00:34struck several energy facilities in Iranian territory.
00:42Welcome to From the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from EderzĂş Studios in Caracas, Venezuela. We continue with this news.
01:01Venezuela's Acting President Nelson Rodriguez reaffirmed on Monday the country's commitment to peace and political reconciliation as fundamental pillars of
01:09the revolutionary process.
01:10During a visit to the General Cemetery of the South in Caracas, the Acting President referred to their program for
01:17democratic coexistence and peace promoted by the Bolivarian Revolution.
01:21During the event at the cemetery, where tribute was paid to the martyrs and heroes who fell on January 3rd,
01:26she rejected any form of extremism or hate speech and emphasized that both the citizens and their political leadership share
01:34a common goal, the defense of sovereignty and national identity in the face of external threats.
01:45And in this context, the Acting President formally presented the comprehensive rehabilitation works of the General Cemetery of the South
01:52and the Santa Eduvilles sector in the Santa Rosalia Parish.
01:56These interventions are part of the strategic policies for the recovery of public spaces and essential services instructed by the
02:02National Executive.
02:03The work carried out at the General Cemetery of the South involved a multidisciplinary approach to ensure a dignified and
02:10safe place for families to say goodbye to their loved ones.
02:13Through these actions, the National Government reaffirms its commitment to the recovery of historical memory and to directly addressing the
02:23needs of parish communities.
02:28An extraordinary achievement, a great project that is being delivered to the people of Caracas.
02:37First the cemetery, a cemetery that has been restored through extraordinary efforts.
02:41I truly congratulate the sectoral vice president, the mayor, and Nahum, because it has been a project carried out jointly
02:48and coordinated between the national government, the regional and local governments, very important, and the work that has also been
02:55done for the Estrellas del Sur commune, where a direct path has been created toward the community of Santa Eduvilles,
03:03which in the past ran over the graves.
03:06Now they have a special passageway, and I truly congratulate us on being able to deliver this project, which in
03:12just six months has seen a major intervention, a restoration and homage to those who fell during the Caracas on
03:19February 27th to our martyrs, the streets of our martyrs.
03:27And in Venezuela, the vast majority of Venezuelans approve of the work of acting president Rodriguez. Let's take a look
03:32at the details.
03:33According to the latest Interlaces survey, 73% of Venezuelans believe that Venezuela's acting president Rodriguez has had a positive
03:41performance to date.
03:42Three out of four Venezuelans have a positive opinion of the work carried out by the acting president Rodriguez.
03:48These data reflect a climate of majority support, which is a key political asset marking the relationship between leadership, governability
03:56and citizen expectations.
03:57Meanwhile, 23% of the population believes that her management has been negative, while 4% did not express an
04:05opinion on the matter.
04:12And the Nuestro American international flotilla arrived in Cuba with essential supplies as part of aid to the Cuban people
04:19who have been affected by the U.S. blockade.
04:21The flotilla's load includes 73 solar panels intended for health centers, as well as basic foodstuffs, medicines and hygiene products.
04:28The vessel that arrived at the Havana Malecon was symbolically named Grandma 2.0 and set sail from Mexico with
04:35at least 32 activists from 11 countries seeking to provide support to the Cuban people.
04:40This initiative joins the efforts of Mexico and several European Union countries that have recently sent supplies to the country
04:46to mitigate the escalation of sanctions from Washington.
04:54And in Colombia, the death toll from an Air Force plane crash has risen to 66 and another 77 people
05:00were injured in the department of Putumayo.
05:03The incident occurred when a C-130 Hercules aircraft crashed while taking off from the Leguizamo in the Putumayo region
05:11of southwest Colombia.
05:13The figures were confirmed by local governor John Molina, who stated that 43 of the injured were transported to Bogota.
05:19In addition, he announced that so far another 21 people are missing.
05:23For his part, Colombian Defense Minister Pedro Arnulfo Sanchez expressed his condolences after the accident and noted that the plane
05:30was carrying public force troops.
05:39And data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection indicate that Mexican families led the migrant detentions in the
05:45United States in 2025.
05:47More than 39,000 families from this country were detained, surprising those from Venezuela, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and El Salvador.
05:54In total, Mexicans remain the largest national group in the migration records.
05:59This scenario is unfolding amid a tightening of the migration policy, with more operations and resources being allocated to border
06:06-controlled organizations for human rights.
06:09Warned that these measures have generated fear in migrant communities and, in some cases, the separation of families.
06:14Additionally, incidents related to grave human rights violations have been reported, including loss of life in custody of the border
06:21authorities.
06:27Let's now take our first break. We're going to be right back.
06:51Welcome back.
06:52The government of the far right, Jose Antonio Cast, in power for just two weeks, announced on Monday an unprecedented
06:58increase in fuel prices in Chile.
07:01Political and social organizations warned that the brutal adjustment will be paid for by the working class.
07:06Starting Thursday, March 26th, the price of 93 octane gasoline will increase by 370 pesos per liter, for nearly $3
07:13.41, while the price of diesel will reach 580 pesos per liter, for about $0.61.
07:20The Minister of Finance, Jorge Quiroz, justified the decision stating that the state mechanism for price stabilization, known as MEPCO,
07:29cost millions of pesos weekly.
07:32Organizations and some political parties have criticized the measure, arguing that it is irresponsible and will raise the prices of
07:38basic goods, affecting millions of Chileans to depend on their vehicles.
07:47And Hondurans and members of the Liberti and Ruiz Foundation party held a protest in front of the National Congress
07:53to oppose the impeachment proceedings against electoral council member Malon Ochoa.
07:57The protesters rejected the judicial crusade against Ochoa, which is being driven by groups aligned with the de facto government.
08:04In this context, the protesters are calling on lawmakers to stop the legal action.
08:09Furthermore, protesters also denounced the electoral fraud that took place on November 30th, 2025, and asserted that the sabotage was
08:15driven by the United States government.
08:25Justices of El Salvador's Supreme Court of Justice on Monday confirmed that criminal reform promoted by President Aguirre Bukele's government
08:31includes the possibility of imposing life sentences on minors.
08:35According to the proposed regulation, the measure applies only to cases of murder, rape, and membership in terrorist groups.
08:41The presiding judge of the criminal chamber, Alejandro Quinteros, emphasized that although minors may face this sentence, they will have
08:48the option to request a review of their sentence after 25 years.
08:51This reform includes modifications to various criminal laws that have been the subject of criticism from experts and the public.
09:04Meanwhile, social movements in El Salvador warn of the severe water crisis affecting the country.
09:09On the occasion of World Water Day, social organizations announced a serious situation.
09:14More than 60% of available water is contaminated, while 80% of the national territory suffers from water stress.
09:20This scenario means that more than half the population faces service deficiencies,
09:25and that 51% of homes have no direct connection to the drinking water network.
09:37This call to conserve water resources is particularly relevant in El Salvador, where the situation regarding this vital resource is
09:47becoming more serious by the day,
09:49and is putting the country on the edge of water stress due to the depletion of groundwater sources, and the
09:56contamination of surface water sources, including 95% of the rivers and streams.
10:04This is a matter of survival, not just for these territories, but for the entire population living in this country.
10:11For some, it will happen more quickly like the communities that are losing their rivers and facing pollution of their
10:17natural water sources,
10:18but in the long and medium term, it will affect the entire population.
10:23That is why we are here this morning joining this protest and warning the Salvadoran people,
10:28that if this government continues in this way, what it is doing is killing the Salvadoran people due to a
10:34lack of clean, safe, natural water.
10:42For remembrance, truth and justice, thousands of Argentines are beginning to take to the streets on Tuesday across the country
10:50to mark the 50th anniversary of the coup d'etat.
10:53The historic Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires is expected to become the focal point of massive marches.
10:59On the slogan, 50 years after the Genosado coup, the same plan, the same struggle, there are 30,000 human
11:05rights organizations,
11:06trade unions, federations, student organizations, social movements and progressive parties call for today's protest.
11:11The march takes on a particularly acute political dimension.
11:15President Javier Millet's government has defunded the team's driving trials for crimes against humanity,
11:21has dismantled public memory policies and ordered the euphemism of complete memory,
11:25has promoted a narrative that seeks to equate victims with perpetrators,
11:29while the surge by the families of the more than 30,000 disappeared people, whom their right has always sought
11:34to hide, remains unchanged.
11:42During the 1976 Argentine cemetery dictatorship, the repressive forces implemented state terrorism,
11:49the illegal and systematic appropriation of babies and children,
11:51these minors were children of detained and disappeared persons,
11:55either because they were born during their mother's captivity in clandestine detention centers,
12:00or because they were kidnapped along with their parents.
12:03Let's see more in the following material.
12:08Clandestine detention centers function as a central part of repression during the Argentine dictatorship.
12:15In these centers, clandestine maternities operated where pregnant detainees were kept alive until they gave birth.
12:23Some of the adopted boys and girls were handed directly to families of military personnel or people close to the
12:29regime.
12:34Human rights organizations estimate that around 500 boys and girls were victims of this appropriation plan between 1975 and 1980.
12:43This figure is upheld by grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo.
12:47On July 7, 2025, the location of grandchild 140 was announced.
12:53After 48 years of search and the case was made possible thanks to an anonymous report
12:58and the studies of the National Generic Data Bank.
13:04The struggle of grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo promoted the recognition of their right to identity as a fundamental human
13:10right.
13:11In Argentina, this right has had constitutional status since 1990.
13:17In 2011, in an emblematic trial, the existence of a systematic and widespread practice of abduction, retention and concealment of
13:25minors
13:25within the framework of the dictatorship's repressive plan was judicial proven.
13:33Let's now take our signal break. We're going to be right back.
14:03Welcome back.
14:04Iran continues its retaliatory actions against the military aggressions of the United States and Israel.
14:09Missiles launched from Iran-targeted areas of occupied Palestine, especially the Agamem neighborhood in Askelon,
14:15as well as power and oil facilities in the region.
14:18Iran also attacked concentrations of enemy soldiers in the territories under control of the Saunders regime.
14:22These strikes are part of Iran's right to self-defense in response to the joint U.S.-Israeli aggression against the
14:29Persian nation,
14:30which violates international law.
14:37Iran has launched a new wave of attacks against the Israeli occupation forces after Israel and the United States
14:43struck several energy facilities in Iranian territory.
14:45In this regard, the White House's announcement of an alleged ceasefire agreed upon with Iran
14:50was intended simply to temporarily stabilize oil prices.
14:54The drop was immediately reflected in the markets.
14:57Washington and Tabith attacked a gas plant and a regulation plant in Isfahan.
15:01In this context, the revolutionary forces launched a new wave of attacks against the Israeli occupation.
15:12And for the 23rd consecutive night, Iranians have been demonstrated in Mazandaran province, northern Iran,
15:18to reject U.S.-Israeli aggression.
15:20Demonstrators demanded a response for the assassination of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hamney,
15:25carried out during a U.S.-Israeli attack on February 28th.
15:28In this scenario, the protesters chant slogans against Washington and Tel Aviv in support of the Islamic Republic.
15:34According to national media, the marches have been replicated in several cities across the country
15:39amid the official 40-day mourning period.
15:42The people of Mazandaran declared their support for the country's leadership
15:46and armed forces taken to the streets and squares in large numbers.
15:55And the situation of children in Gaza has become increasingly atrocious and terrifying.
16:00Delegations made by the United Nations have been confirmed
16:03after it was revealed that Israeli soldiers tortured an 18-month-old baby.
16:07The little Karim was arrested with his father,
16:10and to obtain a confession, they burned his legs with a cigarette and inserted a nail in one of his
16:15feet.
16:16While obliging his father to watch, after 10 hours, the baby was released without his father
16:21thanks to the efforts of the Red Crescent and the United Nations.
16:24The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel,
16:29Francesca Albanese, presented a report concluding that torture has become a state policy in Israel.
16:34She announces that the genocide of regime exercises collective vengeance with destructive intent,
16:39and the world has given it a license to do so.
16:47In other topics, the Chinese government Special Envoy to the Middle East,
16:51returning from his tour of the region, held meetings with neighboring countries to discuss the situation in Iran
16:56and promote peace in the face of the illegal attacks by the United States and Israel.
17:00Now, Mr. Bruno Fossi has the details.
17:05Greetings, comrades.
17:07From Beijing, I came to report about the Chinese government Special Envoy for the Middle East,
17:14Xi Jinping, that has recently returned from his tour of the region,
17:19where he visits Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and Egypt,
17:27and noted the deep concerns of the previous countries before the conflict in Iran.
17:35Xi called this war a conflict that should never have occurred,
17:41and it's now clear that its cause are evident.
17:45The attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran that will be carried out without the authorization
17:55from the United Nations Security Council, which constitute a direct violation of the United Nations Charter
18:04and the international law.
18:07Furthermore, he warned that no country can use its military strength to attack another one,
18:15and that unilateral actions only worsen the crisis.
18:20During his meeting, Xi explained that the visit governments share a clear consensus.
18:29An immediate high fire is required, and to protect the civil population,
18:35and finally to guarantee the security of strategic infrastructure, such as the Strait of Hormuz, key to the global energy
18:46supply.
18:46They also coincide in the differences that must be resolved throughout dialogue and negotiations,
18:54and highlight the value of the Chinese diplomatic mediation in disescalating the crisis.
19:01China reaffirms its role as a mediator and warns that the only viable solution is the diplomatic route.
19:11With the war that continues, the towns of the Middle East and the population will be the ones who will
19:19be paid the most serious consequence.
19:23With this news from here, Beijing, we go back with you in the studios.
19:32Thank you, Bruno. Let's now continue with other news.
19:51In Indonesia, the population celebrates the traditional Hot Air Balloon Festival 2026. Let's see more.
19:59In the district of Wonosobo, Central Java Province, Indonesia, dozens of hot air balloons are prepared and launched into the
20:08sky during an annual festival that focuses on the release of this non-propel aircraft.
20:17The event is part of the 2026 reunion festival where local authorities promote cultural tourism in the region.
20:30The event, which runs until next March 29, coincides with the Aid al-Fatir festivities, marking the end of the
20:37holy month of Ramadan.
20:38So participants also celebrate the conclusion of this month of Muslim fasting.
20:44In some places, the activities even include flights with colorful balloons for more than one day, with the aim of
20:50giving tourists the opportunity to enjoy it.
20:58As these are enormous balloons, participants secure each one with strong ropes anchored to the ground in order to prevent
21:05them upon liftoff from drifting uncontrollably from side to side or into nature.
21:14Moreover, being an activity that promotes culture and in turn tourism, thousands of visitors attend the festival each year to
21:21enjoy the majesty of this non-propel aircraft.
21:26Also allowing for the exploration of other destinations in the area, and the charm of its villages with natural landscapes.
