00:00did you guys follow the the henry ruggs deal henry ruggs the former uh first round draft choice by
00:06the raiders wide receiver um who's in prison for killing someone who killed a woman and her dog i
00:16believe in a drunk driving crash in vegas he was going 160 miles an hour drunk he was hoping to
00:22be released um on parole but instead he was denied parole and he will remain in prison
00:32right did they say why he was denied parole is he had bad behavior he's only been there for five
00:38years he's been there five years already well he it happened in 21 i'm not sure he's been in jail
00:44five
00:44years yeah he got behind the wheel of his corvette slammed into the back of a woman's car killed her
00:49i remember seeing it was horrific the conviction was for felony dui and vehicular manslaughter right
00:56sentenced up to 10 years in prison yeah but when they when they go up for parole
01:00is part of their deal like what if you're the model citizen you do everything right you're doing you
01:05know you're helping to rehab other inmates that you're sweeping the toilet like you're literally
01:09doing everything right is it still their job to kind of be the judge and go yeah five years not
01:16enough for that crime or is it their judge to just go you know what you meet all the requirements
01:20you've been a good citizen probably depends on the judge yeah but isn't it like a like a trio of
01:28judges or something that i don't know what goes on in vegas but i mean some people do get out
01:32on
01:32parole and some judges say no you haven't served enough time yeah i mean he killed a woman going 160
01:38miles per hour drunk in shawshank redemption uh they would go before a little parole board right and
01:44read unfortunately a lot of times over and over again the parole board was saying well you end up
01:49making a murderer guy they steven avery he was going before a board every time trying to get appeals or
01:55get out early or whatever it wasn't going before a judge well he had two years of house arrest
02:00before he was served or sentenced i think in august of 2023 um so maybe they feel like he just
02:07hasn't
02:07served uh so that could be part of the deal they can just say listen i know you've been a
02:11model
02:11assistant you just haven't served enough in our opinion for the crime you committed yeah that and
02:15that's valid he's next says there is uh he had a non-compliant travel arrangement issue in october
02:21and he initially resisted mental health treatment all right so there you go so he's had a couple
02:27transgressions in their eyes that makes sense but he has done a lot of um um good i think or
02:35rehabilitory type things yeah like he's very apologetic for things he's done at least in the videos that
02:39i've seen uh-huh and he's trying to uh make right his best yeah i mean hopefully he's learned from
02:44that horrific incident i mean it's horrible he's grown and like but if he gets out in seven years
02:50i mean some people are getting 20 years for dwi right accents that kill people so i think it just
02:55depends i know it's all random though like dante stalworth killed somebody or whatever right
02:59i'm not sure he served a day remember or maybe 30 days or yeah i mean it was like a
03:05crazy load
03:06you know it's all yep i believe he has mandatory parole next summer henry rugs yeah yeah august 24th
03:15next next year i mean it just depends on the judge or the jurisdiction it's just weird yeah how they
03:22present themselves how those people are feeling that day who knows um you know the the local crime
03:30spree i know if that was our daughter that died we wouldn't want them getting out of course on the
03:35first
03:35parole we talked talked about it a little bit i think the the crime spree were with the carjacking
03:42and the shooting spree that guy was indicted i guess on 17 counts of attempted murder where was
03:48this one in prince george's county remember the guys he was 68 year old guy um yeah it was so
03:54he had
03:5571 total counts larry simpson crime spree did some carjackings and he started yeah it's so weird
04:01so i don't know if we mentioned this at the time he was a guy who had been convicted of
04:06murder in 1987
04:08served 35 years in prison was released and then he does this he's clearly not rehabilitated
04:15oh my god so he was released in 2022 so so you know he lasted a couple years before he
04:23lost it yeah
04:25isn't the recidivism whatever that word is isn't like that rate like 90 i don't know if it's 90
04:32i've heard it's super high yeah do you guys remember the the travis if you're 35 it's i do believe
04:39in
04:39second chances now for murderers it's tough yeah now for rugs it's not like he got in the car at
04:46the
04:46time with the intent however he was hammered right yeah but everybody knows if you get behind the
04:53you've got to pay a penalty for i agree for making a bad judgment i agree you shouldn't but he's
04:58just
04:58saying he wasn't necessarily intended he's gonna get a second chance you worry about cases like this
05:01one in prince george's county where the guy murdered somebody and he serves 35 years and they think he's
05:07good to go and then four years later he goes on the shooting spree well hopefully this judge now is
05:11going to say okay you're going to prison for the rest of your life of course if you have 71
05:16counts
05:17you probably are you're not getting out of prison ever again do you guys remember the story of travis
05:22rudolph no no travis rudolph was a receiver i don't really remember the story he was with the giants i
05:29think
05:29and a couple other teams but he was dating a girl and and they were in florida they were in
05:35tallahassee
05:36okay and he had some issues with the girl i don't know if there was domestic issues but
05:42the girl followed or came home with travis rudolph and they got into some sort of a dispute
05:50and the girl texted her friends four guys showed up at the house she texted him he you need to
05:57off him
05:58okay so off travis rudolph yeah this is all on video all right and so she she's she's there with
06:04the
06:04with travis rudolph travis rudolph's brother escorts her away from the house because they were getting
06:09into it right these four dudes walk up and i don't think they were armed travis rudolph leaves his house
06:16and starts shooting at the car where the four guys are kills one of them injures another one um
06:23indicted on murder charges but got off they said with self-defense real even though the four guys had no
06:28no weapons that was a that was a pretty big story in florida but when i think the murder happened
06:35in
06:3521 i'm guessing the trial was a couple years after that i don't know i don't know why it didn't
06:39capture
06:40my attention well just because travis rudolph wasn't a big name yeah but it's it's all on video i mean
06:46if
06:46you just youtube it it's very interesting yeah it was june 27 or june 7th 2023 a jury unanimously
06:54acquitted rudolph of all charges i just saw yep just since we're going through crime and and crime
07:01blotter segment darren sharper did you see that he was just released to a halfway house remember he's
07:08the one that was like putting all the pills in and raising all the packers right saints saints
07:13remember saints and maybe cowboys too right wasn't he cowboy um so how long did he serve
07:19he played for the packers vikings saints okay according to wiki not cowboys uh he's 50
07:26he did he had he pleaded guilty or no contest in 2015 so i guess he must have served about
07:3410 years
07:35wow something like that he's a richmond guy he's from richmond yeah oh yeah that's right he went to
07:42william and mary um no i didn't see that he uh he got out he initially was sentenced to 18
07:47years
07:48in prison i guess he did 10 or 11 how about the darren lead dude the linebacker of the chiefs
07:55former linebacker of the chiefs indicted on murder and the jets yeah yeah just uh indicted on a murder
08:00charge killed his girlfriend yeah we saw that that just happened recently that happened recently yes
08:05yeah so he has to go through the process but man it's crazy anyway henry ruggs because i think i
08:12think
08:12we brought him up maybe six months ago and he thought maybe he could come back and somehow get
08:19himself back in shape and get in the league well he's still only 27 he'll be 28 next year when
08:26drab says he's mandatory uh parole parole there's no way a team could say like at 28 you haven't played
08:34in six years been in prison there's no longer than the brand now you could that be there's no way
08:38you're gonna go out there and be able to run routes in it it would be a great redemption story
08:43it would yeah it's also horrible pr for your team yes i mean i guess that's probably not gonna go
08:50over him to your roster it is tough but at some point you do do you believe in redemption or
08:55not
08:55you give people second chances yeah but i mean it's it's still pretty not necessary this crime
09:00yeah for sure it doesn't diminish the crime i mean this shows that they'll sign anybody to win
09:05what about xfl ufl or yeah ufl yeah i guess i mean it won't be any the guy's not gonna
09:13make any real
09:14dough i know but if your point if you're trying to get back into the league and the league is
09:19yeah the league is kind of doesn't want to touch you all right because you're toxic yeah but and all
09:26of a sudden you show in the ufl that you still have ability yeah i think some teams would kind
09:32of
09:33turn the other way or be a little more forgiving something to be said for if you all you can
09:38do is
09:39serve the time you're sentenced to right yeah and then try to be a good person do good if you
09:43serve
09:44the maximum amount of time that you were sentenced to correct yeah the maximum time what if you just
09:48served whatever the time is and you got parole because that's how the law works well he was sentenced
09:52to up to 10 years but i don't think he was sentenced he was he might have been sentenced for
09:56i mean i
09:57do think even though you know you go to jail for something terrible it's awful but people probably
10:03should get a chance at life if they get released you just want them to be homeless i don't know
10:09like you know what i mean right you should get a chance you get a chance very tough yeah i'm
10:13sure
10:14the odds aren't great pretty hard as hell you go to the ufl it's not a great thing to have
10:18on your
10:18resume for a regular job show show that you're a model citizen now and that you're reformed and
10:24that you've learned your lesson and you go a year or two and i got out of trouble yeah now
10:27you're 30
10:28uh yeah yeah but if you're still if you're still if you're still productive yeah the correct me i'm
10:35wrong he wasn't that productive when he actually played i don't think he was a little bit of a
10:38disappointment yeah i think so he was one of those combine freaks yeah right combine freak great speed
10:43some of those measurables were great and then he just didn't produce right like expectations so
10:49yeah that would make it even tougher but um for those that were following it he was hoping to get
10:54out on parole did not he was denied so he'll remain in prison for at least another year remember 7
