02:09So, I wonder what adventures we'll get up to today?
02:14Oh, what's this?
02:17It's a tape measure
02:19You use it to measure how big or tall things are
02:26I wonder how tall I am
02:28Let's see
02:36I am
02:381 metre

03:57Do you know what?
03:59I think I heard a noise there
04:01I think it sounds like we have a visitor
04:06Just go and see who it is
04:11Hi, Archie
04:12Hello, Miss Hooley
04:13Hello
04:14Hi, Archie
04:16Just thought I'd pop in
04:18Oh, do you fancy some iced tea?
04:20Mmm
04:24What are the children up to today?
04:27That looks like fun
04:27Oh, yes
04:29They're drawn around their hands and feet
04:31Oh, hands and feet, eh?
04:33Yes, it's to see all the different shapes and sizes
04:36Ooh
04:37Look
04:38I'll show you
04:42Shapes and sizes
04:45There you go
04:46See?
04:47And if you were to draw round your hand
04:49It would make a bigger shape than mine
04:54Indeed it would
04:56Hang on
04:56This has just given me an idea
04:59It'll be my most fantastic invention yet
05:02Really?
05:03It will be
05:06A size-o-meter
05:07A size-o-meter?
05:08That's right
05:09Whenever you go shopping from now on
05:11You won't have to tell them how tall you are
05:12Or what shoe size you take
05:14Really?
05:15How are you going to do that?
05:16With some paper and pens
05:17I'll lend you a few
05:20That's very kind of you
05:22No problem, Archie
05:23Any time
05:25Right
05:27Thanks very much, Miss Hooley
05:28I'd better dash off
05:30I've got heaps of inventing to do
05:32All right, Archie
05:33I'll see you later
05:34Bye-bye
05:38So, which coloured house do you think Archie will visit first today?
05:44Can you see all the different coloured houses sitting by the sea?
05:50Well, this part of the story in Dalamorias which is the house for me?
05:56Is it yellow?
05:58Is it pink?
05:59Is it orange?
06:00What do you think?
06:02Is it red, green, blue or white?
06:04Which coloured house do you think is red?
06:13Which coloured house are we going to?
06:16Tell me what do you think?
06:18Which coloured house are we going to?
06:21Tell me what do you think?
06:25It's the pink house!
06:28Yes, it's the pink house
06:29Because that's where I live
06:34Hello, Nobby
06:35Back
06:37I have had a brilliant idea
06:40I'm going to make the world's first size-o-meter
06:43Now, I need some paper
06:47And a pen
06:51First of all
06:53I need to draw round my hand
06:57Ooh, it's a bit hard
06:59There we go
07:00There's one done
07:02Now the other hand
07:06Now, for my feet
07:08Here goes
07:13Well, that's rather good
07:17Now, I've just got to draw round my whole body
07:30Nobby, okay, you just hold still
07:31I should draw round my whole
07:35I should draw round my whole
07:36Ooh
07:43Finished
07:46Oh, that's marvellous
07:49Now, do you know what I have to do next to complete my size-o-meter?
07:53That's right, I've got to cut around the shapes I made
08:02Very good
08:03Looking good
08:05Very good
08:06Looking good
08:07Coming rather good at sniffing now
08:20There, finished
08:22The world's first size-o-meter
08:25Whenever I want to go along to a shop and buy a pair of gloves, or a pair of shoes,
08:30or a jumper, can I simply have to show the shopkeeper the hands or feet, or my body, you see?
08:38And they give me whatever I need from the right size
08:41Brilliant
08:47There we go
08:49It's in the bag
08:50Now, who should I show my new invention to?
08:55Of course
08:56Edie
08:57I'll show Edie my size-o-meter
09:08One hubcap mobile
09:09Hello, Edie
09:11Oh, hello, Archie
09:13Guess what I've got in this bag?
09:14Oh, I can't imagine
09:16Me?
09:17Oh, I think you're a bit too big to fit into that size of bag
09:21That's why I invented my size-o-meter
09:23Your, er, what-o-meter?
09:25My size-o-meter
09:26Oh, I think you're a bit too big to fit into that size of bag
09:27Let me show you
09:37I got the idea from the children at the nursery this morning
09:39They were drawing around their hands and feet and then cutting out the shapes
09:43I realized that if you drew around your whole self
09:45That would mean you had a shape that was exactly the same size as you are
09:49Then you could take it along to a shop, give it to the shopkeeper
09:52And he'd know exactly what size of jumper or shoes or gloves would fit you
09:57Yes?
09:58Imagine the time it would save
10:00You'd never have to go shopping again
10:01But, er, do you think your size-o-meter idea will work?
10:06Of course!
10:08I mean, maybe
10:12I don't know
10:13Perhaps we should ask somebody who knows all about shopping
10:16You know, they could maybe give you an idea whether your size-o-meter would work
10:21Who in Balamori knows all about buying and selling?
10:27Of course!
10:29Penny and Susie!
10:31I'm Susie Sweet
10:32I'm Penny Pocket
10:34We're pleased to help you
10:36We both run the village shop and cafe
10:40Hey!
10:40I can tell you things you'd never dream you'd ever know
10:46I can count your money up and see how far it goes
10:56I can do this and I can see that and we both just get along
11:01I can count these apples and I can tell you where they're from
11:07I can do this and I can see that and we both really are good shows
11:13Susie and Penny in the village shop
11:18If you're having difficulty counting anything
11:23Or if you'd like some chat, chat, chat
11:26Just give us a read
11:28If you fancy a treat, just pop along the street
11:31Come and visit, we'd love to see you
11:34We know more things between us too
11:37So if there's anything we can do
11:44I'm Susie Sweet
11:45I'm Penny Pocket
11:46We're pleased to help you
11:49We both run the village shop and cafe
11:53Hey!
11:54We have a laugh each day
11:55In the shop and cafe
11:59Wahey!
12:05Hello, Archie!
12:06What's the story in Ballamory?
12:08It's rather a big story today in Ballamory
12:10How big?
12:11Oh, very big!
12:12You see, it all started when I was at the nursery this morning
12:15And I saw Miss Hooley and the children drawing around their hands and feet
12:22The shapes they made were the same size as their hands and feet
12:27This gave me the idea to make a sizometer
12:31So I went home and drew around myself
12:34With some help from Knobby
12:36I called on Edie to show her my sizometer
12:39She liked it
12:40But she wasn't sure if it would work
12:43She suggested I speak to someone who knows all about buying and selling
12:49So here I am
12:51And it's always good to see you
12:53So what is this sizometer, Archie?
12:56Well, I'm glad you asked me that, Susie
12:59This is my sizometer
13:02And this
13:03So is this
13:05And also
13:08This
13:09All these bits make up my sizometer, you see
13:12And what are you supposed to do with them, Archie?
13:14See, what happens is, when I want to go along to a shop and buy some new gloves
13:18Or some new shoes or a new jumper
13:21What I do is give my sizometer to the shopkeeper
13:24And then he's able to give me exactly the right size of gloves or shoes or a jumper
13:31It's simple
13:32I see, but I'm not sure it'll work
13:35Neither am I
13:37Why?
13:38I was very careful when I drew around myself
13:40Well, I'm sure you were
13:42But there's more to buying shoes or clothes than getting the right size
13:47Is there?
13:47Yes
13:48How will a shopkeeper know what colour you'd like your new jumper to be just from looking at that paper
13:53shape?
13:54And how would someone in a shoe shop know what kind of shoe you want?
13:58Boots or trainers? High heels or flats or sandals or wellingtons?
14:04Hmm
14:05Listen, I'm taking my friend to the shop today, she needs some new shoes
14:09Why don't you come with us and see if your sizometer works?
14:12Could I?
14:13Of course you can
14:15Susie'll look after the shop while we're gone, won't you, Susie?
14:18Sure will
14:19Bye, you two
14:20Bye
14:26Good morning
14:26Hi there
14:27Looking for a pair of shoes for Kate
14:30What can we do for you, Archie?
14:32I'd like a pair of shoes too, please
14:33And a jumper
14:35Gloves
14:35Socks
14:36A hat
14:37Hang on a minute, Archie
14:39That'll take all day
14:41That's where you're wrong, Ellie
14:42Because I've got my size on it
14:44It'll take no time at all
14:46In fact, I'll race you
14:47Well, if you'd like to come with me, Archie
14:49Ally will look after Penny and Kate
14:55Right, let's get started
14:56I'd like to see a jumper, please
14:58Jumper?
14:59Right, let's see what we've got
15:01Ooh
15:01How would you like to try this one on?
15:03Oh, no, I don't need to try it on
15:05I've got a size on it
15:08Ba-ba-ba
15:09Uh-huh
15:10Right, the first thing we'll have to do is measure your feet then
15:15Now that's a size 13
15:17I'll just see what I've got in your size
15:18Uh, kid
15:22Are you sure you wouldn't like to try it on?
15:24Oh, no, no, no, no, no
15:26Uh, could I maybe try some gloves?
15:30Very smart
15:31Oh, very smart
15:32Do they feel comfortable?
15:33Let's see how they are
15:35Oh, yes, they're a good fit
15:45Welly boots
15:45Yeah, aren't you?
15:46Yeah, Arna, can I please try a pair of welly boots?
15:48Welly boots?
15:50Feeling comfortable?
15:52Yeah
15:52Yeah?
15:53Do you want to stand up on them?
15:56Oh, yes, they're good for them
16:08OK, then, we'll have the trainers in, please.
16:11OK, I'm just going to put them in a box.
16:14Well, that's us finished.
16:16How about you, Archie?
16:17Oh, dear.
16:18I'm afraid my sizeometer didn't work out as well as I expected.
16:21You really do need to try things on, Archie.
16:25Don't think I'll be needing this again.
16:29Oh, come on, Archie.
16:31Get up.
16:32It's just such a shame that my sizeometer doesn't work.
16:37Archie, look!
16:40Oh, that looks nice.
16:43What a fantastic idea.
16:46My sizeometer may not work, but it does make a wonderful picture.
16:50Don't you think?
16:57Oh, hello.
16:58Well, you're back from the shoe shop, I see.
17:01Archie had a very busy day, didn't he?
17:04So, what was the story in Ballamory?
17:07Well, when Archie saw the children drawing around their hands, he had an idea.
17:18He wanted to make a sizeometer.
17:21He went home and drew around his hands, his feet and his whole body.
17:29He cut out the shapes and took them to show Edie.
17:34Edie wasn't too sure that the sizeometer would work.
17:38So Archie took it to show Penny and Susie.
17:42He went with Penny to the shoe shop.
17:46They tried on lots of different shoes, but Archie found out that the sizeometer doesn't work.
17:54But it did make a lovely picture.
17:58And do you know what?
18:00I agree with him.
18:06So, that was the story in Ballamory today.
18:10Bye!
18:11Bye!
18:11Bye!
18:12Bye!
18:12Bye!
18:13Bye!
18:19Bye!
18:23Bye!
18:31Bye!
18:38Bye!
18:43Bye!
18:45Bye!
18:46Bye!
18:47Bye!
18:49Bye!
18:57What's the story of Balamori, who'd you like to know?
19:01What's the story of Balamori, tells where people go?
