00:26arrived in Argentina and reported serious incidents ordered by President Rodrigo Paz.
00:35Venezuela's Acting President, Elcio Rodriguez, led the signing of a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with General Electric,
00:41aimed at strengthening the country's energy sector.
00:50Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Lorena Fon, from the Telesur Studios in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:55We begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:16Washington and Tehran are making progress on a memorandum of understanding that is considered a victory for Iran,
01:23following weeks of tensions and crises triggered by United States and Israeli attacks against the country.
01:28The Iranian government has insisted that this is not an agreement, but rather the establishment of terms for negotiations over
01:35the next 60 days.
01:37However, the document makes it clear that Washington did not achieve the war objectives it initially declared,
01:42and is now negotiating with Anand Bid in Iran.
01:45Furthermore, President Donald Trump ordered the lifting of the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz,
01:49and at this time, Iranian ships are sailing with complete freedom.
01:54Tehran has secured more benefits in the agreement with Washington, as it includes sanctions relief,
01:59postpones controversial issues such as the nuclear matter or the reopening of the Strait under pre-war conditions,
02:06and imposes an end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon.
02:16However, the Iranian army has warned that any violation of the memorandum of understanding by the United States will be
02:22met with a quick response.
02:23The spokesperson for the Iranian army has stated that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic will systematically strengthen their
02:31defensive capacities
02:32during the implementation of the memorandum of understanding with the United States.
02:37In that regard, he warned that any violation will trigger an immediate and forceful return to the conditions preceding the
02:43agreement.
02:51Amid the conflict in the Middle East, more than 30 yeshiva leaders in Israel are begging a ceasefire,
02:57following orders to recruit students and women into the armored corps.
03:01Several rabbis signed a letter calling for a ceasefire in the region and expressing concern after facing an order from
03:08Israel's Supreme Court.
03:10They argued that enlisting their students in tank units is inappropriate.
03:15Despite attempts at mediation and dialogue with senior military commanders,
03:19the lack of agreement and the Israeli system's weak response led to an escalation of measures.
03:24The move has sparked controversy on both sides,
03:27but the rabbis stated that their students would continue to enlist in combat units.
03:39According to Luke Media reports, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that the Israeli military will not withdraw its troops
03:46from Lebanon.
03:47Katz also emphasized that the troops will remain indefinitely in what he described as a security zone in Syria, Lebanon
03:54and the Gaza Strip.
03:55In this regard, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a message to United States President Donald Trump,
04:02stressing that Israel does not recognize the agreement between the United States and Iran.
04:07Netanyahu added that he will not accept any Iranian dictates regarding the situation in Lebanon,
04:12affirming that Israel will continue to target military infrastructure and respond to any attacks.
04:23For this part, Palestine condemns Israel's violations of international law
04:28through a strategy of continuous demolition of homes and other structures in the occupied West Bank.
04:33The strategy seeks to arbitrarily displace Palestinian citizens from the occupied territory,
04:39including the city of Jerusalem as well as to consolidate Israel's progressive takeover in the region.
04:45Analysts assert that by early 2026, Israel carried out 102 demolition operations in the West Bank,
04:52demolishing at least 27 inhabited structures in April, increasing the number of displaced persons
04:58and exacerbating the humanitarian situation.
05:10Details have been revealed of the agreement between Tehran and Washington on the withdrawal of United States troops
05:16and the lifting of sanctions.
05:17According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, the terms of the agreement between the United States and Iran
05:23include the withdrawal of U.S. troops from areas near Iranian territory within 30 days of the signing of the
05:29final agreement,
05:30and the suspension of reciprocal actions.
05:33The measure also states that the U.S. government will lift sanctions against Iran once the agreement is finalized,
05:40while Iran commits to suspend all nuclear activities during a negotiation period of 60 days.
05:46Finally, it specifies the guarantee of sovereignty and respect for the territorial integrity of Lebanon.
06:05The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has reported over 1,000 killings of Sudanese civilians
06:12between January and May of 2026, attributing the deaths to the increase use of drones amid the ongoing armed conflict
06:19in Sudan.
06:20On Monday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volkertog stated that since the outbreak of war
06:25between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in April 2023,
06:30the conflict has intensified and military operations have escalated.
06:34He also warned that the conflict has been marked by widespread human rights violations and sexual violence.
06:43Despite the difficulty of obtaining and verifying information on the ground, the conflict is estimated to have killed at least
06:5459,000 people over three years.
06:56Additionally, millions have been displaced by the ongoing security crisis in the country.
07:08Mr. President, in Sudan, the horrific conflict has expanded and escalated, marked by a sharp increase in the use of
07:17drone warfare.
07:18Between January and May 26, our office documented more than 1,000 civilians killed by drone strikes.
07:26Rape and sexual violence are rampant.
07:30A powerful 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Indonesia on Tuesday, shaking parts of the country for more than a
07:38minute and triggering strong aftershocks.
07:40The quake was centered about 46 kilometers in the southeast of Palu, the capital central of Suwalesi province.
07:47According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake hit a depth of around 10 kilometers.
07:52As a contrary, more measuring 5.2 magnitude followed shortly afterward.
