00:00So Patrick Mahomes just got a brand new contract extension, and they reworked the deal here in Kansas City for
00:07a guy who's coming off of a knee injury.
00:10And what did they do?
00:12His contract is now valued at $529 million.
00:18They gave him an additional $150 million, which now pays him an annual salary of $63 million.
00:27Do you know what he had fallen out of the top 10 highest-paid quarterbacks in pro football?
00:33You're looking at a guy here that took the Kansas City Chiefs seven straight years to the AFC Championship, and
00:39inside that time frame, went to five Super Bowls, won three of them, and has three most valuable player awards
00:48in that game.
00:49And you're talking about a generational player.
00:52Look, Brady is the man when it comes to all the numbers when you see 35 postees and victories.
00:59How about what Mahomes is doing?
01:00He's a generational talent.
01:02Look, if you're going to start a football player, and you're going to put a football player together, and you're
01:07going to make one guy that you want to have build a team around, that player is Mahomes.
01:14He covers all issues.
01:16Have you ever seen anything like this?
01:19So you get rid of Tyreek Hill, who three years ago was voted by the players as the best player
01:26in the National Football League, and then they get rid of him, and the Chiefs go on to win two
01:31Super Bowls with dudes named Juju Smith-Schuster.
01:35He elevates people around him.
01:37He doesn't have to have Devontae Smith or an A.J. Brown in his huddle.
01:42He doesn't have to have all these superstar wide receivers like Jamar Chase.
01:47That is the value of Patrick Mahomes.
01:51Look at what he does for Brett Veach, the general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs.
01:55You could build your football team and build a roster around a quarterback who's generational because he covers your weaknesses,
02:03and he covers some of the places on your football team that are not strong.
02:08You lose an old lineman, Mahomes gets rid of the ball quick.
02:11You don't have a star wide receiver or an aging tight end like Travis Swift.
02:17You could sit there and get around all of that.
02:20I say Travis Swift because I'm hearing he's changing his name when it comes to the wedding coming up this
02:24summer.
02:25So I'm assuming it's not Travis Kelsey any longer.
02:28It's now officially Travis Swift.
02:30You get my drift here.
02:31We're talking about a football player that covers all issues.
02:36We have never seen a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes in the history of the National Football League when it comes
02:42to skill set.
02:43Now, will he fulfill his destiny?
02:46And that is to do the things that Tom Brady did by winning seven NFL Super Bowls.
02:51We shall see.
02:53Still a lot of football to be played.
02:54And with a guy like Andy Reid and Brett Veach, the general manager, Kansas City, I'm assuming, are going to
03:00bounce right back and be in the mix to contend for another Super Bowl.
03:05You know, Jimmy Johnson told me this about three years ago about Mahomes.
03:09He's the most untradeable guy I've ever seen play in the National Football League.
03:14If you were to put Patrick Mahomes on the open market right now, what would you get back in return?
03:20You just gave the guy $63 million annually.
03:25You gave him a contract of a half a billion dollars because of his skill set coming off of an
03:32injury.
03:33And you're looking at him saying, I don't have any issues.
03:36Mahomes is a magician, and he really is.
03:40He's a guy that you build your franchise around.
03:43John Elway is another player that you could go back in NFL history.
03:46Or if you want to go back with one of the greatest gunslingers in the history of the league in
03:51Dan Marino.
03:52But I've never seen a guy with a combination of Steve Young's wheels and Joe Montana, his brain, and also
04:00the arm and the actions that you see here with Dan Marino.
04:05Now, Patrick Mahomes is a different, he's a different dude.
04:09We've never seen a guy like Mahomes in the history of the National Football League.
04:14He is by far the most untradeable player I've ever seen.
04:18And Kansas City saw that and gave him the additional $150 million, and they gave it almost all in guarantees.
04:26There's been no quarterback in NFL history that has done the things that he has done with less.
04:33Now, you go and you look at Brady, Edelman, Amendola, I get it.
04:37You're talking about fulfilling your destiny now.
04:40Jimmy Johnson, as I said, told us, you could not put that guy on the open market right now
04:45and not get five first-round draft choices back for this player.
04:49And Kansas City knows what they have in Patrick Mahomes.
04:53Best quarterback we have seen, and again, it goes back to the line, Jack Nicklaus is the most accomplished, like
05:00Brady.
05:01The most accomplished player and quarterback.
05:03The most gifted golfer is Woods.
05:06The most gifted player that we've seen is Mahomes.
05:10Make no mistake about it, Patrick Mahomes will have the Kansas City Chiefs back in a contention site
05:15for them to be able to go on and win another NFL championship.
05:19Can you imagine if he goes on and ties the things and does the things that Tom Brady will do
05:24and has done, I should say, winning those seven NFL championships
05:27and 35 playoff victories and every single record under the sun?
05:31We'll see you next time.
05:31Bye-bye.
