00:05I'm going to put this in context for you too, Jacob.
00:07I mean, if you remember right,
00:08there was a 10 year gap for Tom Brady on winning a Superbowl from the first
00:13couple of guys from the first couple of games and Superbowl said he won to the
00:16back end.
00:17Are we going to see something like that again,
00:19where you're going to see Brett Vietz,
00:21the general manager retooling this team.
00:22And do you think they're back in the picture here with Patrick Mahomes in 26?
00:28I think there'll be back in the picture, Dan.
00:30I just can't imagine, you know,
00:32after the career worst season that the,
00:34that Mahomes and the chiefs had just from a wins loss perspective.
00:38I mean, Andy Reed hadn't had a losing season with the chiefs,
00:40I think until last year, and they hadn't missed the playoff since 2014.
00:43So I have trouble imagining them not being in the playoff picture,
00:47but this roster does have some holes, you know,
00:49you look at the Rasheed Rice situation and you say to yourself, man,
00:53if he gets suspended again, while he's dealing with that legal stuff,
00:56they're really thin at receiver,
00:57but I like that they added Kenneth Walker to sort of help Patrick Mahomes and
01:01just say, Hey, while you're coming back from this knee injury,
01:05while you're out there, you can lean on Kenneth Walker.
01:07We saw during the Superbowl run for the Seahawks that Walker can be a true
01:11workhorse.
01:12So I think that was smart just to give Mahomes that kind of guy to lean on
01:16early during his time.
01:17And what I'm expecting from him, Dan,
01:19is I think we're going to see him do really well from the pocket.
01:21I think we're going to see a little bit less of the scrambling around type
01:25stuff he's done at least early in the season while he's getting his legs back
01:28under him.
01:29Cause he tore that ACL late in the season.
01:31So if he's even able to get back on the field for week one,
01:35that would be a pretty quick recovery.
01:37And I think that's his ultimate goal.
01:38And he knowing him, he'll be able to do it.
01:40I mean,
01:40he had that ankle sprain one year that was supposed to knock him out for like
01:43four weeks and he played the next week.
01:45So that's the kind of guy Patrick Mahomes is now.
01:47I don't think he's going to have his best season this year,
01:50because again,
01:50I think they're going to lean on the run early in the season.
01:52And I don't think he's going to be running around as much,
01:55but you just can't keep guys like Patrick Mahomes down long.
01:58And I think there's going to be a chip on his shoulder to sort of prove
02:01like, Hey, last year was a fluke.
02:02The chiefs are still super bowl contenders,
02:04but we'll see if that actually develops.
02:07Do you agree then with all what you're saying there on maybe him being
02:10a limited early part of the season?
02:13Could that maybe make Brett Veach,
02:15the general manager,
02:15maybe be an outlier and a wild card in his AJ Brown kind of trade on
02:20Monday.
02:21I mean,
02:21if we're talking about rice being in a situation and he's in and they're
02:25thin at wide receiver,
02:26is this something now that you have to start thinking about adding more to
02:29the,
02:30the tool chest here for Patrick Mahomes and maybe AJ Brown,
02:34that's a spot for him also.
02:37I think you hit the nail on the head there,

02:39I think you look at teams that could swoop in late in this AJ Brown
02:42sweepstakes.
02:43I think the chiefs because they're thin at receiver could absolutely
02:46consider something like that.
02:48I know the Rams and chargers have also been mentioned at times,
02:50the Rams,
02:51probably a little difficult to make AJ Brown work with Devante Adams and
02:55Puka Nakua.
02:56Just that's a lot of resources to spend there.
02:58But I think if you look at the chiefs,
03:00that would be the team I would say,
03:01Hey,
03:01they could really challenge the Patriots if they just say and decide,
03:05Hey,
03:05we need another receiver.
03:06We got to go get a great guy out there like AJ Brown to just give us
03:10insurance in case something goes wrong with Rashi rice.
03:12I think also they could look,
03:14there's a lot of good veteran receivers still out there.
03:17One guy that I would be interested in if I'm the chiefs is Debo Samuel.
03:21He just kind of gives you,
03:22he doesn't,
03:22he's not as explosive as Rashi rice maybe,
03:26but he can do a lot of the similar things kind of over the middle of the
03:28field.
03:29And he gives you another running game weapon because he can operate kind of
03:32as like a halfback or a receiving back out of the backfield.
03:35I think that could be a good thing to have with Patrick Mahomes and Kenneth
03:39Walker there,
03:41just as Mahomes comes back from the injury.
03:43I think the more you can surround Mahomes with talent,
03:46the better off you will be,
03:47especially when he comes back from that injury.
