00:00Got this from RJ. RJ wrote, Sheehan, wide receiver two don't mean much this year. Scheme heavy on
00:09tight ends. More important, they got chig than they get another wide receiver. You know, we've
00:18talked about this, that there is a likelihood that there will be more, you know, in the blouse
00:24system, more 12 and 13 personnel, more one back, two tight ends, one back, three tight
00:30ends. And by the way, that makes it really important that chig's good, but that, you
00:36know, also Senate finds a role and maybe that's more of sort of a fullback. Remember Adam Peters
00:42compared him to Kyle Juszczyk when they drafted him back in April of 2024 or whatever it was,
00:49April or early May of 2024. Um, but, uh, yeah, no, I, I get what you're saying, but you're
00:56not, you're, you're, you're not turning down another, you know, really good playmaker at
01:03wide receiver or anywhere on offense, you know, wide receiver two is as much about having
01:09another, uh, and really maybe a primary stretch the field guy. Look, I, I like digs a lot and
01:16I would really love digs on this team, but digs is ability to stretch the field. Isn't what it
01:23used to be there. I don't think he's a straight possession receiver. I think somebody mentioned
01:28that to me. Um, who, who mentioned that to me? Oh, I had Joe house on my podcast and Joe
01:34said,
01:35look, I think digs is much more of a possession receiver now than he is, you know, a scare you
01:40deep
01:40receiver, vertical threat receiver. And that's where IU comes in. IU is, you know, if you got
01:47the IU from 23, he's a true vertical threat and he'd become your best vertical threat. Terry's a
01:54good vertical threat. Don't get me wrong. Terry's good at basically everything he does. Uh, but IU is
02:01a real separator, you know, uh, a real vertical threat. And then a real separator. If you got that
02:08guy, you know, if that's the guy you ended up getting, who knows what you're going to get.
02:12Um, but thanks for that RJ. Cause I, I, I do get the importance of their tight ends and you
02:19know,
02:19I'm a big trigger Conquo fan. He was one of the free agents that I wanted them to target. Uh,
02:24and I
02:25think we're going to see a player that's not played on a good offensive team or with a good quarterback
02:30yet. I think he could really blossom into something special. And I think they're excited
02:36about a Conquo. I think they were excited to sign him. And I think they're excited so far
02:41about the professionalism, the work ethic, and just what they think he can be. Um, we won't know
02:47until the season begins. Um, but you know, it's very possible that when we get to, you know,
02:54September in Philadelphia and week two in Dallas, the second most targeted receiver on their team
03:02is a Conquo after Terry. I mean, I actually, I'd predict that to be the case right now that that
03:09is more likely than not that a Conquo ends up getting the second most targets on the team.
03:16And, you know, then you got Senate and you got Bates and you got Cager who I know that there
03:20is
03:20some belief in. Um, so we'll see, uh, when we get there, uh, Durante Jones yesterday in the final,
03:27uh, OTA day, um, of 2026, they've got a mini camp on Monday. Mini camp goes Monday through Wednesday
03:34next week prediction right now. Uh, there won't be a third day of mini camp. They'll,
03:39they'll send them home after the second day saying we've accomplished all we wanted to accomplish
03:44happens a lot. Um, this was our new defensive coordinator talking yesterday, Durante Jones about
03:51getting younger and faster. A big storyline is Durante going into kind of the new additions to
03:58this defense is younger and faster. That's kind of the narrative we've been talking about. What do you
04:02see? Kind of explain the younger and faster that you've seen on the field. Uh, well, obviously you see
04:09guys flying around and that's just the effort. Uh, you know, coach Q does a great job of the culture
04:14that he's built here. Uh, but the effort and guys, uh, playing lights out and just giving all their
04:20got for their teammate, you can see that the brotherhood has been established there and guys
04:23playing for one another. And so the younger and faster, I would honestly say, because the culture
04:28that is here, even if you were older, you'll still be giving all you got may not be as fast.
04:32Uh, and do we have some older guys, but I like the mindset of, you can see the speed on
04:37the field.
04:39You know, that answer, I didn't, I hadn't heard the answer. Max just said he wanted to play it for
04:43me.
04:43Um, you know, I know that a lot of you don't really care. I know a lot of you don't
04:51love them.
04:51I know a lot of you think the seats super warm, if not boiling hot, but people around Dan Quinn
04:59in his orbit, they really like him and they really respect him. And what, what Durante Jones was just
05:06asked had nothing to do with Dan Quinn. Um, but, uh, he talked about just the effort, you know,
05:12and going back to when he and Adam Peters were hired and they kept talking about the collaboration
05:18and, you know, having aligned visions. I think that's the way they described it. The, the, it was
05:24all about finding, uh, the, the traits that they both agreed on. And one of them was we want guys
05:32who, you know, whether they're talented or not, they're competitors and they are high motor,
05:39high energy players. And they have had that. I don't think that, you know, they're with the
05:46exception of the Minnesota game last year, the Minnesota game was a disaster all the way around,
05:52but you know, I can't say that I could accuse them of not giving effort. Now they didn't look
06:01coordinated defensively last year for sure. And obviously they were without all their best players
06:06for much of the season on both sides of the ball. Um, but I, I be hard pressed to, to
06:13be critical
06:14of their effort. You know, people say, well, that's a given they're professionals. No, it's not.
06:19We've seen plenty of teams bail. And that's why that Minnesota game was troubling. Cause that was the
06:25one game in which it looked like, Oh, you know, uh, injuries don't explain everything. And they didn't
06:33that day. Uh, this was Durante Jones on the green dot, the player that will have the green
06:40dot, the headset, the communication, uh, helmet communication with the head coach and him talking
06:46about Sonny styles. Uh, not so much as it used to be in the past, you know, for us, pretty
06:52much all
06:52the linebackers have the green dots because of the communication at practice. But nowadays they have that
06:56ability to have the green dot in college. We're going to see more and more college athletes coming
07:01to this level with comfort level of hearing a call, hearing a communication and then echoing
07:06and getting that out to their teammates. So because of, um, you know, where he's come from and his
07:10experience, it's been smooth as he came back. Talking about Sonny styles. And then lastly, uh,
07:18this was Durante Jones talking about, uh, the challenges he is facing as a first time defensive
07:27coordinator. Uh, challenges. I would say, you know, coach Q, uh, Dan Quinn has been very supportive,
07:34uh, with resources. I've been using them as a resource. So the challenge really with a challenge,
07:38I think it's been the experience has been great, um, because you're constantly learning it in this
07:42profession. That's what we want to do. So, uh, it's very similar to experience in the past. Um,
07:47but challenges is just more so getting us online. You know, we talk about making sure you have 11
07:52on the field, making sure the guys are lining up right with the right fronts, getting the calls,
07:56getting the communication across defensively. So everything matters. So before we even run a play
08:01is the things that's leading up to that play, um, you know, elite communication guys looking at the
08:07situation. So all that kind of, you know, dials in to before we run like a cover to what is
08:13our
08:13fundamentals, what our techniques look like the communication, pre-snap and post-snap.
08:17And so that's all part of it. So I wouldn't say it's challenging. It's just,
08:21you're looking at a wider spectrum of things.
08:24This guy's been around a lot of people. I mean, Brian Flores, Mike Zimmer, Marvin Lewis,
08:30um, Vance Joseph. Uh, he's been around a lot of guys. Um, you know, that answer, I swear to God,
08:39every, um, year, especially this time of year or very early in the season, especially when you have
08:46new players or a new coordinator, they always will tell you that we just got to get the play into
08:53the
08:53huddle and get out of the huddle on time and get to the line of scrimmage and snap the ball.
08:59It's like the thing that I think, you know, most fans just assume isn't very hard, but with new
09:04terminology and with players that are young and players who are playing together for the first time
09:10and packages and sub packages, you know, it's about being organized, you know, and as coaches,
09:17you know, the first thing, the first impression you don't want, you know, people to have is,
09:22oh my God, they looked disorganized. You know, now if you look disorganized, more likely than not,
09:29the play isn't going to go well. You can be organized and the play not be great. Um,
09:34the production not be great, but I'm telling you for coaches, it's like the first thing you see
09:40and I got to make sure that the plays in on time, it's called accurately in the huddle.
09:47We've got the right package for the play that I called. Uh, and then if it's offense,
09:52the ball gets snapped on time. It's more of a challenge than I think we think, especially with
09:58new players and young players in particular. Um, cause I do remember, um, how important it
10:04was, uh, with Dwayne Haskins, you know, the last, you know, the Jaden was a big part of being a
10:12rookie year. And then we heard some of that with Scott Turner, um, Scott Turner with, uh,
10:16Cliff Kingsbury. But I do remember it was like with, you know, uh, Dwayne in his first start,
10:22which was his first start was against Minnesota on a Thursday night. I think it was. And I remember
10:28it was all week. It was like, just got to get the play in. We got to get it called
10:33correctly,
10:34get to the line of scrimmage on time and get the snap off, uh, so that we're not burning timeouts
10:39throughout the, uh, game. And they didn't, I remember the performance wasn't, maybe it was
10:45Buffalo. What was Dwayne Haskins? I think he came in against Minnesota on a Thursday night and then
10:51started for the first time at Buffalo. I think I may be right about that. I'll look it up during
10:59the next
10:59break.
