Storm chaser Aaron Jayjack reports from Illinois as another day of dangerous storms gets underway throughout the Midwest.
Transcript
00:00Good afternoon from Galesburg, Illinois, where we are under the threat here in the Midwest for a significant severe weather
00:08threat later this afternoon into the evening hours.
00:12We do have a significant threat for tornadoes today. Strong tornadoes are possible, possibly as strong as EF4 tornadoes.
00:19Now here in Galesburg and points to the north, Davenport and across Iowa earlier this morning, we had severe storms,
00:25a complex of storms, and MCS move east through the Midwest.
00:30And that has dropped down an outflow boundary just to my south here a little bit.
00:35And that boundary is expected to lift to the north here this afternoon as the energy aloft moves to the
00:43east here from off to the west.
00:44And we're going to watch for the intersection of that outflow boundary and where that energy when it meets here
00:50later this afternoon at peak heating for the potential for supercells.
00:54Now we do have the storm, the complex storms that came through, but this is June and the sun is
01:00out and is warming up this environment.
01:02We've got strong southeasterlies here, easterly, southeasterly winds here out ahead of where the system is expected to form.
01:08And that is going to only enhance supercells in their rotation and make it much more possible for tornadoes today
01:16along this outflow boundary region.
01:18So we'll be tracking these cells here this evening across western Illinois.
01:22It's a dangerous day ahead here in the Midwest, starting in Iowa before moving into Illinois, and even portions of
01:28Wisconsin also under the threat.
01:29And portions of Missouri to the south also will see some of that threat later this afternoon.
01:35Reporting for AccuWeather from Galesburg, Illinois, I'm Aaron Jayjack.
