybody.
14:05This is Archie's rhyme, no song machine.
14:10Oh, a song machine? That's great.
14:13And we're going to be making a song with it.
14:16And you're going to start, Miss Hooley, by choosing some words.
14:19Oh, OK, then. Any...?
14:21Yes, choose a word.
14:22Choose a word, Hooley.
14:23I would like to pick the fox. Is that all right?
14:27Yeah. So we've got fox, walks, socks.
14:32So we could have Mr Fox walks in his socks.
14:39Socks, that's right.
14:40Some more Miss Hooley?
14:42Bat.
14:43It's a bat, sat, mat.
14:49Mrs Bat sat on the mat.
14:53On the mat, very good. So that's the second line of our song.
14:57Snake?
14:58Middle one.
14:59What's this one?
15:00Snake?
15:00Bake?
15:01Cake?
15:03Mrs Snake likes to bake a cake.
15:06And bake.
15:08Frog?
15:09Jog?
15:11Fog?
15:12Mr Frog likes to jog in fog.
15:15Yes!
15:17Mr Fox walks in his socks.
15:39Oh, that's lovely.
15:41Very good.
15:42Oh, that's lovely.
15:43Oh, that's lovely.
15:44Well done. I think we could maybe make up another one, do you think?
15:46Yes.
15:47Yes.
15:50Mr Pig takes his wig.
15:56Mr Bear stays at my hair.
16:02Mr Dog likes to jog some muck.
16:07Mr Dog likes to jog in fog.
16:13Yay!
16:27Oh, I must give this back to Archie to put in his song machine.
16:33I was just thinking about this pig doing a jig in his wig.
16:37Oh, it's very silly.
16:39In fact, it's been a really funny day in Balamori today.
16:43So, what was the story?
16:47Well…
16:50It all started this morning when Archie came to the nursery to show me his rhyme machine.
16:55The machine was filled with all sorts of words.
16:59When you took a word from each slot down the column, they rhymed or sounded the same.
17:04I thought the machine might be a silly storytelling machine which could help Josie jump to think up a crazy
17:10story to tell the children.
17:12When Josie tried out Archie's machine, she loved it and thought the silly funny stories were quite like poems.
17:20Josie suggested adding a tune to the poem to make a song.
17:24So Archie went to see Spencer, who's very good at making up tunes.
17:30Spencer made a tune for Archie using his xylophone.
17:34Spencer loved Archie's silly songs.
17:38Archie and Josie then came along to the nursery and we all used Archie's invention to make some very funny
17:44songs with the children.
17:45They made us all laugh.
17:51And that was the story in Balamori today.
17:54I'll need to put this pig somewhere safe.
17:57Let's see.
18:00Here we are.
18:01I'll put it in the piggy page.
18:03There we go.
18:04I won't forget that.
18:10And I'll see you very soon.
18:14Bye!
