00:00Patrick Mahomes signs a massive two-year extension with the Kansas City Chiefs.
00:05That takes them through the 2033 season.
00:07You don't care about 2032 and 2033.
00:10The reason they did that was it added the AAV to $64 million.
00:15So what this was really about was Kansas City Chiefs,
00:18who have known that the last couple of years they have not done right by Patrick Mahomes,
00:22not financially because they have done right by him there, with the supporting cast.
00:26He has not had a great offensive line.
00:27They have not done a great job with his receiving core.
00:31They have not made the right moves.
00:32And as Kelsey ages, even his blanket, the guy that he always had to rely on,
00:39hasn't been as reliable.
00:40So this is a way, number one, to say we recognize we have it done right by you.
00:44We ended up, I'm not going to say we got you hurt,
00:46but we didn't block well for you the last couple of years.
00:48You're ahead of schedule on your rehab.
00:50Here's some money.
00:52Also, it comes down to this year,
00:54where you want to make sure you're letting a guy know that you care about him
00:57and the best way to do that in sports is money at the end of the day.

01:07Cash money this year.
01:08The number one quarterback going into this year before this contract was Josh Allen.
01:12This is the Chiefs.
01:13He now gets Patrick Mahomes due to this deal,
01:16gets $1.1 million more in cash this year than Josh Allen.
01:20So that's another way to show, hey, we appreciate you.
